An outstanding review. Especially the comparisons to other knives I own. Just ordered the Blackout DLC version.....along with a Luna, Hug and Banter. Thank you for your quite profound observations and your presentation is very calm and relaxing....very ASMR to my ears :) Very best wishes, Paul.
Hello. I really like it. I have never seen a deeper clip. Perfect to my eyes. . I have been looking forward to seeing a review and you are the first for me. I saw on instagram that the V1 is sold out which is great news for Hoo knives. Congrats to them and thanks to you for showing it.
Making knives to compete it the modern market of knives is a hard task to attempt. The competition is intense between makers. It is nice you are helping out .
Interesting and attractive knife. At first glance, the handle shape bears more than a passing resemblance to the Real Steel Luna (no bad thing!), the titanium version of which costs £87 at HH (but N690 blade steel). I'm also intrigued about how a depiction of a 1500-year-old artefact gets to be registered as a trademark - presumably King Raedwald of East Anglia wasn't around to ask? Bet he'd have been blown away by the M390 though, if a little underwhelmed by the size...knife laws were somewhat more liberal in those times!
Great first look, completely agree with everything, didn't consider the mark being left when swapping the clip, that is a shame although I, like you, prefer the inconspicuous clip to the sturdy one. Thank you for the mention as well!
What a fantastic project from Carl! I have a big mark on my scale too but when I stripped it down I noticed the clip screw was slightly loose. After tightening, there is much less movement in the clip. Yours looks a little loose to me.
I worry that the wider public/non-enthusiast may not appreciate the simplicity of it's lines for £100. An insert, carbon fibre for example, where the clip is rubbing might kill two birds with one stone on the next batch. Congratulations to Carl on bringing a quality knife at a sane price to these shores. BRAVO!
I think the V1 is fantastic value at that price, the blade shape is an excellent general purpose tip and the clip looks pretty good. I definitely prefer a sharpening choil and the handle shape is not immediately appealing but for a first production I would say it is amazing and I would buy it. I don't generally like detent slip joints either but the closing resistance looks to be better than most.
If has some almost unique features that make the generic, bland, titanium folder available to U.K. knife carriers and users, legally, for the first time. That’s kind of a big thing here. If his first venture had been more idiosyncratic, he might have fallen flat on his face and suffered a significant loss, ending his venture in quick time.

Glad you enjoyed it.

8 hours on and I’m less in love with that clip than ever! It’s a bit thin and weedy.

I’m happy to help promote a great product. I’d not do it if I wasn’t happy he’d done a great job.

Thanks for your initial thoughts on this one. I really like the designer's hoard-helmet logo! Have a great weekend, buddy.
Of course, I never asked him if that’s where it came from!

The boy done good! I’m less and less impressed with the clip though! I might take mine off, we’ll see.
I just really do wish it were made in this country. I'd be getting my card out to order one right now.
Unfortunately, it might then be twice the price.

I’ve swapped mine over and checked it was tight, but it still flexes, and it’s left a mark on the new show side😢

I’ll pass that on.

Detente aren’t my favourites, but this one is better than most. I like it , but it’s probably not going to be my favourite knife… we’ll see!
Not my thing, generic bland titanium folder. Do like the hoo decal though...

Glad to know his venture has been successful, just can't get excited about it. I wish c.pearson success for future ventures.
