so many people say the ecoboost is shit. I work for a construction company and we own three of them, they out perform the v8s in towing and fuel millage so before you say they're shit, drive one
Agreed. My work truck is a 2015 3.5 Ecoboost F-150. It outperforms every V8 truck we have here (Chevy and other Ram's) while also averaging 3mpg better than the others.
Matt John I wouldn't put my money out on a truck that sounds like a toyota, my 2015 Sierra with the 5.3L gets 26 mpg plus I have an exhaust and it sounds amazing so I'll keep buying what is proven and tested
Mark TheCarGuy Sound doesn't make a good truck. If it sounds like a toyota, that's fine. You realize Toyota makes the most reliable vehicles on the planet right? Like it or not, smaller turbocharged engines are the future for every type of vehicle.
+lapamful- while I acknowledge that the numbers don't lie (as in, this 6 banger makes more power)...it is hard to accept. Nothing sounds like a v-8. My recommendation would be for Ford to use an EB v-8...then we'll all be happy (and have even more power). Perhaps that is what they are planning for the future...small improvements over time with the EB 5.0 for the 2019?
I wish all auto manufactures would ditch the twin turbo v6. sounds terrible turbos are hot and how am i supposed to turbo this if it already has a turbo!? haha I know I wont ever buy one.
I guess I'm the only one that likes the sound and doesn't mind the V-6, as long as it performs, who cares what it has. If anyone has seen The Grand Tour it's sad that most Americans actually do act like the American driver they have on the show. Hating anything that doesn't have a V8 regardless of what it can do because Merica!..... (and yes I'm American)
Good work Roman! It was nice to see all of the skid plates and the view from under the truck! To me, this truck really is an entirely different truck from the first Raptor. The Raptor that TFL has been using the past few years is a cool, old school, off-road muscle truck, while the new one still has impressive numbers and capabilities, but it is a different beast! I thought you calling it more of a sports car is very fitting! I can't wait to see all of your other tests off-road with this truck!
3 years later...I think it’s safe to say, despite the engineer’s prediction at 7:45, that everyone most definitely did not forget about the V8 the second they drove it. The second they drove it they were reminded how much they missed the extra 2 cylinders.
FloppyBit I didn't think there was a race. I was speaking to the reviewers comments. Still what are those Tundra numbers against the 2 door 1500 SRT Sport?
I love the stupid arguments people are making for Ford's decision not to at least offer one of their V8 engines... Yes, the new Raptor might sound like crap, but it puts down better drag times and will be more fuel efficient..... because on-road performance and fuel economy is what Raptor buyers are most concerned with.
I live beyond my means and enjoy racing old ladies in their Toyota Camrys on a daily basis. Don't tell me what I should be more or less concerned with, you!!!!
Chris C were you being sarcastic? The Ecoboost are great engines. But dude you are buying the baddest off road truck. Why would you want it to sound like shit. Raptor buyers want that v8 sound. Who cares about mpg? Your buying a raptor!!
If you're buying a truck for off road purposes why should you be concerned with on road capabilities? The old raptors are in my opinion the better ones but that's just me. After this video with mixed driving he only got 1.4 mpg better than the 6.2 that's not much. Toss in a K$N in the 6.2 and I'm sure you'll catch up a little.
I have been waiting for this TFL Truck review for about 4 months now! Thank you guys for putting out great content and awesome reviews. I have my '17 Raptor in Shadow Black ordered with the 801A equipment package, Forged aluminum bead lock capable wheels, spray in bed liner, and navigation package. I'm now just waiting for it to be built by Ford. I was initially going to purchase a TRD pro Tundra, but despite what seems to be massive disappointment regarding the 3.5 tt EcoBoost engine, that was a big selling point for me. I know the V8 sound will surely be missed, but I will gladly make that trade for the added performance this new model has. TFL Truck is one of the main reasons why i chose the new Ford Raptor over other truck options. Keep up the great work, can't wait to see part 2 tomorrow!
Hey, another Shadow Black! I'm a SCAB, 802A, bedliner, tailgate, heated steering, and tailgate step. Agree with everything, now if they'll just build and ship our trucks!
Nice choices! It's easy to skyrocket that bottom line so i tried to stay middle of the road with a few things that i wanted extra. I have my order # and dealer code, but unfortunately no VIN until Ford pulls the order to begin building. Hopefully they take care of us soon!
*clearly you have no idea what you're talking about* you do realize they choose the 6.2L... as the winner... did you even watch the comparison / series on the Ike 2.0 and original?
