This is how i look at it if you can afford a new Raptor $2,000 is not going to break the bank. 😊 Good video
Yeah, sadly most of that is inflation. But considering I'd lose shadow black, my moonroof (SCABS no longer get them) and selectable ambient lighting, I'd rather stick with my 17 and then get the shocks later when my stockers need a rebuild.
And this time next year, "If you can afford a new Raptor, $2,000 is not going to break the bank." And this time in 2020, "If you can afford a new Raptor, $2,000 is not going to break the bank." And this time in 2021... yeah, you can't use that logic forever. Eventually people will realize than they're just paying for hype.
Fordsuperduty76
It is more than $2k when u add the wheels, and panaramo roof. More like $3.7k
Not a fan of live shocks!!
@@frankmanning3815 In all fairness, Toyota has been doing that with the Tundra since 2014. (Some say 2007)
I own a 2017 with around 10k miles on it and love it! I have owned extremely fast sports cars and prefer this just because I can drive across the fields at 50mph and not think twice about it. The problem is not the sticker, it's dealers jacking up the price 10-20k.
Beechmont Ford in Cincinnati ohio sells Raptors for $2,000 under STICKER.
Ya we sell them at invoice. Call around
nebraska farmer Dang guys, We don’t jack prices up on any car. We sold a GT350R at MSRP! But we still get MSRP out of Raptors too. Don’t go killing our profits! It’s already hard enough making a living in this business with everyone trying to beat us up on every deal. We need that easy sticker deal on a Raptor 3-4 times a year
Coming from a guy who trash talked trucks his entire life, I’m in love with my 2019 Raptor! I never thought one vehicle could be so good at high speed off road, rock crawling, towing AND so comfortable as a daily driver!! 😍😍😍
Traded in my 2017 Chevy Silverado z71 LTZ 6.2 v8 on a new Raptor.....never looked back. Handles better, smoother and faster.
Good Man.Thumbs up to you. The Twin Turbo is a Really strong and fast Engine. I have one in my FX4 F150.
@@allworldsksaxon7992 i'm pretty sure its the fastest half tonne from the TFL done race. Always loved the twin turbo
I love my 2019 Raptor. You only live once.
you probably dont give a shit but does someone know a trick to get back into an instagram account??
I somehow forgot my password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me!
@Ronin Lennox instablaster =)
I would like a comfort mode button as well. The Live Valve shocks should do everything the old ones do plus more. If the on-road ride is stiffer with no way to soften it back up, that's a negative. It still has more positives than negatives compared to 2017 and 2018, but could have easily been quite a bit better.
21:20 - You can turn off the augmented engine sound in the cabin via your local Dealer's service dept, they use their IDS tool to do so. It is too bad it can't be done via a dash setting but it was worth the hassle to have it turned off nonetheless.
Very informative with key points touched on. PowerWagon earned its prominence over decades, the Raptor came into its own quickly & dominated. Give the devil his due, one handled Black Bear Pass pretty well. It’s never been a work truck, it’s always been a lifestyle truck.
Yeah, it’s odd to be an Internet connected mobile hotspot without navigation “go anywhere... just hope you’re familiar with the area” .... but your phone always accesses the latest Google Map whereas mobile GPS/Vehicle GPS needs periodic updates.
Perhaps the fact it came from out of nowhere and dominated a niche nobody knew you could enjoy without a pit crew, sponsors & team of engineers is why people expect More & More, Sooner & Sooner
It can still do a decent amount of work too. My SCAB has a pretty crappy tow rating, don't get me wrong, but the Supercrew has better metrics than the trucks our parents and grandparents drove.
I still prefer the Power Wagon.
I’d love the PowerWagon too.
@@T4nkcommander why would you need to tow your toys when your raptor is the toy
The Lincoln mode is brilliant idea.Thumbs up if you agree and Ford maybe notice
Totally agree
My 2014 is just comfortable on roadtrip truck. They need a soft ride button.
I love the 3.5 in my f-150 but for the love of god put the 5.0 or 5.2 in in the raptor and supercharge or twin turbo it
Codi Branch - they should put the engine from the GT super car in it.
