I doubt ONVO will survive as Elon famos quote it is not difficult to make a new EV but we have seen so many failures as companies one after another run out of capital as they aren't able to scale to lower costs as well as generate free cashflow. NIO burnt through 3B in the past few years and still not profitable. BYD is but per ev profits around 5000 yuan while tesla is around 60000 yuan. So China car market is so competitive everyone now moved on to hybrid to lower the sticker price by lowering the cost of batteries needed. 1km more range!
Ok, that's the size comparison I like to see
I’m making sure to cover to important comparisons
u sound like a 75 year old man lol.......thats a beautiful exterior--and the whole world loves it,obviously...ask Porcshe
Bloody cracking cars that are coming out I can't keep up and Tesla do lots more than just cars vans trucks bikes
Cheers mate
Finally someone who points out that this body style is the worst of all worlds! Well done Elliot !
Impossible to make a really boxy ”traditional” shape and keep a good Cd, I think it is a reasonable compromise
@@anton_grahn better to have an actual boot for a car of this size rather than good cd, if you don't need the boot you don't even need a 2 ton car, better go smaller if you're after great efficiency
ONVO entering the market at the worst time don't think they can sell enough to scale. How much do you think NIO pays for the batteries from CATL versus Tesla who is the biggest customer of CATL as BYD makes its own battery? This is why Tesla margin is so much higher.
Can see a bit of Porsche, Volvo and Tesla in the exterior design, the interior looks fantastic, it looks similar to Tesla but much better, and not removing things like gear change levers / buttons for the sake of doing so to make the driving experience more annoying, I think this will sell like hotcakes in Australia, bring it on.
This sounds like what the Model Y should have been updated to over the years. Trust the Chinese to copy and improve what we want.
There have been another round of failed Tesla killers out there every year for over a decade. What do you feel will make this one real? Tesla has a refreshed Y in the works that some say are osborning Y sales.
@@danharold3087 The refreshed Y seems like a concept of a plan.
@@danharold3087 What makes me feel that this one is ANOTHER real competitor is the fact that Tesla sales are slowing while the competitors sales are steady or growing.
@@simonpaine2347 The only competitor is BYD. If you add the cars sold by other than BYD or Tesla. they total less than the sales of BYD or Tesla.
People are waiting for the model Y refresh in most markets.
@@simonpaine2347 Call it what you like. Suppliers say Q1 2025 release.
Nice but it come at the wrong moment because of xpeng Mona 3
Different target market.
Mona 3 is way cheaper. Onvo is way better. They got better chips/swap/driving/interior quality.
@@QK.. Time will tell. It always does.
I cant get my head round why you need a heated steering wheel, or leg rests, or seats etc when you can heat the whole cabin. Seat massage, yeah, get that, but heated?
Some prefer to heat the seat and wheel while keeping the cabin cooler. People who live with long term cold love the heated wheels.
You driving this EVs in warm conditions . I live in Canada.I wonder how would they permorfm on -20C btw Tesla model Y haves Heat pump
Not only does the Y have a heat pump. But they have a mode to make the motor generate some heat to kick start the heat pump in the coldest weather. Octovalve
Bye bye Tesla, Elon and its arrogance 😂
This can battery swop, Tesla can't. End of conversation.
Tesla was first in 2013 with battery swaps on the model S and decided it was pointless=the end! 👍🏻
@@4literv6 They stopped because they realized battery swap is quite cash-intensive. So stop lying with it being "pointless". Also, they were the EV mass market pioneer and they didn't need swap capability to dominate.
@imanshaf8429 @wwbren Yes not buying the battery saves on the up-front auto price tremendously. This is a great idea to make EVs widespread..until unscrupulous selfish $%^ people start clandestinely opening the battery packs and start pinching a few batteries here and there so they can build their own battery pack and then swap the corrupted pack for another one (Insert Meme: This is why we can't have great things). You then begin to wonder how safe that battery is for the next family getting it swapped into their car...especially when it comes to horrific fires. I'd rather stick with my own battery that nobody has touched...because I know for a fact &%$^ people ruin some of the greatest things ever invented.
Nio suddenly has Onvo, Xpeng Suddenly has Mona. Are they related ? is the myth that Chinese have a common platform for everything true ?
Anyway Elliot, make a video comparison between the two ya
Next time a British critic, before publishing a critical European dissection of an electric car from our lesser brothers from China, should order colour correction of his video from a nice teenager from India.
Lesser brothers? Can you hear yourself?
@@keelferm Are you shocked at how Westerners perceive the world outside the collective West? What a surprise!
