Mechanicus had such a great soundtrack, literally put the game on edge as you slowly lost members to the Necrons unrelenting purge. Ixion is proving no different! I'm still in Sol and god damn, the gameplay and soundtrack are freaking amazing.
Guillaume David is a master of electronic music and complex textured soundscapes with memorable melodies that perfectly fit the theme and setting of the game they're made for. The man just UNDERSTANDS atmosphere!
Most sci-fi soundtracks that accompany the stories that touch the same subjects as IXION go with the overly dramatic, the solemn, the grandiose. That can be fine, but when everyone's doing it, it starts feeling like well-trodden ground. The safe route, if you will. We've heard it with Hans Zimmer, Max Richter, Ramin Djawadi, James Horner, Michael Giacchino, and a looong list of others that use the same ol' reliable tools to accompany sci-fi tales. However, Guillaume David, with IXION's soundtrack, feels like he's singing the praises of a facet of humanity that not often receives aural attention: its industriousness and resilience. More often than not, when those themes arise in media, they are accompanied by the epic sounds typical of a grand goal, or the dramatic undertones typical of a tragedy that tests our resolve. IXION's soundtrack, instead (and of course, appropriately given the type of game it is), appropriately musicalizes the immense industriousness, resilience, ingenuity, and sacrifice that is involved in the day to day life of a space station. How what everything with take for granted and oftentimes boring becomes heroic when set in outer space. It's a wonderful soundtrack because it underlines the bravery of the mundane, and the determination of pushing through routine. It warms up what would normally be very distant and rote proceedings by infusing it with humanity's hopes and dreams. It's a wonderful mixture between electronic and organic, massive synths supporting ethereal choirs and ethnic drums. Humanity surviving so far from Earth through sheer willpower. Guillaume David did it again. We all know how Mechanicus is great, it's been discussed at length. But IXION proves that David has a knack to strike the chord (haha) that perfectly encapsulates the media that has the privilege to have one of his soundtracks accompanying it. It's refreshing, it's moving, it's absolutely magnificent.
Amidst the prevailing expanse of sci-fi soundtracks steeped in the dramatic and grandiose, Guillaume David's musical opus in IXION stands as a beacon of innovation, embracing humanity's industriousness and resilience with captivating artistry. Departing from the well-trodden path, IXION's composition deftly captures the extraordinary within the ordinary, breathing life into the day-to-day struggles and triumphs of a space station. In a symphonic celebration, the soundtrack elevates the seemingly mundane to heroic heights, infusing routine proceedings with humanity's hopes and dreams. The exquisite blend of electronic and organic elements, ethereal choirs, and ethnic drums creates an evocative tapestry, immersing listeners in the journey of human survival far from Earth's embrace. Guillaume David's mastery is unmistakable, as IXION stands as a testament to his uncanny ability to strike the perfect chord that resonates with media privileged to bear his musical legacy. Refreshing, moving, and absolutely magnificent, IXION enlivens the spirit, evoking a profound connection with the essence of our humanity.
"its industriousness and resilience." Thank you. I have always heard this deep melancholy yet furious optimism in this piece. It echoes the game's story and tone perfectly. But it also echoes how I genuinely feel about mankind: we really do know how to make a terrible mess, but we also know how to overcome strife, too.

I sent a friend a clip of the first Vhole jump. His first reply was "Is that music actually part of the game? That just went real hard." The way Guillaume can make the deep bass sounds talk and actively take part in the songs is mindblowing. Most people treat bass as a monotone drone that holds up the rest of the song, but instead here it is actively joining the melodies.

Across The Void is just unquestionably great. A friend of mine described it as "We're running out of time", and it felt so true. Humanity is running out of time. Tiqqun is running out of time. My god, what a game
It's haunting. There's this massive tension between intrepid optimism and dire pessimism coded into that motif we get in the first minute. The rest of the piece just expands on that. Which makes sense since the core theme to the game is "We're gonna save humanity, but we're probably going to die trying."
So many superb sounds! If I ever find myself in space looking down on Earth (what, it could happen) this is what I'd like to listen to while reading my books.

