Working on Mitsus for 18 years and only timing belts I ever use was either OEM or Gates. I run A LOT of Gates products and have no issues what so ever. I'm running a Gates timing belt right now on my race car, not one single issue far as fitment or any engines I rebuilt. So I beg to differ on your statement on Gates timing belts 😉
@@troyjango2492 the problem is not the parts, it's the people that put them on incorrectly. Mitsubishi is one of those cars if you don't do it right or know what your doing, you will have problems. I had someone put their own timing belt on a Eagle Talon and the belt was too tight and wiped out the oil pump, front case, timing belt and tensioner. Let's just say he had to pay twice for a bad mistake. I used Conti-tech, Dayco, Continental etc etc and either they snap or tear to shreds. Only one that never had a issue was OEM or Gates, Gates is very accessible to get so I've been using them and also their Kevlar Racing Belts as well with no issues. As long as it is installed correctly, you will be fine 😉👍🏻
I just wanted to tell you thank you for providing a video that we can actually see and understand. Insightful and informative and it was the answer we were looking for. My car is finally fixed again. Thanks again.
Thanks for the prospective. I changed the water pump on my sisters 02 2.4l eclipse and know now exactly what happened. No e the less, got it straightend out today thanks to your generosity and experience as a real mechanic. 2 thumbs up
Wow super video. I had a guy replace my belt. He found the balance belt broken while the TB was not. (I had service documentation from the last TB service saying they replaced both belts--guess someone was lying) He replaced both. when I got the car back it was "vibration city" See video under this same ID. Didn't know this about the balance shaft. apparently he did not know it either. He gave me a hard time saying he did not know where the vibes were coming from. He said if he took it apart and found nothing wrong he would charge me again! My wife said it did not sound like the guy knew what he was doing and why would I want to bring it back to him? Listened to my wife. Had someone else fix it... cost me labor all over again but no more vibration!
Awesome info! I have a 2.5l tbi, Ply. '94 Looks like I got lucky when I rebuilt it. Love my engine!! Has side by side balance shafts. Had never seen one. Lucky
I have used aftermarket parts on these Mitsubishis never had a problem. It's all about setting up the timing belt correctly you line up the Marks you're good to go. #cheapo
thanks homotorsports for your quick answear i am done replacing my timing belt and yes my balance shaft was 180 degrees off also no more shaking great video thanks
Good advice based on experience, but people should be aware that it is equally important to replace the oil seals first. Oil leaking on the cogs and new belt will cause a serious problem in a very short time.
I have a 1996 mitsubish galant 2.4 SOHC it has a low RPM vibration. I have always thought something was off with what you are explaining. It is a great little engine, with the exception of that dash rattling vibration. I am going to do the belts and check for this issue. Thanks so much #homotorsports for confirming my suspicion.
I know this video is old as the hills but thank you so much!! Really awesome information man, straight to the point no b.s. It's going to be very helpful when I'm working on my Talon TSi.
wow great info, thanks a lot just bought an 07 that is close to due to timing belt change, I had a 90 eclipse gs 2.0 DOHC and changed it 4 times with factory belt using mitsubishi shop manual.
Although you are some what correct I think your being a little to critical of Gates belts, I believe its a bigger issue with the mechanic and lack of knowledge than the actual part. Set the oil pump/balance shaft up correctly and get the tension correct to the point where the tensioner lock pin is free and you wont have a drama. I have used many and never had a problem , And on the older type mitsi,s like the 4G32 the oil pump/balance shaft is in reverse to the later type, You actually have to set it up with the gear mark wanting to fall away . But for the average person the removal of the 14mm bolt in the side of the block and the use of a screw driver or a clean shaft to determine that the shaft is in the correct position would be good advice, You should be able to insert a screw driver all the way in if its in the correct position, if it hits the shaft its wrong. Also it is why when you have fitted the belts and made your adjustments you should turn the engine over by hand at least 2 times more if you like 4 is good, then leave it 15 mins and then make sure the pin can be removed freely from the tensioner , if it can be then its correct. no matter what belt you use.