Can't wait to smoke them in my truck. Vast upgrade in every area over then Gen 1, except exhaust note. 25% faster in off road tests. I'll take that any day over sound.
Dude the v8 was so much faster than a "standard" f150. Unless it was the big ecoboost in the f150 which was faster. And also in no way shape or form a "standard" f150
its a truck not a fucking drag car. its a offroad truck at that. its point isn't to go fast but to go offroad and it does that very well. the v8 is more than just sound for me. its about the low end that v8's have over the EB
man, the eco boost is already not known for reliability and get far lower MPG under load / real world when compared to N/A V8's. : / but ford keeps trying to push the TTV6 onto their truck buyers. they should have put the 5.2L Voodoo V8 in here, would have been amazing and likely got better reliability + real world MPG.
My Transit van has the TTV6 with 3.73 rear end. The thing is a rocket ship and its not this H.O. version. The Voodoo supercharged would be awesome as an option . I'd personally like the Super Cab with a bench in the front and a 3.7 Naturally Aspirated V6 mated to the new 10 speed transmission. And the Ford version of the RAM Box. Those side bins on the RAM's are awesome.
Agreed. Now if they'll just build mine -_- Thanks for putting him on the spot with the winch question...could tell he didn't want to admit that you'd have to buy a relocation kit
I own a 2014 Raptor and love it but if it could loose 500 pounds and become more powerful... Seems like everyone is forgetting the truck is more than what comes from the tail pipe. I am the first to say they sound like a toy and not like mine with the Corsa exhaust but the sound of fast and the sound of powerful is changing. Look at all the people that are buying current 3.5 liter engines as the upgrade, they are here to stay. I am curious as to how Roman your getting 14 mpg in yours as I sit here parked I am looking at 11.2 average over 42,264 miles. Living in Dallas mine doesn't see much off-roading. Here is a better question for you Roman after spending time in the new one and after owning the previous model which would you choose?
Hands down the best truck you can buy!!! No competition whatsoever!!! Ford owns the pickup segment for a reason, and the Raptor is a demonstration of their expertise!!!
I had a Raptor, but traded it in for a Tacoma TRD with a 3" lift. It was a good truck, but it was so damn big. It didn't fit down most of the trails here in Colorado, and it needed a bit more ground clearance.
I just want a V8. Even if it's just as reliable, more fuel efficient and has more power, the Ecoboost sounds like a leaf blower. It doesn't belong in this vehicle.
***** Well, you don't know how poor or wealthy I am, so that statement was worthless. As for not giving a fuck, you gave enough of a fuck to comment. Clearly my words are deeply hurting you.
Ryan Martinage The typical buyer does not buy this type of vehicle for practical purposes or economical reasons, they buy it because it's what they want and feeds their feeling. You must drive a Corolla or something.
Skipper I agree, I think the sales won't be great. This is for car guys/girls because it is lighter, and has turbos. Truck people will always want that American V8.
Chevy guy here, but absolutely love this truck. Kudos to Ford...again! So happy GM came out with the Colorado ZR2, and hopefully this will lead to a fullsize. They just don't realize there is a market for these fullsize trucks, as Ford has proven. Everybody get to it and push Ram to build the Rebel TRX and Nissan to build the Warrior!! WE need this class to expand!!
The old frame was a beast and people still managed to bend it. Looks like they have upped the frame game even more. I am sure that in every performance measure this is a leap beyond the old Raptor. I know it would be slower, but I still wish they offered the option of the coyote in the Raptor. It just isn't the same without that rumble.
JDK Well that's where Nissan and Dodge comes in. In no hell they would put a V6 in their Rebel TRX and Titan Warrior. Although for Nissan they might just slap a GTR engine in it if the do make one (and that would suck.)
and the salespeople talk about how good it sounds all the time. theyve obviously just admitted it sound sliek shit by pumping v8 noises though the speakers
I always enjoy Roman's reviews. he's such an upbeat guy, it's infectious. The new Raptor is an awesome truck. I don't see why they don't offer the V6 and the V8. The 6.2 is a great engine. why not add it to the lineup?
Hey tfl Get a base level raptor to test. Most people can't afford a $70,000 truck. Try to get one as close to $50,000 as possible for your long term tester
OFFRD its not for the average buyer. its a specialized vehicle with a lot of unique features which will increase the price a lot. its realistically for people who have a lot money to blow but still need functionality but also want to have some fun offroad
$50K Raptor is impossible to find as a dealer ordered vehicle. You'd probably have to order one through the dealership if you're wanting to stay near base without options.