Yeah. I hadn't listened to it before playing the game, and the game starts with this track. The vibe when the percussion drops, brought the biggest smile to my face.
I couldn't put my finger on it, but it reminded me of something from years ago. Then I found the song. Dolce Triade - Workin' on the clouds. I know it's not even remotely the same genre, but that's the song it brought to my mind.
This being created by the same brilliant fellow that made Mechanicus' soundtrack, this reminds me of a beacon of light in that dark universe, as if the Mechanicus had even the slightest hope of rising beyond their obsessive metallic shackles. It's a good feeling.
A absolute masterpiece. I love the added touch that the station's solar panels grow every song, which makes it feel like we are watching the Tiqqun traverse places
"No Turning Back" is the one for me.. When I'm multitasking and trying to build a new line of production with new tech and getting lost and confused, this one clears my head. I know what I'm doing again.
I see on the French streams, there are a lot of people who say that the music is a masterclass when they arrive on the stream for the first time, they even think that it is a streamer's playlist
Man this game is something else. No game has made me feel the way this one did in a very long time. The combination elements of Startopia, Homeworld, Factorio, and Stellaris.... is just mindblowing. That and the soundtrack hits like no other.
If that music/game does not inspire Humanity to abandon it's useless squabbling and greed for resources/power, and start to dream of/build space exploration, then I don't know what will.
look I know next to nothing on how music is made and stuff, but I never could escape the feeling that many...mixes like, cyberpunk, ambient, space exploration and such sort of meander around, a mute fluff that solely exists to occupy the ossicular bones of a person. Its forgettable, meaningless almost. But this This feels different, by itself it almost has a story to tell. The bold usage of many different instruments gives each and every single track the power many of the aforementioned stuff I heard could only dream of. Man I wish the music TH-cam shoved in my face all had such power behind them.
just one thing i have to say, Fuck is this good. The Artist know what he is doing. Telling a journey trough sound. Magnificent. Thanks alot for this emotional Beauty thanks alot!
icepunk. essentially same idea as this game, apocalyptic, but on earth. the center of the city is this giga furnace and the sectors is the distance out it can heat up. also has expedition events and a major threat near the end (a super blizzard storm front) that there are like.. only two ways to succeed. one is amorally, the other morally. again similar to this game. But the music is just as epic and invokes images of frozen tundra, working as best on can around this giant furnace, and doing what ever one can to succeed. EDIT: I meant FrostPunk
I've been waiting eagerly for the soundtrack since the demo, gonna listen this masterpiece round the clock. Thanks Guillaume David for such awesome work. You really did bring joy to my day !

Words can't express just how much I love this OST - it is perfect for space and this game I wish the game had a loop music setting to just keep playing tracks
The ticking incorporated at 7:46 really helps convey the great length of time passed since you last visited the Sol system (despite being there moments ago with the Tiqqun), really adds desperation and dread to the whole situation when you realize you might be all that's left of humanity
Not only that, the soundtrack will also convey a sense of urgency and that this here and now is THE defining time of humanity. Im sure the ticking is inspired from interstellar and i honestly think it fits perfectly :) Its a bit subtle so you don't really notice it when you play unless you stop to actually listen, but even if you might not consciously notice it, the feeling it conveys is still there :)
Guillaume David is a genius You can fell every emotion of being stranded in space on a braking ship whilst being the last hope of humanity Such a beautiful OST Very well done!
I like how in "No turning" back that you can feel it. But you also feel hope for a better tomorrow. There is absolutely no sadness in it, just a recollection of the situation and how to continue onwards.
This game is epic. Such beautiful music, visuals, and storyline. You can almost feel the struggle of the people you are carrying to mankind's last hope.

@@theblobconsumes4859 Youpsi, indeed !
Well this is about half the reason I was excited for Ixion - and it's great - so I can only hope that other 50% isn't disappointing.
Across The Void is just unquestionably great. A friend of mine described it as "We're running out of time", and it felt so true.
Humanity is running out of time. Tiqqun is running out of time. My god, what a game
This game and its soundtrack is critically underrated
Thanks so much!
Probably the best space/sci fi themed ost since Endless Space.
