I'm not sure if they would be big enough to threathen three of the biggest companies in gaming. If the big three stopped working with them that would seem pretty bad for business.
Xbox has never had controller drift and when the controllers do have this issue it’s due to damages inflicted onto them so it can’t be that all 3 of these companies use the same company

Love how all my controllers from the 90's to late 00's still work perfectly fine and tend to only fail after being worn down to a pulp. But not a single company now a days can make a controller that doesn't drift. They all do it now a days. My Valve Index controllers have been RMA'd 3 times for that exact issue, my switch does it, my pro controller started drifting after only a month. Garbage. Considering how widespread drift is now days, wouldn't surprise me if every company is jumping on the band wagon because it ultimately makes them more money by having controllers fail earlier than they used to, knowing most people will just say screw it and buy another controller. (also funny how controller prices are higher than ever at the same time)

they charge as much as any other they just shift the prices around. Whereas with the rest you pay more for the console vs the controllers. For nintendo you charge more for the controllers than the console. Its important to note its still bad because you won't be replacing the console usually.
@@arthurpendragon8192 sure but shifting prices as an obfuscation tactic only works in the early days of a console; competitors' hardware and software drops in price over time. if im looking to get into consoles and i see nintendo charging a full $60 dollars for games that came out at launch i'm going with the PS4 or xbox because those libraries are actually penetrable.
Their accessories are way overpriced but I think MOST (not all) of their software is fairly priced they are all extremely polished much more so than most "AAA" games No other games have I really been able to play through the entire thing without annoying glitches ruining gameplay The only glitches that occur for me in most nintendo games are ones I look up and actively try because they actually prioritize game breaking bugs over minor and non game breaking ones Like botw Its FULL of glitches but it's also extremely polished. Everything works how you want it to work and glitches dont get in the way. The only major fun glitch they really patched was the first out of bounds ganon glitch with the horse but that's because you could very easily do it by accident and it breaks the game But they also left in the harder method of getting out of the fight I think the devs are perfectly self aware but the business and hardware people Not so much
This is excellent, these companies really take the piss with their defective products and are really greedy about doing anything meaningful regarding your warranty. Let alone having issues 4 days into buying the console... About time they are held accountable for it.
It seems these companies have taken a few shortcuts with the manufacturing around analog sticks in general. A few things I've noticed based on my own experience: Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons - Drift issues on multiple controllers PS Vita (2nd gen) - Drift issues on the left stick Dualshock 4 V2 Controllers - 3 separate controllers with sticking/dead spot issues Now the Dualsense controllers with similar drift issues. Now I've had many controllers with analog sticks from multiple Dualshock 1,2 and 3 controllers, Dualshock 4 (V1) controllers, PS Vita (1st gen), 3rd-party controllers...etc, and none of these have had any of these problems after years of use. It seems to be the latest batch of controllers across the board (over the last few years) which have oddly similar issues.
I've gone through 3 in the last year! 1 broke within a week, 2nd lasted 2 months and the 3rd just started getting minor drift. Ps1-3 never had this problem, it's like they want them to fail
As soon as I saw they were using the same hardware for the sticks as the DS4 (plenty of videos of DS5 taken apart) I knew their would be drift issues. The last two DS4 that I got had drift issue.
@@NonsensicalSpudz i believe it happens to people who play fps games a lot and press on the r3 button often. Me amd my brother never had this issues till playing tactical settings on shooter games. Always pressing down on r3 to slide. Think the controllers arent meant to press r3 for to many times.