Had a 2010 Raptor 6.2 with 110k miles. That V8 sound was worth the 10-12mpg average, and I've never sat in more comfortable seats. Decided I wanted a small car this time around and went with a Focus ST with the ST3 Recaro package and my back is sore constantly, and I swear the Raptor felt more sporty. Oh well. Maybe in 2020, I can pick up one of these new Raptors.
its nice but I will keep my 2011 Raptor. I have a real v8 sound and I don't have to worry about turbos ever failing. good luck putting a winch on the inside of the front bumper because the Intercoolers are now in the way
The carbon fiber on the shifter and texturing on the back of the real metal paddles are a nice touch. My dad's Porsche Carrera has slick plastic paddles I cant stand. To all the people who complain about it not being a V8: just put two eco-boost engines together and boom, 7.0L V-12
Would prefer a normally aspirated v8. Engines have become too complicated. If Ford shaved 500 lbs off the Raptor, then w/ a v8 it should be able to comply with EPA guidelines.
it's not about the EPA guidelines (especially after Trump's win), it's about achieving a more powerful truck. you know the V8 is a lot heavier than a V6, right?
Spoutnik probably not much of a difference between the v8 when you factor in the extra weight of the turbos, cold side piping, intercooler, and other things to support the turbo v6
Andrew Padilla more reliable? this engine hasnt been out long enough to call it reliable. its the same as the previous 3.5 just cranked up. the extra power may just reveal some problems that the outgoing 3.5 got away with
Nippledozer Oh and let me guess you're an expert right? I'm sure you've owned a tone of Fords that have all crapped out on you or your dear ol Dad loved chevy to death so you just followed suit right? Shut up gay boy.
ben better Not sure why we're lookin at sales numbers, but if we are, you should keep in mind that the gmc and chevy 1500 twins outsold the f150. Ive been working on cars for years and ford never ceases to amaze me with poor engineering. Do some research into their "special" spark plugs... lol
So, by not putting the 6.2 V8 they improved mpg from 11 city/ 16 hwy to 15 city/ 18 hwy. Unfortunately it's not an apples to apples comparison due to the lighter weight, better aerodynamics, and four extra gears in the new transmission. Since fuel economy improved around ten percent or so in 2015 compared to the 2014 models and the ten speed only improved mpg by one, I'd suspect that the 6.2 V8 could match the new mpg figures. A carryover 6.2 V8 from the 2014 Raptor swapped in probably could get the same hwy mpg as this Raptor, city mpg would probably be around one mpg less. That's all also not taking into consideration the fact that ecoboost engines have not been able to reliably achieve the advertised mpg in a good majority of test and reviews. A quick search shows an Edmund's mpg comparison with the 5.0 V8 tying in real world with the 2.7 Ecoboost. I fear that Ford is attempting to get rid of the V8 options all together and force everyone to get the Ecoboost. On the bright side, with the new Raptor coming out, I'll be able to scoop up a used Raptor cheaper....
+SRT2014 thanks for the thoughtful comment. Ford also points out that the 3.5L is a much more modern engine as it is aluminum vs the Iron block V8, directed injected and turbo charged vs normally aspirated.
The Fast Lane Truck Yeah I guess Ford didn't consider that fuel economy is like the last thing someone buying a truck like the raptor cares about. Should have went with a v8 or ya know reinvent the wheel and make a better v8 put that R&D department to work ya know.
My wife drives a 2015 Edge Sport Ecoboost and I drive a 2016 SRT Charger 392. I get better gas mileage than she does. And when we go anywhere she wants to take my car because it sounds like a beast. Even women are attracted to the sound of the V8 is my point. I'm not saying I don't enjoy switching up and driving the Edge now and then because it really does make good power. But I'm an American Muscle guy and as much as I would love to own a Raptor, I would go with the Dodge Ram before over paying for this new V6.
Peter Griffin the Shelby f150 with the supercharged coyote makes 700 horsepower. You are dreaming if you think a tune will get that ecoboost from 450 to 700.
No way with a tune will it get the Shelby ! It maybe slightly lighter maybe !? You have twin snails under the hood and less 2 cyl but have all the plumbing to go with .. I think sooner then later this little engine will wear out after all the abuse ... No Replacement For Displacement .!.!
