In this SPEEDRUN EXPLAINED, we break down an Any% speedrun of the original BioShock 2 (sorry, not the remastered version). I've played bioshock infinite and it feels like it's a tightly patched game, they made the game look and feel like movie (similar to uncharted, last of us) but with a lot of action which must be completed at all cost in order to progress further, as a result there's a lot of unskippable cutscenes. Trying to speedrun this game would drive people nuts.

Hey, t.a. - I really appreciate that you explain the run, but also summarize the plot developments as they occur (or are skipped). That's one thing that's usually missing in speedruns. I understand why it's often left out - the story obviously isn't the point when you're speedrunning, but I realized it's something I really like about your presentation.

One thing I really appreciate about Tomato, he always takes a moment in less than flashy moments of runs to talk about mental health.
Unpopular opinion: I wish he didn't. Mainly cause while I see where he's coming from with it, for me personally it's just crossing a boundary I really, really don't want crossed by a stranger which he effectively is. If only he at least opted to upload a version WITHOUT that stuff in there as this way, for my own safety his videos are unwatchable.

I occasionally love re-watching speed runs of Bioshock 1 and 2 just to see how much each run has changed. I stumbled across your video and, wow! I absolutely love these explanation videos! Both runs have DEFINITELY changed since the last time I watched a run (seriously, body surfing?! I laughed out loud at how genius it was). I also appreciate your little introspective moment, I am not necessarily feeling my best at the moment (I caught a cold from my niece) but that brought a smile to my face.

The first time I watched this I as not enlightened in the ways of WP, coming back around, Maso should cover video game miniguns!
This and Ryan George are one of the few channels where I enjoy the ads.
Crashing less often on medium detail makes sense when just in comparison to high detail. But how the hell does it also crash less than if you were playing on low detail?
I'd think it would be that since low detail allows the game to run better, more so than it would normally, it would cause the crashes more. My bet is (and probably is the case) that it was primarily developed on console, and when porting it to PC it wasn't the best, especially for newer systems. Plus I think the original 2 games were on Windows instead of steam. So maybe that has something to do with it.

I want you to know that I love your videos so much that when your video popped up in my reccomends right as I was going to bed, I put it on as I laid down. I watched the whole thing and then went to sleep.
4 days later, I asked myself "oh, I wonder if Tomatoanus has uploaded anything lately?" and I was very confused as it took me a few minutes to remember that yes, I watched this video before since I was like dead tired when I watched it.