I've decided to wait until God of War Ragnarok comes out in order to buy a PS5... Which should take us to a time where, finally, next-gen consoles are easily available. And FIXED. 😐
Seeing that the PS5 has the same joystick module as a PS4, I'm not surprised by this. I knew this would be an issue before the PS5 was available to the general public by the early access teardowns by content creators. The source of the problem is the potentiometer sensor module and they are prone to fail at some point. Sony must find an alternative and better supplier for this part. Putting this part in the PS5 Duel Sense was a big mistake.
When I first saw this, I immediately thought of this quote, "No! Oh God No! No, no, no,...why must we forever carry around our failures with us" - Yahtzee Croshaw

exactly. i always wait till more than a half year passes or sometimes a full year before getting a new console cause there is always something wrong with these things. i do want a series x tho. havent really heard any issues about that.....at least not yet anyway
Biiig reason I moved to PC. It felt like I was paying a $60 tax on just keeping a functional controller, and that was with both the xbox and the switch. After seeing the sheer number of people who had their *$120* elite xbox controller getting drift or broken buttons, I was gone. Glad I never bought one of those, such a fucking scam.
What's really aggravating is this is a problem which can be trivialised during the controller design, but they choose not to do so. Joysticks are potentiometers, variable resistors. All that's needed is a small variable resistor on either side of the joystick (schematically), then fixing joycon drift is just a case of opening the shell and using a screwdriver to adjust the calibration pots to the right values.
At the tail end of ps4 before PS5 came out, I had to return and buy 6 (yes, SIX) different ps4 controllers, because they ALL had stick drift on the right analog. Badly
My ps4 controller is about a year old and the right analog sometimes drifts. I'm wondering if that's because I pressed it hard a few times, or because it's faulty. Idk how gentle or rough I'm being, or how much wear and tear is reasonable for a good quality controller to break from.
I mean I still have my original PS3 controller (7 years +... I forget how old it is) still works perfect fine after ALOT of use... What happened to quaility!
@@BrittleScarMusic same with ps4. I've gone through so many Ps4 controllers but the original one that came with my OG Ps4 still works fine. The rubber is worn down on the sticks but that's litterally it. Ironically it is the only controller (out of the 6 I currently have) that doesn't have some kinda issue. I've bought them and then proceeded to have weird glitches with them only a month later. Their QC went down and they cheaped out on making them. Stupid as hell
@@MrKing-qd7gi They are very stupid, I mean I'm debating whether to even get a PS5 myself. Also will say like yours the rubber is worn down but I got some little rubber grips that slip onto the joysticks and pretty happy with that solution :)

I remember when Nintendo stated that (during the class action lawsuit) "Drift is not a problem at all on the Joycons." And I was like WTF!?!? I was sitting there with THREE Joycons that not only drifted, but also weren't registering buttons, the sticks were either didn't accept inputs or completely locked to one direction, and all of them would just disconnect randomly. It literally made playing the Switch impossible. I bought that 3rd Joycon because of the issues plaguing my original two which were part of the very early consoles, ya I got in before the insane Pandemic craze for Nintendo Switches. I foolishly thought that buying a newer controller would solve my problems... it didn't. So after Nintendo made that statement, the Prosecution was looking for videos about people's drifting issues. I was like FUCK YEAYA. But I decided to make one last call to Nintendo Customer Service. The lady there was so nice and helpful, we were on the phone for a LONG time troubleshooting what was going wrong with my Joycons. She ended up fixing EVERY SINGLE ISSUE! I shit not. I was amazed. Essentially they were all just completely calibrated incorrectly, but that's just an oversimplification. There were like 3 things total that I needed to do to fix the Joycons. Maybe there was something to Nintendo's claim that drift wasn't an issue. All I can say is if you are suffering terrible drifting, disconnections, and unresponsive buttons on your Joycons, then DEF give Nintendo's Customer Service a call. They will walk you through the entire process of fixing them. Perhaps something similar is happening with Sony's Controllers, who knows.
Yeah but after years of heavy uses the company will just ignore you and say, well you overused it. Too fucking bad. In this case, these controllers are probably BRAND NEW and shouldn't suffer from these things for at least a couple years