For all of you loosing your mind about it not being a v8, its all about the torque curve. The twin turbos have a massive torque cure all over the power band. Im sure when we see and hear reviews about these things hitting the trails and sand dunes wide open the lucky Raptor owners will understand why they decided to go with a H.O. 3.5 Ecoboost.
put a fucking v8 in it! I want my trucks to last and not be plagued with issues...I want it to sound like a truck ..I don't want lag when rock crawling or hill climbs...someone should start doing engine swaps and throw a 6.2 in it
trevor philips tried to do a swap kit for the raptor with a v8 from the f150 but ford won't sell them and they won't pass emissions. But I hope someone figures it out
Lag is nearly imperceptible with the 10sp auto. The only time you can notice any lag with an ecoboost is with a manual trans, and even then there is very little. But even with that, the 3.5L EcoBoost has more mid range torque than an NA V8. And nobody is going to rock crawl a Raptor. its huge size and IFS puts an end to that. But if you did, lag isnt an issue anyway, as you would be in low range. And in low range, you could have a tiny engine in there and crawl just fine.
I love new technology. Lots of power while being efficient. It's fascinating. With that said. I don't want any of it. I don't want a self driving car. I don't want blind spot monitoring. Nor do I want adaptive cruise. People get careless when they rely on computer assistance. Ill drive my 13 year old V8 and I'll just watch reviews like this to see the new tech. Hopefully v8s don't die off for fuel economy completely
We want the V8. Fuck the V6 Turbo "Ecoboost" bullshit, if you're worried about fuel economy then you shouldn't be buying a truck and should get a fucking Fiesta instead.
Actually associating Manliness or "penis size" to preference of trucks or small cars shows how insecure you are... he has an opinion that he doesn't want a small emotionless engine, what does that have to do with penis size?
It's NEVER going to sound as good as a big V8, but other than that, this is a home run. Better in every way. It's looks are actually kind of tame. I wanted more aggressive style. 0-60 in 6.2 is no better than the competition. Maybe the tires hurt it here?
All the people complaining about it not having a V8 were probably the same people that complained when EFI came out. It makes power, you can turn up the boost, it gets better fuel economy, and it's in compliance with current emissions standards. Be happy that comapines can still make these trucks with the strict standards that are placed upon them. Get over it. The future is here.
F-150 KING OF TRUCKS "true dual cat back" doesn't mean anything. my point is it sounds like shit. by using a resonator or doing some level of sound tuning, they can get rid of the terrible rasp.
F-150 KING OF TRUCKS if you don't think different materials, pipe sizing, a x-pipe, a resonator, or anything else will change the exhaust tone, there is no hope for you bud SMH.
"like i said its not going to growl". No, you didn't say that. Just like I never said it was a v8. All I said is you could tune an exhaust to get the rasp out. You think it sounds good, I think it sounds like shit. Leave it at that, it's called an opinion. Stop bending what was said to suit your point of view
"Hopefully it will sound better with an aftermarket exhaust...." You're the one who decided to whine about my original comment, dude. You obviously cannot tell the difference between whining, statement of fact, and opinion. Typical F150 owner...lmfao..
yinyeung674 how nany times did he mentioned part 2? ever since Carter created the dept. of education americans are getting dumber by the day. you are my direct evidence. the defense rests your honor
yinyeung674 yes you are. your assumining. hauling 80 miles an hour on off road trails is a helluva lot more exciting that crawling over fucking boulders
bajaman19 where would the failure points be? On the other 2 link points? I know 4 links are way stronger than leaf springs with way more suspension travel. Also leaf springs do not eliminate axel wrap. Thanks for the input
BS!!!!I don't care about the noise i care about the numbers. The numbers are tremendous! Power, handling, economy that is what really counts. Ford have hit the head of the needle and therefore deserve all the credit for it! Congratulations excellent truck!
I know, that after one or two years they will offer also great american V8. The sales numbers of that ecoboost after one year will be the same like 7 years ago with the 5.4L V8. Americans want big engines like 6.2L BOSS. And Trump already sent an application for V8´s to the new Raptor. Because "Make America Great Again". Back to days in 2011 when the Raptor got 6.2L V8. The best thing will be, if the customers will be able to choose between 3.5L Twin Turbo V6 Ecoboost and little bit upgraded 6.2L V8. Please Ford, do it.
tyler boyer I'm also interested about RAM Rebel TRX. I hope that the TRX will come to the production during the next year. Engine is the most important thing for me. Big American V8's are extremely powerfull, reliable and made for long time. God Bless America. Peace!