TeensierPython - the problem is the big complaint is the sound of the v6 I hear that from my customers all the time as well as the expense that goes into that high performance 3.5 ecoboost the 5.2 is already there and a supercharger is an easy mod just bolt it up to the ten speed and let er tip
@Codie Branch The fact is...less than 2% of all pickups sold in the US meet or exceed the $65,000 threshold.
The large truck and suv market is in a bubble and when it bursts and fuel prices reach a national average of $5 or even $6/gal, you better be prepared. Large trucks and SUV market will suffer first and ultimately the hardest.
ɹǝɔʞๅǝss ɐqɐupou idk what that has to do with anything I posted lol
@@user-pt6io2cq9n Don't go using logic against Codi.
Would love thes shocks on my 2v .. almost over 789.000km and not problem yet .. just keep up with the maintenance and your ole ford will live a long time
Damn. That's a lot of miles
@@low87dawg86 490K Miles damnnnnnnnn
Yeah but if you actually jump these raptors or take them on very rough roads at high speeds eventually it's just gonna tear the truck apart.
My dad has an 01 2v with 427,000 miles on it that we use for hunting. It’s been a bullet proof truck! I agree with you on doing your maintenance!
TRY THAT WITH A 3V 5.4 LOL
Nice video! Liked how the Ford rep explained the shocks. Good talker really informative. That's a sick nasty truck!I doubt I'll ever afford one but one can dream
I just picked up a 2011 Raptor for 26K. Love it so much...
Still love the raptor.
I love Andre cause he loves the Raptor as much as me!
Wow. Much Want. I don't care what brand you like. This truck is awesome.
Powerwagon don't care :3 also the ram rebel trx is going to eat the raptor
@@tylerschilling8742 lol powerwagon sucks shits slow 🤣😂🤣
@@tylerschilling8742 as far as the trx who cares you cant afford one if your talking about a powerwagon
@@tylerschilling8742 btw Raptor R in 2022 will feed the trx its own asshole lol
@@Arizona-Tactical so what powerwagons have a base price of 53 grand
I like a truck ride all the time. But I remember when I would drive my mom and grandma, they didn't like it. It would be cool to be able to tune the suspension to 'Lincoln' mode.
The Recaro seats add 20HP
I agree with you Roman regarding man with machine off-road. The first time I used hill decent in my '16 Power Wagon was a very disconcerting experience. I think I've used it one more time in the Moab area, but it was more mental backup to my right foot.
Thanks for showing the beadlock cutaway, really interesting👍
Great video, excellent attention to detail. I really appreciate the explanation for the live valve technology Fox shocks
love it. but call me old school, shocks have way too much going on which means more stuff to break especially anything electronic. Id rather have some “good normal” shocks.
and you can stay on the pavement with them and that's about it.
I’d agree but these actually are fairly old school mechanically speaking...they just have one component bolted on to preload the damping based on existing sensors the truck already has. If that all fails they are still just regular off-road shocks so not that big of a deal. Magnetically controlled suspension is maybe what you’re thinking of?
@@edekitrex592 Except that you would get all kinds of lights on the dash if the electronic piece failed on one of the shocks.
@@13christbane Right man, because the first gen raptor obviously cant go anywhere but the pavement with its "good normal" shocks right?
Baron Volkov I mean I guess you would get lights on if your body control module failed sure...that would happen regardless of the shocks using that information or not so not exactly a different experience for someone with these shocks or not. My point was that these shocks use existing information from sensors already in place so really this isn’t some super advanced suspension and nothing major was added to the truck to make it work.
I agree they should have those shocks on a dial in the cab
Bought my son a 18 model and love it! Does it sound like the 6.2 NO!! But it will sure out perform the 6.2! I think I may buy myself the 19 Model!!
Chris Chitwood your son is very lucky to have you as a father
@@dxburner222 Thanks, he is serving in the Coast Guard and I am very proud of him! He is a fine young man and it makes me happy to be able to do it for him!
Are you interesting in adopting me as another son? LOL, They're great trucks. Never thought I'd spend that kind of money on a truck, but I love my 2017.
@@dahveed284 No I am tapped out! My son is in the Coast Guard and I figured he saved me a bunch of money since his College is being paid for by the GI Bill! Well that is how my wife convinced me to do it!!! Great trucks though, hope you have a great Christmas!!