In all of the 4g63 timing videos, this is the more informative one for setting timing correctly on each pulley. Thank you. I will soon fix my timing and fix my car once and for all. Mechanics screwed my timing up and ignition timing is advanced to 8-16 degrees
I am thinking about tackling this belt change myself. This is one of the best informational videos I have seen. Great job and please put more out there like this.
great video great teacher I have no mechanic skills what so ever I feel I can work on my mitsubishi. I wish this was my dad I could learn a lot from him.
Thanks for the great info 👍 What's the best place online to purchase OEM Mitsubishi? Also what all do you recommend replacing when doing the timing belt? Thanks
just watched factory video first, great tip for balance shaft, but the question I have is why in the factory video it tell you to lock tensioner 1:00 and you say 5:30 tension counter clockwise. verified by 2 fsm's. also gap between plunger and tensioner is 3.8-4.5mm but you say pin movement in dampner. not criticism just a question. isn't that the purposes of the special tool to slack the hydrolic tensioner? don't want to set it up wrong and it seems like you have done it before lol
Hey there ...Great video. I bought a 1978 dodge colt 1.6 ltr mitsubishi import. She sat in a garage for 16 years before I found her ... body and interior are mint .The tie rods are shot and the timing belt surely needs replacing as she now sits at 170,000 km. Does this tip apply to a 3rd generation colt? Also, what other components as critical as the timing belt , should be checked and replaced ? Should I put a new water pump in while doing the belt ? Thanks .
Hi what is the black tin cover around the crankshaft gear called ? Mine doesn’t have one but looks like should be there. This a great video great tips thanks
Hey thanks for that. I never have tried timing myself. I figure if the shops have messed them up it must be crazy hard. I wish i could do more but im scared to mess things up. Anyways i have a squicky and squishy sound coming from crank area. Noises seem to change and get worse. I was thinking crank pulley. Baught an alluminum one but now hear your no aftermarket parts thingy. I hope it's ok to use. I will try and then see what you have to say then maybe replace again depending what you say. Not even sure if that is the problem or not. Some i see the balance shaft thing as well. Wish you lived close to me id love to be your neighbor and learn and have you do it correctly too. Thanks again man, Charlie.
Listen to the man, he knows what he is talking about.. It worked like a charm.. Thank you for resolving my Vibration problem on Mitsubishi Mighty Max 2.4L
what year is your truck pauliwalnuts2007? im doing my timing belt someone told just to line the marks do i have to worry about this silent shaft on my 1993 mmm 2.4 please help thanks
joker7from206 It`s your choice they both take the same amount of time..Maybe you will be lucky and the balance shaft will be lined up correctly when you line up the mark and you will think this video is BS....

My friend worked on my car and it runs like shit now i'm glad I found this video cause this has been a pain in my neck for the last year I just let the car sit really did'nt touch it.
Great tips. Thanx. If you go to Amazon and put in Mitsubishi md998767 you can find the auto tensioner tool the gentleman refers to. I paid 9.50 plus 6.96 shipping . Worked great
Good tips most of them; thumbs up! But tell me: what is GENUINE MITSU PARTS? Because now'a days Mitsu and other brands don't make their own parts; no car brand does. They buy from partdealers, and those contracts last for say 3 years, then the "brand buying department" ask for new contracts from many, many suppliers.
i know you gotta mark the cams and distr, and crank but im sorry if i sounded retarded this is my first headgasket job and its a 6 cylinder and to top it off ive always worked on toyotas and pontiacs
im checking timing on a dodge 2.4 coupe with mitsu engine the crank pulley has no marks all i can see is a pin at 3:00 and the crank key slot at 9:00 any other tip to be sure (besides installing the harmonic balancer and timing cover to check?