Paul Maly yeah the trx would be cool and chrysler would be stupid not to build it in some way. maybe with the 6.4 or the 5.7. like a upgraded version of the rebel
Paul Maly i will definitely buy it or the power wagon have not decided yet. i think the 6.2 supercharged will drive the price way up compared to the 6.4 or the 5.7
Wow some people commenting have no idea. The ONLY negative thing about the V6 EcoBoost engine over the 5.4/6.2 V8 is the lack of that awesome V8 rumble. That's it. Otherwise this engine makes more power and does it sooner in the lower RPM's as well. Also when climbing mountains you lose power with the NA V8 engine as you gain attitude and lose air density but you won't with a turbocharged engine. I've got a small SUV with an ecoboost and love it. I've also got a Mustang GT that I turbocharged. I love the V8 rumble but I'd be willing to compromise with this truck.
Shawn Barnish sound gives the truck character and sometimes character is worth the sacrifice of gas. It's a fucking 6,500 pound truck. It's not supposed to do anything "ECO" related leave that to a hybrid. It's a truck. It needs a durable reliable nice big v8 straight up.
so many people say the ecoboost is shit.

Mike/Connor Haley Based on anything you can measure. More low end torque, better MPG, towing capacity. Name it, the Ecoboost is better.
Mark TheCarGuy Sound doesn't make a good truck. If it sounds like a toyota, that's fine. You realize Toyota makes the most reliable vehicles on the planet right? Like it or not, smaller turbocharged engines are the future for every type of vehicle.
A Raptor without a V8 is like a T-Rex without teeth!
Darryl Benson or balls
lapamful or a bodybuilder without muscle.
+lapamful- while I acknowledge that the numbers don't lie (as in, this 6 banger makes more power)...it is hard to accept. Nothing sounds like a v-8. Yeah, because the number of cylinders is obviously the single most important part of a vehicle
I wish all auto manufactures would ditch the twin turbo v6. sounds terrible turbos are hot and how am i supposed to turbo this if it already has a turbo!? haha I know I wont ever buy one.
most people complaining on here couldn't afford a brand new truck anyways let alone a raptor. Go find something else to cry about
Buck's Shots I cant afford to buy it but I can lease it right now if I wanted.
Can I bitch about it some now?
Haha
😂😂😂
Finally, a review without long & loud music! This is what a car review should be, just focus on the cars, not the music! Really appreciate it.
I guess I'm the only one that likes the sound and doesn't mind the V-6, as long as it performs, who cares what it has. Darn Shahab! Oh well, second is still good... and @TFLtruck I was waiting for you to upload this video!
Thank you for waiting! We are shooting the off-road video today and will upload within the next couple of days.
The Fast Lane Truck Awesome! Gotta keep up with my Facebook page and it's over 2,100 likers! :D
The Fast Lane Truck Cool. Great video
Herman Johnson Second is probably going to be just as good! Love these guys!
3 years later...I think it’s safe to say, despite the engineer’s prediction at 7:45, that everyone most definitely did not forget about the V8 the second they drove it. The second they drove it they were reminded how much they missed the extra 2 cylinders.
Wow 5 seconds in a pick up truck with warranty! Im in love
5 seconds of what? 0-60 was over 6 seconds
not the only truck that has a full warantee and a 5 second truck.
Ram 1500 SRT Sport.....been doing it for years.
RayJ-HT Tundra sc is still faster
FloppyBit I didn't think there was a race. I was speaking to the reviewers comments. Still what are those Tundra numbers against the 2 door 1500 SRT Sport?
Glad the video finally came out. I am a Ford loyalist. It's still a Raptor no matter what it sounds like. 👍🏼
You can never forget about about a v8, dream on.
The 10 speed is brutal though,
changes very quickly.
Every time that rep talked I wanted to bang my head against the wall.
I love the stupid arguments people are making for Ford's decision not to at least offer one of their V8 engines...

the funniest part is that the 3.5L TTV6 is larger and heavier than the 5.0 and it completely dwarfs the ultra compact / light weight 6.2L from GM.
Well the 6.2L from GM is a single can pushrod motor so of course
bold statement to make with 0 proof..lets see how it plays out cotton
bolt? 0 proof? TFL's own ike gauntlet tests prove my statement... 3.3 MPG vs 4.0
yes we know the 2.7 destroyed the 6.2 on the hill. what i was inquiring about was your comparison of weight and size to the new engine and the 6.2
*clearly you have no idea what you're talking about* you do realize they choose the 6.2L... as the winner... did you even watch the comparison / series on the Ike 2.0 and original?