I had that issue on PS4 Pro after 1 year. It took me 15 minutes to fix it (there were dust on contact over the stick). At PS5 they added a new rubber over the stick in order to prevent that. I have a PS5 for a 3 month now, no drift yet.
It doesn't vary from game to game, it's a defect with the sensor on the controller itself. Most likely Ghost of Tsushima just has a lower (or no) deadzone on whatever stick you're experiencing the issue with. For clarification a deadzone setting means that the stick must be tilted beyond a certain threshold before input is registered. If the game has no deadzone setting, then movement will occur as soon as the stick is tiled. So if your controller only has very minor drift, it will only be noticeable in games with low/no deadzone.
@@yewtewbstew547 i never said it did vary, just that ony ghost of Tsushima had some sight camera pull. Lol but thanks, i did know all this, but haven't really dug deep as I'm not bothered by it. GoT even has a raise deadzone option in settings
@@Ashurman666 No, the defect still exists in perpetuity. The fact that certain games have settings that hide the issue is not the same as the actual issue varying between games.
I’ve actually never had drift on my ps5 controller & I play extensively, especially shooters. My scuff has had to get fixed 4 times in under 6 months for drift. Scuff needs to be sued
It's odd that this is happening in the states. I live in South Africa and I own a PS5 and they deal with a third-party company here called PartServe. I had a drift issue and literally took it to PartServe and got it replaced the same day. If they have a massive backlog, why don't they implement the same solutioon?
I got ps5 and I got zero issues with it or the controller, I bought mine on day one. Back in September when I pre-ordered it, so mine I think is the first batch.
@@cirescythe Its probably people who already sunk 1000 hours into their PS5's over two months and wondering why their controllers are worn down. Like some people put their controllers through hell.
As a technician I have never actually been able to repair a Xbox controller that had drift. I have replaced many analog sticks for actually new ones to no avail. They always retain the same drift, which, at least on the Xbox one and one s case, lead me to believe it's a board level issue, not analog component level.
Don’t get me wrong I’m not trying to minimize anyone’s problems with the dualsense but this is kinda ridiculous, the things been out for 4 months and there’s a lawsuit already, meanwhile Joycon drift is way more common and it took YEARS for there to be a lawsuit, and it’s not even going anywhere! And I’m not saying there shouldn’t be one but dear lord had we acted sooner against Nintendo drift wouldn’t even be a problem anymore on the Joycons and maybe even on the dualsense
Popularity and population increases the chances of it just by a numbers game. You also may not have heard of failed lawsuits in the past as we're steadily heading into a super publicized world
Nintendo drift is a thing for people who play on the go and a lot of people I know mostly play docked. And Nintendo has unreal levels of brand loyalty from fans. To the point of Nintendo randomly killing someone and loyalists will think the other guy started it
I'd prob say that people learned from how nintendo handled the drift and tackled it aggressively at the start. They also learned that you can sue due to drift on the controller and that without actual lawsuit companies like nintendo/sony won't even think about fixing the drift.
Kind of glad I wasn't able to get a PS5. Thanks to every 360 controller I owned doing this I still get paranoid as hell when I have to turn left too much with a controller. Sometimes I've even made left turns by spinning right instead lol.
imagine buying a $500 console or if you're one of those people who bought a scalped system for $1,000+ and get drift shortly after. fuckin oof. big yikes.
All these console controllers are clearly not made by competitive gamers. @Logitech @Sony @Microsoft @Mr.Sidewinder Can someone please build a controller with the following features? - Non-clickable analogue sticks (NO BUTTON underneath the sticks) - Two rear buttons - Made for big hands (We're not 5 years old) - No stick drift - Why not including rechargeable batteries that can be removed when using it wired? - We don't press the triggers with our index finger. Please make a shape that lets us comfortably press the shoulder buttons (bumpers) with the index finger while using the triggers with the middle finger
@@ls200076 probably. I dont keep track of other countries if they give support checks to their citizens for covid. But thats what Im talking about. If people are getting stimulus checks, they have extra money to get consoles.
when Maximillian Dood unboxed the console and tried the controller on stream then said the sticks are so sensitive they feel like they have no resistance, i knew immediately that it would break down in less than a year, lo and behold, it broke down in less than a month.

Drift is NOT an issue with the player it's a controller defect.