That's awesome. I have twin sons and hope to buy them each a Raptor in 14 more years when they turn 18. If I make it that long.
nice jacket andre. I agree with roman with the ride quality. I love these trucks wish I could afford one.
Ford raptor is beautiful truck, but in my opinion Ford should give a 5.0 litre coyote v8 that would be okay.
and add on twin turbo pack. This is a an off road racing rig so let's go all the way.
Shahrukh Abbas or they could take the supercharged 5.0 coyote out of the Range Rover and put it in the Raptor
They will bring back the V8 when GM or Ram comes out with something to compete. Right now its more than good enough for the market.. they invented this market and nobody is challenging them to bring back the V8
They actually removed the v8 to reduce nose dive.
I think it was a smart idea
@@Svhopowa I think it was less about nosedive and more about fuel economy and power to weight ratio..
Take out a bunch of weight and reinvested in strengths for the frame on top of adding power
Great video lots of information what a beautiful truck but I wish they could make them just a little more affordable 👍🔧🔧
I like the engine cover for the raptor because it says "Ford Performance" on each side!
Just order a ruby red one can’t wait!😁
Awesome review guys!
I got $453.37, take my money Ford. I'm taking that truck home.
dsparke93 hopefully you have that every two weeks, then your good

I’m working overtime at subway to buy this truck with the help of my mom as a co signer and assistance with the down payment. Woman are gonna come at me running 🏃♀️
john martin you’ll get more puss with a gym membership and f150 xlt dude don’t kid yourself
S 1 my man you are hating on money and success, you must be a democrat.
Those shocks are bad asss........makes me want to trade in my 2018 Raptor. Almost!!!
Moses trade it in when the 2020 7.0L V8 comes out
I'd love one.
If I could sleep in the back with ac on and the engine running..
Let's go bronco!
Now I want to upgrade my 17 to a 19 just for the shocks!
I was tempted, but since the SCABs lose the moonroof, I'd be paying about $3k more for it, and I don't like Agate black as much as Shadow, plus we'd lose color-selectable ambient lighting. Fox will for sure release stand-alone versions of these shocks later, so when my stockers wear out I'll just look at getting them instead.
450 hp Raptor sounds good
eustacio marquez but slap on a turbo back exhaust, intake and a tune can easily make 100+ hp
@@AnthonySvt_ SWEET-TXS
Did Roman say the shocks do a good job of controlling “pitch and yawn”? 😂
More Like Pick And Roll!
I agree with Roman on the Hwy i want soft Lincoln ride.
How come that model has no sunroof? Are there options available for the Raptor?
I want a raptor so bad and I don’t even off road lol
I have a 2011 and its a fantastic daily driver.
Same But Its Ranger Raptor Im Only With My Family To Buy That Truck Here In Manila Philippines This Year 2020!!
Love the truck, but I totally agree with Roman, it's needs a "Continental" button for highway ride.
The new Raptor 2019 the pavement princess! We agree ! Only Ford dare to jump their Demos but only 1 % of new owner jump the side curves at Walmart
You have the greatest job in the world.
3:02 Quality ford engineering right there. There's no way anything could possibly happen to that wire or wire harness when off roading
You mean like mud or ice? ;-)
@@donleamon8653 yeah, as expensive as the truck is, they couldn't be bothered to put some kind of splash guard over it or set it up so it's not totally exposed. I could just reach in there and unplug it
What's weird, there aren't any splash guards or special routing to brake lines and and wires either, on any truck I know of.
Solenoids go bad and stick..not sure how long it would be trouble free. Just saying.
sounds like the voice of experience!!!
I'd be all in if we can get some higher tow ratings on that thing!
so what's the thing in the bed of the truck that looks like a bed length cooler? weight distribution to improve the ride mayber?
i agree sometimes you want a boat ride after dirtbiking or snowboarding shit sometimes after watching your kids you just want to sit back and float home.
So the big question is... how long these shocks are good for and at what cost replacement?
Call me ol fashioned, but the 1st gen 6.2 is looking more and more like the Raptor to buy with every 2nd gen Raptor update.