Another unbiased review from TFLT.
Harbour freight should sell a truck so i can afford it.
but it would fall apart and it wouldn't be covered by the warranty
I would buy the extended 2 year warranty and my vehicles fall apart anyhow
rob armstrong Make sure you use the 20% off coupon when you purchase you're new Raptor.
Sweet ! Will also read up on the hf reviews for the rapter
The best Truck news channel!
All the V8 cry babies crack me up. The last generation was slower than a standard F150, and got shit for fuel mileage.
Can't wait to smoke them in my truck. Vast upgrade in every area over then Gen 1, except exhaust note. 25% faster in off road tests. I'll take that any day over sound.
exactly.

tyler boyer 510ftlbs @3500rpm is better than any V8 right now. GM 6.2 does 460@4100, Ram 6.4 429@4000.
Finally, I have been waiting for a long time.
man, the eco boost is already not known for reliability and get far lower MPG under load / real world when compared to N/A V8's.
Those side bins on the RAM's are awesome.
i just want the N/A 5.2 :(
go for it. i guess torque isnt important to you....
the last 6.2L in the raptor did just fine with a high revving engine and lower torque.
neither of us mentioned the 6.2. you only mentioned the 5.2
I have always been a GM guy and also a former Taco owner. I have to admit though, this looks like a very capable and fun truck.
Thanks for this video! Can't wait to get one of those next year!
You are welcome!
Agreed. Now if they'll just build mine -_-
Thanks for putting him on the spot with the winch question...could tell he didn't want to admit that you'd have to buy a relocation kit
Great review, you get better each time. Really like the commentary on the V8, and also liked the view underneath at the skid plates!
Ford is just killing the game right now!!! Love this truck
The eco boost is alright but Ford should give you a v8 option
Jay Carden Exactly fullsize trucks shouldn't have v6s in them in the first place. especially the raptor.
*Ford has a V8 you idiot*
yea but they dont offer it in the 2017 raptor.
Mike Panocatapolis
*Where's Raptor's Competition?*
Escape for Mankind is Keith Johnson lol who's the idiot? I know Ford has a v8 but not in the new raptors
Hands down the best truck you can buy!!! No competition whatsoever!!! Ford owns the pickup segment for a reason, and the Raptor is a demonstration of their expertise!!!
Sucks the V8 is gone, but can't blame them, the EPA is putting a lot of pressure. Even so, this EcoBoost is pretty badass.
Johnny Martinez Lighter, more power and better fuel economy. Critics to Ford "You F'd up!"
Daywalker_27 most people, myself included, just the like sound and feel of a V8.
Glad to see you read their script.
This thing sounds EXACTLY like a Buick Grand National. Love it.
Love that you called him out on the winch deal
Only gets 45 less torque than a 5L turbocharged V8 diesel Nissan Titan ...now that is amazing
This is why you don't make vehicles. Even if its better in every way, I dont care. I just want the pretty sounds. Wut.
clovehitch NICE MAN
***** Well, you don't know how poor or wealthy I am, so that statement was worthless.
All this people hating on the V6TT and they cant even afford it haha how stupid lmao.
Got my 18 4x4 supercab for 28,800 2 weeks ago. Affordable for just about anyone.
Computerized sound.... what is the earth coming too?
JDK its sad.. BMW M cars do this also.
Not a fan
JDK Well that's where Nissan and Dodge comes in. In no hell they would put a V6 in their Rebel TRX and Titan Warrior. Although for Nissan they might just slap a GTR engine in it if the do make one (and that would suck.)
the titan warrior has the 5.0 Cummins that is in the Titan XD.
and the salespeople talk about how good it sounds all the time. theyve obviously just admitted it sound sliek shit by pumping v8 noises though the speakers
by far the Baddest factory Truck on the planet! great job Ford these are gonna be going like crazy
I always enjoy Roman's reviews. he's such an upbeat guy, it's infectious. The new Raptor is an awesome truck. I don't see why they don't offer the V6 and the V8. The 6.2 is a great engine. why not add it to the lineup?
Great work Roman!
+S. Central Keystone thank you and thanks for watching!
I love it. I love everything about it.
I was going to agree with you, but I'm not looking forward to the payments and having to wait even longer.
But it will be well worth it.