A speech of Earth is one of the best songs I have ever heard. Absolutely spectacular.
SPIN THE DRUM!
Indeed. Ranks up there with Vanir's legacy.
Never been so glad to find out about a game so late. I don't think I'd be able to survive the suspense for a whole year.
A master of legato glides and sub mixing!
Nice to see another master of atmospheric and rich music here!
@@BinExis That is most kind! TY
Cryo chamber? Wut u doin here? Nice to see you tho
24:42 has somehow the most corporate feel i have heard of any song ever
I give you VOHL DRIVE!! I'll give you THE STARS!
@@mingiasi I ment more the part "We went further than any nation, moved faster than any corporation"
Wonderful music. Even without playing the game, I can feel and hear the space.
It really is Sci-Fi as F**k, isn't it? It's probably even on the same level of genius as the Interstellar sountrack!
The first music gives me goosebumps! It's awesome!
It's haunting. There's this massive tension between intrepid optimism and dire pessimism coded into that motif we get in the first minute. The rest of the piece just expands on that. Which makes sense since the core theme to the game is "We're gonna save humanity, but we're probably going to die trying."
саундтреки просто отвал башки🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶. а ж муражки по спине
Игра обалденная, играю уже который день, с увлечением! А саундтреки заставляют прочувствовать моменты из игры.
I clicked on this video by mistake, and thankfully i decided to listen to it, nice music.
So many superb sounds! If I ever find myself in space looking down on Earth (what, it could happen) this is what I'd like to listen to while reading my books.
Mechanicus OST is about ancient power awakening.
IXION OST is about the possibility of life itself!
I love how optimistic this music is!
Not only does Guillaume David always drop bangers, Kasedo Games makes the best games to go with it. Mechanicus and Ixion with the music on will have me in a trance. Excited to see what more you guys do together.
Kasedo had just published, the game was developed by Bulwark Studios [just in case to mention them]
@@landwar7497 We had just popped over here to say that! We publish and Bulwark Studios are our wonderful developers!✨
@@landwar7497 I appreciate you mentioning that! Everyone involved deserves credit.
I've written it already on the trailer, but i'll write it again: "EMW Charon" at 4:30 is one of the best electronic tracks i've heard in my life; the high/low counterpoints and the chorus are amazing. Thank you for all the great music!
Across The Void is now my Favourity Song ever
Goosebumps. If somehow "blindsight" movie is ever created, I hope Guillaume David is the main composer.
oooh dude that is such a good idea! I love it!
Damn, that would be a great fit
Literally within the first 30 seconds and hearing that flute playing, knew this shit was gonna be 🔥
This being created by the same brilliant fellow that made Mechanicus' soundtrack, this reminds me of a beacon of light in that dark universe, as if the Mechanicus had even the slightest hope of rising beyond their obsessive metallic shackles. It's a good feeling.
Don't tell him what powers said beacon.
Gonna make this my in-game music for Rimworld.
A absolute masterpiece. I love the added touch that the station's solar panels grow every song, which makes it feel like we are watching the Tiqqun traverse places
The first time that I bought the Game+Soundtrack package from Steam. Well DONE 🙌👏👏
"No Turning Back" is the one for me.. When I'm multitasking and trying to build a new line of production with new tech and getting lost and confused, this one clears my head. I know what I'm doing again.
Sounds like a "Mechanicus OST" and "Boards of Canada" crossover. I like it.
Also reminds me a bit of LORN
I need an extended director's cut bass boosted VIP version of A Speech On Earth, SO SO GOOD
8:23 amazing
I see on the French streams, there are a lot of people who say that the music is a masterclass when they arrive on the stream for the first time, they even think that it is a streamer's playlist
Guillaume David! So the master returns! Mechanicus soundtrack was out of this world!
what a soundtrack the feeling it gives, you are really the last hope of mankind
Man this game is something else.
No game has made me feel the way this one did in a very long time. The combination elements of Startopia, Homeworld, Factorio, and Stellaris.... is just mindblowing. That and the soundtrack hits like no other.
If that music/game does not inspire Humanity to abandon it's useless squabbling and greed for resources/power, and start to dream of/build space exploration, then I don't know what will.
