The full stock M16 has largely been retired from military use now except for rear guard troops and reservists back home, The only user of the weapon now is the National Guard some units
@MrSeth360 ACR, FMJ with Scavenger, Stopping Power, Ninja is probably one of the most effective classes, particularly at medium to long range. The Silenced TAR-21 and UMP-45 are also very effective.

Yellie12 I switched from PS3 to PC for MW2. You'll find more games and there actually are less hackers than on PS3. It's not a terribly heavy game on PC at all

@kdizzle909 I'll mention killstreaks if there's anything that has a particular synergy with the weapon, but in the case of the M16 the most effective setup is the usual 5-7-9 or 5-7-11. I was using 3-4-6, which is great fun - a good player with UAV and Counter-UAV equipped is hard to play against, and the airstrikes are deadly when you've got both up. I wouldn't say it was more effective than the usual Harrier-based setup though.
I found this to be your most useful weapon guide, i used the gun just to get all the attachments but I wouldn't have used holographic if I never watched this, and holographic is the best attachment for the M16A4!

Love the M16. Its tied with the MP5K rapid fire for the fastest-killing weapon in game (other than one-hit kills weapons), and its the only gun that has high accuracy and damage, as well as a high fire rate.
Good description of the M16 for each COD game. I LOVE using it on MW2. I ALMOST have that weapon COMPLETELY mastered. That weapon is NASTY. Just press the button and let the tri-burst do the rest. It also seems like a tri-burst sniper weapon, as well. I have had MANY long range kills with this weapon. Love it!!!!!
I use those too. the MW2 SCAR H is amazing but has a smaller than average mag size. Extended Mags I believe is the best attachment. The SCAR L is pretty good too. The SCAR H in Black Ops 2 is even better than the MW2 rendition. but it kicks like a mule.
+Darian Allnutt magazine size is 20+1 on the real steel. 7.62 isn't particularly a small cartridge. still the best weapon in call of duty history would probably be the mw2 ACR in my opinion.
0:57 Fun fact the M16A1 was not introduced until 1969... M16 and XM16E1 were used before that, which had a 3 prong flash hider and no chrome lined barrel or chamber, which caused a lot of jamming.
I prefer the Famas over the M16. The Famas has less recoil, and a faster fire rate. Well of Course the reload time is better on the M16 and it has less recoil than the Famas but you always need the Holo Sight if you want to be very accurate, other than that the M16 does generally have a bit more recoil, Which makes the Famas more flexible in terms of picking attachments since the low recoil is available through all attachments. Pair this with a Red dot sight, Sleight of Hand Pro and Stopping Power than you really do have a great counter sniper weapon.
@wyatt watterud let me explain, the M16 has more recoil than the Famas, but if you add a Holographic sight to the M16, it will have less recoil and bullet spread than the Famas. But I still prefer the Famas since it shoots faster and I could still have low recoil with any attachment I use.
I like the M16 just because of it's style. It'd be more practical if the developers had incorporated fully automatic, though. I'd promise people'd like it more since it's already a powerful machine gun.
if it were fully auto it'd just be the best assault rifle in the game, hands down. Its RPM would top the F2000 and its damage on par with the SCAR and the TAR, not to mention non-existent recoil with the holo.
M16A4 from MW2. Try this out. Bling it. Silencer and Holographic. Play highly defensively, basically, hold down one area with many corners that people need to turn into. Seriously.. It's a defense beast.
I remember when I played MW2, I'd try my damnedest to get Gold Camo on the M16. Unfortunately, I was only able to get to the Fall camo. Then, one day, I discovered that I loved how the gun looked with no camo. All black. And I've never chosen a camo for the M16 since!
I still play MW2 online on PS3. Some games are hacked (mainly high jump hack, aimbot, or UAV hack) but other lobbies are great with no hackers. I hacked a few years ago to 11th prestige - however I have not boosted and still am completing the legit challenges, titles, and emblems. I am using the m16a4 currently, working towards 2500kills. Great fun. Have mastered every primary weapon, and have had 1000 kills with every in-game weapon (excluding RPG, AT4-HS, Javelin, and the Riot Shield). Have 970 Stinger heli shootdowns so very close to 1000. Still a great game but a few hackers make it annoying sometimes. It's good to get to a stage thought where i'm getting consistent positive KDs (often 2:1, or 3:1 or higher). Currently on 68000 total kills
All of the time and great consideration and effort put into these very well made weapon and perk breakdown videos are moot when the guy with one man army noob tube joins the game
They still haven't topped MW2 hit detection and smoothness IMO. I love the feel of the IW 4.0 engine, and of course MW2's beautiful maps blow MW3's bland maps out of the water.
I'm getting this weapon in 7 levels (i'm 33 now) and i saw a friend playing with it and it's total domination! He kills enemies with only 1 burst at close-medium range. BEAST weapon. Can't wait to use it on Terminal and other close range maps.
BO M16 had basically the same performance and stats as m16 in cod4 and mw2. Only difference is, there was stopping power perk in both mw2 and cod4, which benefits burst fire weapons the most, and when you remove it from the game, it hurts burst fire weapons the most too.
Honestly the recoil reduction from the holographic sight is so minimal that it is pointless unless at extreme ranges. My Setup is simple: M16A4 with Grenade Launcher(clears out campers, span trappers and enemies that kill you repeatedly) Secondary is SPAS-12 Perks: Scavenger Cold Blooded and Commando, I HATE running out of ammo since 4 mags isnt much for any Assault Rifle if you survive. I'm not a silencer/stealth persons but i do not like getting randomly shot at by harriers and attack helicopters and sentry guns and i dont like uav revealing my location if just respawned after dying and havent used my weapon yet. Commando i rely it to avoid fall damage, harrass enemies in close combat with knife speed if im caught with a empty mag. Ohh and i usually knife campers and snipers if i've snuck up on them heheheh
+kstanni87 It's pretty significant, actually. The recoil profile becomes that of the FAMAS when using the Holographic Sight (otherwise, the M1614's recoil is overall higher, especially upwards), and since the M16A4 fires slower and has a higher centerspeed, it's a lot more accurate than the FAMAS.
The only problem that the recoil feels very minimal for me, i've used the famas a lot as well and i felt no significant difference except they are both right behind the acr in terms on recoil. I always end up going back to the good old noobtube for backing me up for taking out chaotic hard to kill enemies(Bling Pro is out of the question, i hate having ammo issues with only 3 mags per life so i use scavenger pro)
kstanni87 I'm not one to scoff over ammo issues in MW2. While it is true that weapons have less reserve ammo in MW2, your killstreaks are so bloody strong that you can usually kick up a chair and relax while your enemies are at the mercy of Harriers, Pave Lows, and AC-130's or Chopper Gunners. I usually find the M16A4 to be a good weapon to go on streaks with thanks to its overall lethality and accuracy with the Holographic Sight (without a Holographic, the FAMAS would be a better choice overall). The accuracy difference is a bit hard to tell between bursts, but within the burst, it's a lot more accurate.
kstanni87 Typically I run out of ammo right when I'm about to call in my Harrier. At that point, I just resort to my secondary or find a nearby weapon on the ground as a replacement. You can find a lot of good weapons on the ground in MW2, and they usually have a suitable amount of ammo to use as well.
i love this gun its my fav although i preffer its iron sight rather than red dot or holographic i find it more acurate and i love the design and quick reloding defenatly recommendable
Yeah! It really is a great weapon. The only thing about it is you have to remember that is VERY accurate. No need to try to UNLOAD. Just lot the accuracy and the tri-burst do the work.
Honestly with the Holographic Sight the M16A4 is superior to the FAMAS in almost every way: less recoil, much faster reload and draw time, and the same damage at close and long range. The FAMAS only holds the advantage at medium ranges, where with stopping power it can be a two bullet kill instead of the M16's three; but this is hardly a downside for the M16 with the holo.
i also did and yes it was kind of hard at long distance but i got used to it. i got killed more often by smg's at close distance. you can kill the recoil almost completely by laying down. you should also use grip and suppressor until you get the thermal scope. the visual recoil is the main problem with the pkp and some other guns but you are able to reduce it with the thermal scope.