T4nkc0mm4nd3r lol, well yeah... payments would be awful. I want one, but it's too much for me at the moment.
Cannot wait for the 2017. I was quizzical about that color until I saw it in this vid. Love it.
Hey tfl Get a base level raptor to test. Most people can't afford a $70,000 truck. Try to get one as close to $50,000 as possible for your long term tester
+Luke Prys that's going to be hard to do
Most people can't afford a $50,000 truck either. How about $30,000?
OFFRD its not for the average buyer. its a specialized vehicle with a lot of unique features which will increase the price a lot. its realistically for people who have a lot money to blow but still need functionality but also want to have some fun offroad
$50K Raptor is impossible to find as a dealer ordered vehicle. You'd probably have to order one through the dealership if you're wanting to stay near base without options.
Millennials with a gender studies degree can't afford anything, how about a free truck?
It sounds like crap, but like the truck though!
time for an engine and tranny swap
tyler boyer yea
Taylor James that would be good. i have heard of that being a possibility
tyler boyer I think maybe the Coyote engine will introduced for a Raptor series
Ricky G maybe. that would be awsome
The EcoBoost is great and getting better for each generation.
Dustin muenchow yeah but then it takes up less space. also an improved fuel economy of 3 MPG isn't bad.
boy you just watched it only make 1.4mpg better
no it dont, check the website they give different numbers boy
I see a lot of criticism for this car but I'd be happy to have him!
Thanks the exact build I want! Ford hook me up!
Being able to hold compression in the turbo is awesome!
As a Ford fan, this is disappointing. I don't want a raptor that sounds like my weed eater. They could have done better.
Andrew Padilla that weed eater engine is way better than that old v8
jj Watson I agree it's a more reliable and more powerful engine. I just wish they could do more with the sound.
Andrew Padilla very true but what i will say the v8 have proven their selves for a long ass time so thats why alot of people arent for a tt v6 truck
Andrew Padilla more reliable? this engine hasnt been out long enough to call it reliable. its the same as the previous 3.5 just cranked up. the extra power may just reveal some problems that the outgoing 3.5 got away with
Andrew Padilla the 3.5 has more torque.
What kind of warrantee comes with the Raptor? Same as their other trucks? How was the road noise on the highway? Thanks for the great review.
Screw the fuel economy, we want the v8 back!
Their book "Truck Nuts" arrived today and love it!
When I'm done with my Xterra, this is next.
Going to be plagued with recalls and tsbs and unsolvable problems
as almost every new engine does
jaysplace01 3.5 ecoboost is far from new... its going to have problems because its a ford.
Nippledozer Oh and let me guess you're an expert right? I'm sure you've owned a tone of Fords that have all crapped out on you or your dear ol Dad loved chevy to death so you just followed suit right? Shut up gay boy.
Nippledozer oh i know I was referring to the raptors 3.5L since it has a few different part but yea ford is kinda shit so theres that XD
ben better Not sure why we're lookin at sales numbers, but if we are, you should keep in mind that the gmc and chevy 1500 twins outsold the f150.
SRT2014
Your leaving out the extra 39 horsepower and 76 torque.
Roman's new obsession. The benchmark he will undoubtably measure EVERYTHING against in 2017.
Why not Supercharged V8 like the Shelby truck ?
Because with a tune, I have no doubt in my mind that this would smoke a Shelby truck
I'm just going by what I've seen, the Shelby truck seems kinda sluggish. It's what it seemed like to me after watching a review on it.
Do you not even realize that V8s are dying due to emission regulations. Enjoy them while they last my friends.... I'll be missing them dearly
It may make more power than he last generation but i will never get over how it sounds like a honda civic no thank you i will stick to my v8s
QuadManAustyn99 truu
Finally, Roman dream came true. He waited for so long.
put a fucking v8 in it! I want my trucks to last and not be plagued with issues...I want it to sound like a truck ..I don't want lag when rock crawling or hill climbs...someone should start doing engine swaps and throw a 6.2 in it
trevor philips you'll see LS swaps out the ass with this thing lol
trevor phillips If you want a truck that lasts and not plagued with issues and sounds like a real V-8 just get a Tundra
trevor philips tried to do a swap kit for the raptor with a v8 from the f150 but ford won't sell them and they won't pass emissions.
The amount of Turbo stress offroad from this engine is going to be insane, I'd take the V-8 for that reason alone
Been waiting for this!!! Looking fwd to part II.