You know how did it ended in the game, right :) ?
@@serhii_the_dev yeah, but a man can dream... :D
i have been playing video games for almost 30 years now and this is by far the best soundtrack i have ever heard
First the Mechanicus soundtrack and now this?! Amazing work Guillaume, thank you. (:
I absolutely need Guillaume David and Kevin Penkin (Made in Abyss) to do a collaboration. Their ethereal styles would mesh together beautifully.
Haven't played the game, but damn, this soundtrack is something else
I am getting There came an echo vibes from this soundtrack. It fits perfectly.
look I know next to nothing on how music is made and stuff, but I never could escape the feeling that many...mixes like, cyberpunk, ambient, space exploration and such sort of meander around, a mute fluff that solely exists to occupy the ossicular bones of a person. Its forgettable, meaningless almost.
But this
This feels different, by itself it almost has a story to tell. The bold usage of many different instruments gives each and every single track the power many of the aforementioned stuff I heard could only dream of. Man I wish the music TH-cam shoved in my face all had such power behind them.
The soundtrack (in the previews) helped me getting hocked on synthesizers and surely is a reason I kept coming back to Ixion.
David literally puts his soul into his works, imbued with the atmosphere of the universe and the situation. That is why his music is so mesmerizing.
just one thing i have to say, Fuck is this good. The Artist know what he is doing. Telling a journey trough sound. Magnificent. Thanks alot for this emotional Beauty thanks alot!
great work, I don’t remember when the intrigue of the plot and music in a city-building simulator gave so many impressions
icepunk. essentially same idea as this game, apocalyptic, but on earth. the center of the city is this giga furnace and the sectors is the distance out it can heat up. also has expedition events and a major threat near the end (a super blizzard storm front) that there are like.. only two ways to succeed. one is amorally, the other morally. again similar to this game.
But the music is just as epic and invokes images of frozen tundra, working as best on can around this giant furnace, and doing what ever one can to succeed.
EDIT: I meant FrostPunk
A collaboration between Guillaume David and Melodysheep is needed in this world. Excellent music once more.
That combo would break people!
I've been waiting eagerly for the soundtrack since the demo, gonna listen this masterpiece round the clock. Thanks Guillaume David for such awesome work. You really did bring joy to my day !
"Across the void" is the best ost game. I listen to this ost in the dark winter time and look at the stars in the sky. Thank you so much for such wonderful music.
The opening theme reminds me of Lorn a lot. Good soundtrack 👍
Words can't express just how much I love this OST - it is perfect for space and this game
I wish the game had a loop music setting to just keep playing tracks
Мне хочется поставить этому саундтреку миллион лайков, это просто шедевр

Guillaume David is a genius
You can fell every emotion of being stranded in space on a braking ship whilst being the last hope of humanity
Such a beautiful OST
Very well done!
I like how in "No turning" back that you can feel it. But you also feel hope for a better tomorrow. There is absolutely no sadness in it, just a recollection of the situation and how to continue onwards.
one of the best gaming soundtracks in gaming history... change my mind i dare you
This soundtrack... is bumping!
God the first thing I did when I put the game on was listen to its intro and fall in love.
man this goes so hard its unreasonable holy shit. I was ignoring it in my recommended until I realised who made it. Then I had to listen to it!
This game is epic. Such beautiful music, visuals, and storyline. You can almost feel the struggle of the people you are carrying to mankind's last hope.
People on steam reviews keep getting roasted by difficulty. It's a shame game have a mixed reviews because of them. People need to learn planing and handle problems.
@@Strunoder24 Just build 2 smelters as soon as possible and most problems go away.
I'll just say it. Fall in love to this OST.
And buy game with OST. So beautiful.
I never bought a game because of the soundtrack. Until now. Hot Damn! Apart from Guillaume, people today just don't have the balls to lean into fantastic musical influences like Vangellis, Hans Zimmer, Tangerine Dream and many others. Game is solid, but sound design and score while playing is OFF THE CHARTS AMAZING!! (If only the devs would address linux performance issues.)
This music just gives an amazing feeling of ... scale
Not only the background planets and space, the Tiqqun itself has been upgraded.