I like the Raptor, however....I'd still buy a new Colorado ZR2. I test drove a used Raptor a few months back, and for the people who have never driven one, it's massive! It honestly wouldn't fit down any of my local trails. (East Tennessee) Not to mention..the price! 🤔
Pro 4X Get a new Colorado then man! Both are great trucks. Only Raptor is true race ready engineered machine tho. U Get what u pay for! Keep it American!
I agree I have a 2017 ZR2 and I live in North West Florida and no Raptor can follow me where I go it’s definitely a West Coast truck.
It’s a Baja truck, meant for open desert racing.
I would say if Toyota gave the Taco a better power train it would be a good option. TRD Pro shocks got upgraded to Fox Racing shocks.
The trailboss and rebel are built better overall!
osamabindrinkin40s the trailboss and rebel are literally regular half tons with offroad tires, the raptor is a race ready truck that can hit jumps 🤦♂️
Ok TFL good initial review. Now remember it when you put GM, Ram, and any other models up against it. Yes, the interior hasn’t had significant changes since it initially came out. Now let’s move on. This truck is about the guy with the bucks who wants to occasional run it hard off road - or on. It’s about the truck that has been built to do one thing extremely well and a couple others very good.
When you compare the other brands you know this bests them all hands down. Price point- ya could be a few bucks on the high end, but so is anything you are going to put up against it. Fuel mileage- again there might be a few who best it by a mile or two but this wasn’t built for mileage- It’s built to blast the fireroads and deeper terrain and will do an admirable job on the road as well. It’s built to go fast- not just to get you there. Even with all that it has comfort creatures that we wouldn’t have seen in top of the line models as few as 10 years ago.
Make your reviews apples to apples. Best motors, 8-10 speed transmissions, best suspension packages, equivalent rear end gearing. Any legitimate test will show that this truck will take the cake!
I always wanted a Raptor.2020 though
Boy, 4 wheeling sure has changed since the 70’s Thur the 90’s.
So guys basically what you have on the Polaris Turbo S Dynamix shock package fox has brought it to the automotive industry and Ford capitalized and put it into the Raptor. The system does basically just what it does on your Polaris Turbo S 4 seater and does it very well.
Correct. This tech was first pioneered on mountain bikes, tho it premiered on the Dynamix first, then MTBs, and now the Raptor. I'm sure standalone aftermarket options will be coming eventually.
Nothing can touch this
Just an FYI: Beechmont Ford in Cincinnati ohio sells Raptors for $2,000 under STICKER.
What a good car salesmen, going that extra mile.
this is a very exciting video . what do they do with all of these test vehicles?
i want plush mode. comfort mode. Lincoln mode !!!! i drive a dodge dually so the raptor as a second daily driver with comfort mode really is appealing to me.
I have a Chevy dually and use a 2011 Raptor as a daily driver. Super nice ride.
The Ford Raptor is absolutely the best at what it does. However, the ZR2 puts up a hell of a fight and is smaller for real off-roading while costing about 30k less.
Overall, the Raptor is the best, but the ZR2 is the best bang for your buck.
I love what you guys do and even bought you book too! God I wish I could afford both a Raptor and a Land Cruiser then I’d be in off road heaven. Can you guys review the cameras you use and how you mount them without given out too many secrets? I noticed you have the Sony FX3000 mounted I The dash and maybe multiple GoPros?
🎯
I think all the action cams they use are Sony's
Do you think that with the seats being made the way they are on the new Raptor, do you think they are tuned to smaller younger people? Now i'm 48 years old 6'3" 300+ and i notice a lot of vehicles seem to be more for smaller people although tall people fit pretty descent but, more meaty people fit a lot tighter and some of us do have issues with the seating. I appreciate the work yall do and put into making all of this come together.
Roman you need to start
The Luxury Lane channel. Cadillac, Lincoln and high end Euro cars.
Really want those shocks for my 17. Hitting the track with a few 19s week after next, will be interesting to compare handling
I'm not sure about the live shocks to be honest. Their interesting but would like to see how they hold up over time. Anyhow, the new Raptors are cool but I'm still content with my old Raptor.
