    Love sansevieria ! I was surprised a few years ago when I had one that bloomed. It was actually very root bound , so much so that it later broke its terra cotta pot . Loved that surprise bloom. Glad you’re doing well 💚🌿💚

      @@carmenwhitehead i've read somewhere that it is "forced" to bloom when root bound.not sure though, but on my trifasciata laurentii & bacularis, yup, they did bloom only when the pot was almost full on top..maybe its true?

    Nice to share the love, sharing is caring🥰your mom will love her new moonshine Carmen. I did not realize that watering right after a repot can cause root rot and that waiting for a week or so is best, thank you so much for that. I’ve been guilty of it 🤭

    • @carmenwhitehead
      @carmenwhitehead  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use that rule for my succulent type plants Elizabeth. Especially if I've cut roots like I did with this one. But, a regular foliage plant that had no root damage, you can water.

    • @elizabethgreco-nieves3667
      @elizabethgreco-nieves3667 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Carmen great to know, I used to separate my succulents and then water, I was wondering why some wouldn’t make it.

    The Sansevieria moonshine are very healthy and beautiful. A piece of paper blocks water drain holes and keep soil moisture for a long time will make roots rot.

    Carmen what kind of soil do u use when transplanting.?

    • @carmenwhitehead
      @carmenwhitehead  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For my Cacti and succulents I use Miracle gro cactus mix and I add some perlite for better drainage. For my tropical foliage I mix my own (I do have a video on this) Coco coir, orchid bark, perlite and worm castings. For my Hoyas I mix cactus soil, orchid bark and perlite. Hope this helps.

    Hi Carmen.....will u please tell me if I should put my Whale’s fin plant outdoors or keep inside.? Thank you

    • @carmenwhitehead
      @carmenwhitehead  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do keep some of my Sansevierias outside and they do well. They only get some morning sun and shade the rest of the day. You want to be careful of too much rain if you live somewhere that it rains a lot. Hope this helps.

    Hi Carmen it’s me Dorothy again........my senserveria Whale’s fin plant has a pup the height of the mother....Carmen I am worried in the center of my whale’s fin plant it is wrinkled..I always use my moisture tool and it says moist it only dry on top of soil but when I go deeper it is moist I am confused..and the big leaf is not flat. It sort of look a little wavy.....the mother plant is 16 inches high and the pup is 13 inches high I don’t want to lose it u know they are so expensive according to the height....I am so blessed a friend that is the manager of this nursery gave it to me as a friendship gift...Carmen I was so overwhelmed that I got tearful......I have had so many people tell me that I am a very pleasant person. And every time I call or talk to anyone it’s always the right time I don’t try to be funny but my personality with people always make them feel better when I talk to people they always feel better....And that makes me feel like I am to always cheer them up .its just my personality...thank for taking the time to listen and respond back too me....Oh Carmen I get my happiness and joy knowing that I helped someone laugh instead of being SAD.......thank u again Carmen I will feel better about my Whale’s fin when u answer..... I love your curly hair.....so beautiful.......God bless u and all my UTube plant friends ❤️❤️😇❤️❤️

      Hi Dorothy! If your moisture meter says the pot is still moist further down, then I would wait to water. It's better to underwater than over water.

    What are the rock or pebbles for oh and the Cinnamon

    • @carmenwhitehead
      @carmenwhitehead  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The pebbles are simply for decorative purposes. The cinnamon is a natural fungacide. It helps the wound or cut heal.

    • @carmenwhitehead
      @carmenwhitehead  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @carmenwhitehead

    Its intetesting how much u do have to water your plants in arizona 😱

    • @carmenwhitehead
      @carmenwhitehead  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the season. In the balcony during Summer, every 5-7 days. In Winter every 2 weeks if it's not raining. Inside plants for Summer are every 7-10 days, Winter every 2-3 weeks. Other factors are the type of pot they're in (ceramic or terra cotta).

    Hi, how often do u water this plant? And do water it a lot at one time till the water drains out of the pot? Tq

    • @carmenwhitehead
      @carmenwhitehead  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      During the Spring and Summer (when it's hotter) I will probably water every 2 weeks if inside, every 10 days if outside. During Fall & Winter about every 3-4 weeks. BUT, I always use a moisture meter with all my Sansevierias to ensure they are completely dry. Then I do water thoroughly until drains out. Hope this helps.
