TBF, I am always titled #1 by family, friends and others who love and/or admire me. New people included. So that doesn't _inherently_ apply to ALL, though it does to most; I understand I am the exception, not the rule.
*_I_** do not prefer to video chat. My family, friends, loved ones, new people alike don't love **_that_** about me.* So, that too doesn't inherently apply to ALL.

Ladies, if you are supporting yourself financially and you meet a man who asks for money; shut him down, lose his number and block his calls and texts. There is NEVER an acceptable reason why a man should be asking a woman for money.

Once you send any amount of money you have been tagged as a victim and they will drain you for all you have.

I'm beginning to think it makes no difference if these "victims" know all the signs of a scammer. There's been a few on Dr Phil who had watched previous Dr Phil episodes about romance scams but insisted they were the exception and their "boyfriend" was real. It might boil down to sheer vanity and ego and complete lack of critical thinking skills.

Isn’t it a little ridiculous? It’s an older person and someone very young “who’s interested “. Fake pics of smoking hot people interested 65-90 year olds. Isn’t that red flag enough? Someone young enough to be their grandchild. It just screams desperation.

In the last 1.5 years, I have started receiving many Facebook friend requests from handsome, middle-aged men. It's so obvious to me that every request is a scam. I was curious to see what a couple of their profiles looked like. What they all have in common is that their accounts are quite new, they have no Facebook 'friends', they have a handful of post that are made to appeal to women (cute sayings, pictures of flowers, pics of puppies and kittens), they are all engineers in a foreign country, working in a remote area with poor internet connection. As much as I would love to respond and try to waste their time, I just ignore their friend requests. I feel very bad for this woman. She seems to be rather naive. Every single text and photo was a glaring red flag right from the start. She should have blocked this guy long before the money requests started.

Yes, agreed. My mother drilled it into my head since I was a teenager to never rely on a man or anyone. To take care of myself and make my own way in life. Best advice I ever got. The woman’s statement about her husband, not preparing her for life is embarrassing, and an insult to her.
