I played this religiously when it came out, the motion sit on version was awesome and really helped to immerse you into the Space Harrier World of course it was helped with this incredibly cool music which still sounds as good today as it did during my teen years! Brilliant Stuff!
and it was all chip driven. samples for some individual instruments but from then on in, it was all on a tracker. Not like today's stuff where it's just a digital recording of the whole track. Real talent to do this. Check the Konami Gradius Gofer soundtrack... two 68Ks for the game and a dedicated Z80 beating a pair of Yamaha sound chips to within an inch of their lives. Amazing time to be in your childhood, the 80s.
They scarred the shit out of me as a kid... unil my cousin forced me to sit there with him and play... Afterburner then became my all time fave arcade game. :)

Sega, Atari, Namco and Capcom were the ones I saw and heard the most. Can we have some timing information and track names if possible, please?
PC debuted FM Synth with the AdLib Soundblasters with the Yamaha YM3812 and YM3526. Later, Atari debuted the Yamaha Soundchips in 1984 (YM2151); in 1985, Taito, Jaleco, SEGA, Capcom, and Data East Corporation, and later Namco-Bandai in 1986 made the same thing.
Man game's AND there music were the BIZ!!! in this age of gaming and each time i hear tune's or see a clip of an old video game...i have to go rooting through my boxes an dig out my console's and game's or my super gun an my jamma arcade mother board's and start playing lol 🎮🎉😁.
Absolutely love this musical score. Yuzo Koshiro contributed to the soundtrack on this one if I am not mistaken? Same guy who composed the Streets of Rage series