Thanks for the tip #homotorsports. Have you ever seen or had an oil leak develop after a timing belt change? I followed all instructions, motor runs great, but I now have a significant oil leak. I'll have to get it apart to see for sure where it's coming from but I'm 95% sure it from somewhere behind the lower belt cover.
I'm also trying to change components like the timing belt because im uncertain if the previous owner had any major services done for the truck. (although they kept it in good shape im not absolutely sure if they changed any original components.) i was always told don't fix what isn't broken, but im just trying to avoid the cost of neglecting to change something ahead of time. id hate to chance it for another 10, or 20k miles. (its low, 88k, but that doesn't mean its all in tip top shape. she runs nice, but i know she can use some tlc to get her sounding really great.) plus i like working on my truck/car on weekends, getting familiar with it for my own benefit. (i used to have a 94 850turbo and a 92 accord to tinker with) And also learning to work on 90s mitsubishis- I'm considering picking up a 90s montero since its all covered in the same chiltons and haynes repair manuals, and are pretty much alike. with all that crap^^^ being said, I'm thinkin of changing the timing belt. generally, kits online usually come with a new tensioner and that second smaller belt. im sticking to original mitsubishi parts on this one like you mentioned, but is there anything else i should change while im at it? water pump? any other components? things to look at and check while stuff is taken apart? any gaskets or seals or any specific lubes or applications? please let me know, any kinda knowledge on this helps. thanks again for posting the vid, really helpful. 🤘👍👍
Sean Patrick water pump has to be changed. I usually replace the seals on the cam, crank, oil pump, and balance shafts as well. Finally just because it requires removal of the timing belt to do, I throw in a new crankshaft sensor as well. Also these are wear parts. You change them before they fail otherwise you risk engine damage
here's one for ya, water pump problem has turned into much more. been doing my research. I'm worried I'm too late. found my balance shaft belt shredded after removing cover and timing marks, oil and cam shaft marks aren't matching up. I didn't pay much for her but I'm curious, should I just plan on a total rebuild now??
Thanks for sharing your experiences! I love 4g63's for the most part, but not their timing (and a few other pitfalls). By the way, if you haven't heard of them already, the TH-cam channels "Jafromobile" and "Tom's Turbo Garage" have some (in my opinion) great videos on cars/engines which might be of interest to somebody like you with 19 years of Mitsu tech experience. Jafro in particular really goes into technical detail on 4g63's. One question: when you said to never use aftermarket parts, did you mean just the timing parts, or the entire engine? I've seen a lot of good comments about certain types of aftermarket upgrades from people who tune 4g63's to dramatically increase the horsepower.
Thanks, just had to re-due the Oil Shaft Balance Yesterday, after just lining up the Timing makes as some other posts Said (they never mentioned the Balance check)
hey i have a 1990 2.0l dohc eagle talon and all my research points towards the auto tensioner PULLEY having the marks beginning to the left of the nut and tensioning the marks clockwise. This is after the auto tensioner cylinder reset and swing arm pretension and plunger stabilizing. now i trust your experience but the info i got was from a TSB from chrysler which would u go with ??
+homotorsports fantastic video, direct and to the point! Question, did you ever had to clean the timing area? I am about to do this to a 01 eclipse gs 4g64 and if it's dirty in that area, should I clean it? And if I do, should I use brake kleen? royal purple? Just straight compress air?
Question: I have a 1.8 single over head cam. Didn't have any problems with marks under cover, but where the heck is the mark on the harmonic balance? While the car seems to run fine, I can't verify base ignition timing as I don't have a mark on the balancer. I also have another balancer, but there's no mark on it either. Any advise is greatly appreciated! :)
I have a 600hp evo, you think I should stick with a oem timing belt and not a Kevlar after market performance timing belt? Can the oem manage this HP over time ?
Hi, these white mark, for alignment, was done by you previously to belt replacement, or it have it? In my case the belt was broken while driving..Thanks.
hi there..i believed my lancer's balance shaft is out of alignment together with the oil pump after seeing this video. someone did my timing belt job 3 yrs ago and after getting it back (until now) my engine got louder at high rpm and has very slight vibration when on idle. do u think the loud engine noise has to do with the oil pump or 2nd balance shaft not properly aligned? a respond will be greatly appreciated.