Roman and Andre, I love the channel and the reviews! Can you provide
More insight on the ride quality on the 2019 Ford Raptor and the new Fox Live shocks?! I have read 5 various reviews on forums and watched a few on TH-cam that state the ride isn’t as soft/cushioned as the 2017/2018.. How significant is the stiffness/lack of cushioned ride? I am very close to pulling the trigger on a 2019 Performance Blue Raptor, but would like real info from actual reviewers. Thanks!!
If you need comfort mode go get the king ranch or limited trim
Needs push button like the previous year
Mike Perez it does
How bout an Ike review? I’d love to see how it does with 10,000 # behind it.
Yeah, I know that’s overloaded but I’ll bet it does it without breaking a sweat.
that wire seems to be asking to be torn off
I did go on the Ford web site and build a nice 2019 Crew Cab Raptor for $58,915.00. They start at $55k
You can spot the 19 right away because of the shark fin antenna.
Raptor Pricing is going to sell a lot of ZR2's.
there is no reason why they couldn't add a soft comfort mode accessible at the push of a button. it wont be long until an aftermarket company makes a programer that allows you to change the programming of the shocks on the fly anyway.
Would love it if it had a 6 feet bed instead of the small 5 for the crew.
Never seen a Raptor offroad in AZ in my life, and I go out every weekend. These are expensive mall crawlers for 40-50 year old guys going through a mid-life crisis.
Koddo I live in AZ. Let’s go!!!!
There is always a jealous comment like this after every Raptor video.
shocks are expensive. How long are they rated to last? Most about 50k. Can u put the older fox shock on insteaThed with all of the sensors that are on there talking to the truck? Will that shock work on ur older rapper or will it not because of the sensors and computer?
it is the same shock as previous year models, except with the adjustable valve unit on top. If this part fails, it will act like the previous shocks, albeit softer or more firm depending on failure location.
Great truck
I agree with Roman, comfort mode would be nice!
So many Raptors out there ☺
sadly, many of the will never leave payment 😞
"Trail Control" that works like "off road cruise control"? Hmmm wonder where they got that idea from.
Same technology in a Polaris rzr dynamic. But what’s interesting is that these shocks add the same $2200 to the rzr as it does to the raptor.
Question, how are the rear axles retained? It’s not a full floater correct?
I’m surprised they didn’t mention the 2019 also has a power parking brake now!
What are your plans with the old raptor?
My dream truck
Ford is the best. They are Paying attention to what American Men Want.
I can't abide that V6. I want my truck to rumble.
Andres reaction about life in the end of the clip lol
It is now 2023! This means I can afford a used 2019 Raptor!
Sounds like Roman needs the F150 Platinum with the Raptor engine
F150 has all the goodies it seems.
Roman is right in that the new truck rides firmer.
I'd say too many vehicles go too far into creating a firm sporty ride when, instead, people want a comfortable ride.
Roman said it best for us ole guys, gotta have more comfort. My friends who own them, love them but say it's just too danged big! I'm personnally looking for something JKU sized that is off road capable but C O M F O R T A B L E ! maybe Bronco will be a different better answer.
I get you Roman!
I hated that floating feeling with the old suspension
Hhhmm my resistance to avoiding buying one is gradually waning...
I'm not hating on the raptor but you can't really say it's the king of full size offroad pickups because its technically the only truck in its class that is truly offroad. the more proper term (if you ask me) would be badass or something. I'm not counting the rebel because (although its also badass) it can't do some of the things the raptor can. And we all know damn well Chevy isn't making a Silverado zr2 anytime soon.
Or the shocks on your old Raptor were worn out, how about that theory Roman? How many miles did it have when sold?
Time to upgrade my 17
I would like to see a test of a short cab raptor with front axle shafts/Tcase deleted and then go jump it/0-60 tests it will be 1000 lbs lighter than the crew w FWD. Too bad Ford doesnt offer it sans FWD to knock 300lbs off the nose and 2000 off msrp....it would be a $49k truck then before haggling....and people ARE buying them below sticker now. 90% of peeps that run in dez dont use FWD anyway they want nose light as it can be. 90% of real hardcore preunners here in CA w glassed widebodies and LT suspension are RWD only.
Test the Shelby Baja raptor please!!!