+CraigyMonster Part 2 is coming early tomorrow morning.
this ford guy sounds like a politician... that's not a good thing...
Great video guys!
Wow!!! That v6 sound kills the whole meaning of a big badass raptor not digging it 😕
Ricky Perez agreed!
i bet that the sales will be so bad because of this that they will bring back the 6.2L V8
Ricky Perez it is rumored that ford is working on a new v8 for the raptor
Twin turbo too
Ricky Perez yep the look is good the price is good but the sound.....
It's an amazing truck, but it sounds awful.
My goodness that truck is awesome.
We want the V8. Fuck the V6 Turbo "Ecoboost" bullshit, if you're worried about fuel economy then you shouldn't be buying a truck and should get a fucking Fiesta instead.
Tom Dickinson it's not ford's fault it's the EPA
Go fuck your pig !
adrian sims Excuse me?
i went from a 2014 f150 to a Fiesta St . But my penis is big so i dont mind.
Maybe the tires hurt it here?
augmented engine sound?! i can't think of anything more insulting! that's a deal breaker for me.
*What do you do for Money?*
Escape for Mankind is Keith Johnson emergency physician
Steven Peterson
*You sound very unsophisticated for a Doctor.*
Escape for Mankind is Keith Johnson haha, whatever that means
lmfao
Love your enthusiasm! Thanks for the review.
I want one!
The future is here.
toyota called...they want their tacoma exhaust note back
I've got a 2011 Tacoma with their TRD exhaust and it sounds exactly like this raptor hahaha
man ow man I want one now. Thanks for the video it was awesome.
Hopefully it will sound better with an aftermarket exhaust....
F-150 KING OF TRUCKS care to elaborate?
F-150 KING OF TRUCKS
"true dual cat back" doesn't mean anything. my point is it sounds like shit. by using a resonator or doing some level of sound tuning, they can get rid of the terrible rasp.
F-150 KING OF TRUCKS
if you don't think different materials, pipe sizing, a x-pipe, a resonator, or anything else will change the exhaust tone, there is no hope for you bud SMH.
Roman and Crew- Please ask Ford when they will be finally shipping built Raptors for those of us that have trucks sitting at the factory! Thanks!!
please show more rock crawling capabilities instead of boring trails driving.
+yinyeung674 please wait until part 2
Thank you.
yinyeung674
how nany times did he mentioned part 2? ever since Carter created the dept. of education americans are getting dumber by the day. you are my direct evidence.
the defense rests your honor
PrimeMover I know he mentioned part 2. The key word here is MORE. I am not as dumb as you think. Perhaps you need to learn how to read.
yinyeung674
yes you are. your assumining.
hauling 80 miles an hour on off road trails is a helluva lot more exciting that crawling over fucking boulders
Can't deny that's a beautiful truck though!
7:40 hell no we will never forget the V8
excited for this truck can't wait to get my hands on it
Why didnt Ford use a 4 link for the new Raptor? Dodge been using them. Forget leaf springs
SoCal Mac less failure points would be my guess. but not sure. leaf Springs work though.
bajaman19 where would the failure points be? On the other 2 link points? I know 4 links are way stronger than leaf springs with way more suspension travel. Also leaf springs do not eliminate axel wrap. Thanks for the input
Agreed, this truck won't be so much a work truck as a sport truck
Cost saving - leaf springs are cheaper.
Jack dN I disagree. Raptors start at around 48,325. That should be standard especially for its class
Really hope you get a long term vehicle!!!!! You guys rock!
Love he truck, but it sounds terrible.
Thanks.... loved the review! One question: did you like it more or less than the old Raptor?
It's not 30 percent approach angle it's degree lol!
Please Ford, do it.
i wouldnt mind that. as a option the ecoboost is good but not as a ram it down our throats
tyler boyer I'm also interested about RAM Rebel TRX. I hope that the TRX will come to the production during the next year. Engine is the most important thing for me. Big American V8's are extremely powerfull, reliable and made for long time. God Bless America. Peace!
Paul Maly yeah the trx would be cool and chrysler would be stupid not to build it in some way. maybe with the 6.4 or the 5.7. like a upgraded version of the rebel
tyler boyer I looking forward What decision will Chrysler do. I hope, because TRX with 6.2 supercharged HEMI will be great rival for the Raptor.
*EcoBeast
I want it. So ridiculous yet so awesome. Almost enough to swap my STI and Tacoma for.
yes first
Lucky you! Lol
Good to see that Americans are moving forward with their engines.