To clarify, is the issue with the gates belt/kit itself, or that people never install it correctly? Thanks for the tips though! I wasn't sure I'd have something to probe the balance shaft with but now that I know that trick it won't matter.
I have an 05 Eclipse 3.0. I don’t know if the timing belt has been replaced. I’m at 91K. Runs fine though. No vibration or rough running. Do you think it’s been replaced?
i bought myself a granny owned 92 2.4 mighty max. super basic model, no ac, no power steering, etc. its awesome, and only has 85k, well 89 now cause its my dd. anyways, it only had one owner, who I'm sure kept it mechanically sound while they had it; they kept it pretty clean all around. I've been tinkering with it, just kinda fixing n replacing what looks worn and ready to go. so far ive put a new radiator in (old one was cashed, and kept the cars temp gauge in the middle- now it runs nice and cool and sits inbetween the 2 lower lines on the cold end) and a new distributor cap and rotor. i picked up the parts(aftermarket) at an oreillys down the street. i heard you stress in the video to use original mitsubishi parts only. is a radiator, dist cap and/or rotor something that should strictly be original mitsubishi parts? or is that more applied to engine components like timing, water pump, etc (stuff pretty much directly on the engine) please let me know, thanks. this video was very informative 👍
great video. QUESTION: is this the same in the 2003 Mitsubishi lancer es 2.0 ?? in the middle of doing the belt now, it went when i was driving(does that matter??) also, should i buy the book for the specs on timing?? or can i find the info somewhere else?? any info would be greatly appreciated.thank you.
Going to do my first timing belt/tensioners/water pump since getting my 420a Eclipse. The chilton manual says to set the engine to TDC, then 1/2 BTDC. I'm just a bit confused on this. I know how to set it to top dead (checking compression on cyl 1 as well as the marking on the crankshaft), but am confused about setting 1/2 notch before dead center...(mainly because the chilton manual has you doing it after you've removed the old belt.. that doesn't seem right to me!)
I ha e owned a 2004 mitsubishi lancer i bought it 6 years ago and check engine came on never had problem with it before So i had to replace my crankshaft sensor and notice my oil pulley was out of specifications has not been correct since i bought the car should i fix it or leave it the cam and harmonic pulley are correct 😅
I notice the crank sensor blade is diffidently from my 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander.. Can i use that same blade. Because i Order 1 an the dealer sent me 1 just like yours.
Nice vid, Hey had a question you wouldn't happen to know the cylinder head bolt torque specs on a 09 2.4 4g eclipse? I cant find a maintenance manual anywhere.
on a 6G72 motor, would you happen to know of a method for removing the crankshaft so sprocket/gear. I'm disassembling my motor and I'm stuck at this gear/sprocket. I've removed the balancer/pulley, my manual says just pull it off. but it's wedged on about as tight as the balancer/pulley was so I'll kinda lost. beings I'll be needing it again hammering isn't an option even though I considered it long and hard I'd just like to remove and inspect it, but can't seem to find any information on how to exactly. any suggestions you may have I'm up to trying, I don't want my motor to be trashed over such a small piece but I can't be delayed indefinitely because of a small piece. thanks for to taking the time to read my post.
ES UNA PUBLICACION IMPORTANTE PARA TODOS QUE ESTAMOS RELACIONADOS CON LA MECANICA AUTOMOTRIZ Y AGRADEZCO A TODOS LOS HACEN POSIBLE DE VISUALIZAR LOS VIDEOS GRACIAS.
is that trick with oil pump, with or without oil because mine stays in place it doesnt seem to move very easily. I'm guessing because there is oil in my engine.
