SEVERAL years after my last Paper Mario Lost Bits video, we are back with one for Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door - just in time for the remake! For this first video we'll be taking a look at some pre-release changes seen in earlier builds of the game as well as peep some early graphics that were leftover in the final cut of the game! My theory for the purple W badge is that at first they only implemented Luigi and Wario colors, but then after thinking about mixing both to make Waluigi they changed the W badge to yellow as to avoid confusion
I thought otherwise it would just be Wario's signature color like Mario Kart 64 and such where Wario got it purple instead of yellow
Seeing Paper Mario 2 next to the Tales of Symphonia demo is such a nostalgia trip
I think the textbox around 3:30 is actually Goombella's Tattle ability for that area, like seen later in the video. You can see a very tiny bit of her ponytail at the top left part of the rock to the left of Mario.
The "Old Texture" for the shop 1:49 is actually used in the final release for the West Side Goods shop next to the Pianta Parlor. I never noticed it was different until after seeing this video a couple hours ago.

About 16:50; I believe the hp plus badge was swapped out for the “hook tail” key in the first part of the castle.

You should do a Where's My Water? lost bits. You have no idea how many unused stuff is in that game. There's unused levels, an animation viewer, debug buttons (although only some still work), unused objects, an unused fluid, and more.

It takes me back to when I actually remember playing one of those kiosk demos of TTYD back then. It's how I got into playing Thousand Year Door and I'm glad I got the game

Given that the Japanese word for the Chinese concept of "Tao" is "Dou," in this case "daimu" may possibly have been meant to be "time" as used as a loan word rather than "dime."

You miss one very unused thing, that no one knows (since im the only one who noticed). The glow on the floor by the thousand year door ( when using the map) was original purple [same colour of the door], instead of the blue one. You can see it on the credits a picture of it.

A lot of the unused ost tracks sound better than the used ones.
You can use Waluigi's color pallette if you equip both the L and W emblems

2:35 the dull bones enemies (or at least the red one) don't seem to have the +1 defense like they do in the final seeing as how mario can deal damage with a jump

ngl, i'm pretty excited for the remake/remaster. One of my most favorite games of all time. I even had the strategy guide for this as a kid so I easily 100% completed it. all I really had left was to fill the badge and cooking collection. thankfully the guide had all the combos in the back. Even had all the troubles listed too. I'm so glad nintendo is giving the old paper mario formula attention again. never really played anything past super paper mario.

(Alot of new stuff has come out since Beta 64’s Video that i wish for you to cover)
Most of the differences in text were from the shoddy translation the game got, it only had 3 people translating for like a month and it's a miracle the game's text was at all legible in the english release, the demo had very early poor translations they fixed up as best they could later
Maybe lost bits for others paper mario and wario master if disguise ?
I think the soles on the shoes were darkened.