Nice video and a proper M16 set up for Modern warfare 2 is Bling (silencer, holographic sight), Cold Blooded and Commando perks to ensure a stealth type gameplay

I know what ya mean though, but at the same time like you said theyre almost identical guns. The M16 is just a longer barreled version of the M4 so it makes sense they have very similar reloads.

I know. a 7.62mm cartridge is a nasty powerful bullet. and I forgot to mention that; the ACR is in fact my most favorite AR in MW2.

Nope the m16 and famas has the same recoil, like all ar's do. It's just personal preference.

i love this gun its my fav although i preffer its iron sight rather than red dot or holographic i find it more acurate and i love the design and quick reloding defenatly recommendable

Yeah! It really is a great weapon. The only thing about it is you have to remember that is VERY accurate. No need to try to UNLOAD. Just lot the accuracy and the tri-burst do the work.
Honestly with the Holographic Sight the M16A4 is superior to the FAMAS in almost every way: less recoil, much faster reload and draw time, and the same damage at close and long range. The FAMAS only holds the advantage at medium ranges, where with stopping power it can be a two bullet kill instead of the M16's three; but this is hardly a downside for the M16 with the holo.

Every time I see somebody using the M16 with a holographic sight I feel like I'm watching a Chris Smoove video.
i also did and yes it was kind of hard at long distance but i got used to it. i got killed more often by smg's at close distance. you can kill the recoil almost completely by laying down. you should also use grip and suppressor until you get the thermal scope. the visual recoil is the main problem with the pkp and some other guns but you are able to reduce it with the thermal scope.

On the seaport map in MW3, I used a L118A and shot a lower cement bridge arc and it managed to hit someone. Emphasis on bad hit detection.
I've always hated the Red Dot on this gun compared to the Holo for some reason and this explains why. *like*

Nice video and a proper M16 set up for Modern warfare 2 is Bling (silencer, holographic sight), Cold Blooded and Commando perks to ensure a stealth type gameplay
But then you lose the nice 1 burst kills of stopping power
@Echo5518 You think so? I personally love the sounds of the guns in MW3, that exact reason you just explained is why I find Battlefield 3 so boring. I know what ya mean though, but at the same time like you said theyre almost identical guns. The M16 is just a longer barreled version of the M4 so it makes sense they have very similar reloads.
I'd think about keeping the iron sight on cuz it looks awesome

Before I watched this video my m16 class was the same as his with an aa12 because I'm not at 67 where I get the models. This is the second time I've done this. The other time was the FAL holographic
@armyrangers88 There's a problem with that,the M16 series(except the M16 and the A1) lack the full auto mode,that's what an M4 Carbine Does....