Fab a steel plate, drill 2 holes and insets some old scrap crank bolts into the pulley. Rest the bar on a trolley jack and crank it down to the correct NM
Hey homotorsports I'm having a problem I can't get my sonata 2.4L to start after changing the b-belt,timing belt, poles and poles tensioners and also the crank position sensor I have all my marks in place like u said but I didn't think I put the tensioner polye like u said the two holes to the bottom can that be the problem I change the timing belts because b-belt was broken
My 2001 galant 2.4 shuts off several seconds after starting it up. The RPMs go up like a normal start and then it shuts off. If I turn the key ever briefly to activate the starter the engine will continue to run for the same amount of time before shutting off. Any idea whats going on? Crank shaft sensor? Cam shaft sensor? IAC? :
just put it in gear preferbly reverse happened to mine but mines a v6 version itl get it going you might have to do it like twice or few times but itl work usualy after the first try itl stay idling
If this wasnt done right would it cause low oil pressure? Im sure ive set mine right but now have a noise comming from engine which is a low oil pressure noise. If not how would I fix this problem on one of these engines?
Please help man, I did a timing belt 2003 Galant ES 2.4L and it won’t start. Tries to turn over but won’t fire up. Everything seems in line. Crank shaft sensor got wet while taking the old water pump off, but other than that, everything looks good. Could wrong timing be a cause? Is there anything else that’s got multiple phases like the oil pump sprocket that has 3?
Help me understand.... if the balance shaft is connected to the shaft pulley surely gravity would pull it to the same place?? Is it geared to another shaft?
So I have a 4g64 2.4 single cam and wanna do a swap can I use the 64 trans on the Gst dohc or do I need it buy everything with the Gst ? Included trans wiring and long block?
Hey man, I recently purchased an 09 Outlander ES 4WD. The dealer didnt have any documentations on prior maintenance, and it has 115k on the clock. So I am 15k overdue for a timing belt replacement. I would like to wrench on my cars myself, how doable is the job in my drive way?

A good tip for the "unknowing"...Another tip is to not lay the tentioner on it's side when it's removed...Always stand it up to avoid failure...

Excellent video! in your opinion, what's the best timing belt/water pump kit to buy for a 2002 Mitsu Eclipse Spyder GS?
In the video he says NOT to use aftermarket parts, so the best kit would be from Mitsubishi,.
This video was very helpful
Thanks brother 🙏👍
Hi what is the black tin cover around the crankshaft gear called ? Mine doesn’t have one but looks like should be there. This a great video great tips thanks
GREAT INFORMATION from an established tech. Thanks
I wish they’d make more videos like this 👍🏼 there’s very little on this engine available. This video here has almost 1million views !

Best tip of all was ALWAYS USE GENUINE MITSUBISHI PARTS!
absolutely correct :-):-):-)
Mitsubishi mirage
does the balance shaft only go in one direction? or is it like the oil sprocket and have a couple different ways of going?
I'm about to do my belt again glad I found this.
Glad i could help...
SvddenDeth A 3000GT does not have balance shafts
do i have to mark the oil pump on mine if possible? or am i fine just marking the crankshaft
SvddenDeth The oil pump is driven by the crank shaft..theres mark on the cam gears and a mark on the crank gear
i know you gotta mark the cams and distr, and crank but im sorry if i sounded retarded this is my first headgasket job and its a 6 cylinder and to top it off ive always worked on toyotas and pontiacs
im checking timing on a dodge 2.4 coupe with mitsu engine the crank pulley has no marks all i can see is a pin at 3:00 and the crank key slot at 9:00 any other tip to be sure (besides installing the harmonic balancer and timing cover to check?
Thanks for the tip #homotorsports. Have you ever seen or had an oil leak develop after a timing belt change? I followed all instructions, motor runs great, but I now have a significant oil leak. I'll have to get it apart to see for sure where it's coming from but I'm 95% sure it from somewhere behind the lower belt cover.