If you just buy another controller, you've spent DOUBLE the money you should have, just to get a controller that has a fair chance of having the exact same issue.

@@sittingonceilings6805 the internet wasn’t that big, obviously people didn’t know it was a widespread problem
Nope. The old controllers are trash. I have replaced it plenty of times. Especially the left analog stick gets drift all the time.
It seems these companies have taken a few shortcuts with the manufacturing around analog sticks in general. A few things I've noticed based on my own experience:
Nintendo Switch Joy-Cons - Drift issues on multiple controllers
PS Vita (2nd gen) - Drift issues on the left stick
Dualshock 4 V2 Controllers - 3 separate controllers with sticking/dead spot issues
Now the Dualsense controllers with similar drift issues.
My ps4 controller dose this and it's brand new
My ps5 controller does this to the point it’s unusable and I got it for Christmas
The last two DS4 that I got had drift issue.
can only speak for myself of course but i never had any issues. my ds4 lastet the whole ps4 cycle and my dualsense is great

Which should take us to a time where, finally, next-gen consoles are easily available. And FIXED. 😐
Xbox is dead xbot
Meanwhile my Joy Cons are still drifting...
Depending on how much work you want to do it's possible to switch the joystick out with better ones but it requires soldering on boards

This puts a new spin on the phrase "Tokyo Drift"
What's really aggravating is this is a problem which can be trivialised during the controller design, but they choose not to do so.
Joysticks are potentiometers, variable resistors. All that's needed is a small variable resistor on either side of the joystick (schematically), then fixing joycon drift is just a case of opening the shell and using a screwdriver to adjust the calibration pots to the right values.
At the tail end of ps4 before PS5 came out, I had to return and buy 6 (yes, SIX) different ps4 controllers, because they ALL had stick drift on the right analog. Badly

On my 4th controller, the drift was so bad I had to hold my left stick backwards in order for it to not GO UP CONSTANTLY.
All I can say is if you are suffering terrible drifting, disconnections, and unresponsive buttons on your Joycons, then DEF give Nintendo's Customer Service a call. They will walk you through the entire process of fixing them. Perhaps something similar is happening with Sony's Controllers, who knows.

Ive noticed a little bit of this, nothing big but only on Ghost of Tsushima.

Sometimes I've even made left turns by spinning right instead lol.
imagine buying a $500 console or if you're one of those people who bought a scalped system for $1,000+ and get drift shortly after. fuckin oof. big yikes.
I hope this isn’t indicative of something going wrong with advancing controller technology
All these console controllers are clearly not made by competitive gamers.
@Logitech @Sony @Microsoft @Mr.Sidewinder
Can someone please build a controller with the following features?
- Non-clickable analogue sticks (NO BUTTON underneath the sticks)
- Two rear buttons
- Made for big hands (We're not 5 years old)
- No stick drift
- Why not including rechargeable batteries that can be removed when using it wired?
- We don't press the triggers with our index finger. Please make a shape that lets us comfortably press the shoulder buttons (bumpers) with the index finger while using the triggers with the middle finger
Japanese console..?
Drif..?
DO YOU LIKE, MY CAR?
I have no idea how people even know this, I am yet to find a ps5 in any game store...
Well you cant find one BECAUSE other people have the ones you want.
Stimulus checks have made it harder to get.
@@myguitartwerks7825 Are we talking about America?
Cuz my head went straight to stimulus checks for small businesses and Self Employed.
@@ls200076 probably. I dont keep track of other countries if they give support checks to their citizens for covid. But thats what Im talking about. If people are getting stimulus checks, they have extra money to get consoles.
Sony: *Threathens to sue Dbrand for "using their IP".
Also Sony: *Got sued for their poorly desiged IP.
They never threaten to sue Dbrand tho
when Maximillian Dood unboxed the console and tried the controller on stream then said the sticks are so sensitive they feel like they have no resistance, i knew immediately that it would break down in less than a year, lo and behold, it broke down in less than a month.