I'm also trying to change components like the timing belt because im uncertain if the previous owner had any major services done for the truck. (although they kept it in good shape im not absolutely sure if they changed any original components.)
i was always told don't fix what isn't broken, but im just trying to avoid the cost of neglecting to change something ahead of time. id hate to chance it for another 10, or 20k miles. (its low, 88k, but that doesn't mean its all in tip top shape. she runs nice, but i know she can use some tlc to get her sounding really great.)
plus i like working on my truck/car on weekends, getting familiar with it for my own benefit. (i used to have a 94 850turbo and a 92 accord to tinker with)
And also learning to work on 90s mitsubishis- I'm considering picking up a 90s montero since its all covered in the same chiltons and haynes repair manuals, and are pretty much alike.
with all that crap^^^ being said, I'm thinkin of changing the timing belt.
generally, kits online usually come with a new tensioner and that second smaller belt. im sticking to original mitsubishi parts on this one like you mentioned, but is there anything else i should change while im at it? water pump? any other components? things to look at and check while stuff is taken apart? any gaskets or seals or any specific lubes or applications? please let me know, any kinda knowledge on this helps. thanks again for posting the vid, really helpful.
Anthony,
Once again your are DA MAN
Great info brother for the poor slobs that own these POS
Good stuff brother as usual !
hey i have a 1990 2.0l dohc eagle talon and all my research points towards the auto tensioner PULLEY having the marks beginning to the left of the nut and tensioning the marks clockwise. This is after the auto tensioner cylinder reset and swing arm pretension and plunger stabilizing. now i trust your experience but the info i got was from a TSB from chrysler which would u go with ??
Hi where is the speed control on3500 24valve
+homotorsports fantastic video, direct and to the point! Question, did you ever had to clean the timing area? I am about to do this to a 01 eclipse gs 4g64 and if it's dirty in that area, should I clean it? And if I do, should I use brake kleen? royal purple? Just straight compress air?
lone Wolf I use brake clean..don`t use compressed air the dust has pieces of cord material in it not the best to be breathing in
Is the camshaft sprocket timing mark a white mark or a circle on one of the spokes?
Circle
Question: I have a 1.8 single over head cam. Didn't have any problems with marks under cover, but where the heck is the mark on the harmonic balance? While the car seems to run fine, I can't verify base ignition timing as I don't have a mark on the balancer. I also have another balancer, but there's no mark on it either. Any advise is greatly appreciated! :)
I have a 600hp evo, you think I should stick with a oem timing belt and not a Kevlar after market performance timing belt? Can the oem manage this HP over time ?
Great video! I appreciate your knowledge.
Yes. Redo the timing.
I took the balance shafts out, 1 less belt to worry about breaking, and hardly any vibration once removed.
i bought myself a granny owned 92 2.4 mighty max. super basic model, no ac, no power steering, etc. its awesome, and only has 85k, well 89 now cause its my dd.
anyways, it only had one owner, who I'm sure kept it mechanically sound while they had it; they kept it pretty clean all around.
I've been tinkering with it, just kinda fixing n replacing what looks worn and ready to go. so far ive put a new radiator in (old one was cashed, and kept the cars temp gauge in the middle- now it runs nice and cool and sits inbetween the 2 lower lines on the cold end) and a new distributor cap and rotor. i picked up the parts(aftermarket) at an oreillys down the street.
i heard you stress in the video to use original mitsubishi parts only.
is a radiator, dist cap and/or rotor something that should strictly be original mitsubishi parts? or is that more applied to engine components like timing, water pump, etc (stuff pretty much directly on the engine)
please let me know, thanks.
this video was very informative 👍
great video.
How do I keep the crankshaft from spinning when I use the 1/2" impact wrench to remove the bolt on crankshaft?
Use an impact wrench bro
Going to do my first timing belt/tensioners/water pump since getting my 420a Eclipse. The chilton manual says to set the engine to TDC, then 1/2 BTDC. I'm just a bit confused on this. I know how to set it to top dead (checking compression on cyl 1 as well as the marking on the crankshaft), but am confused about setting 1/2 notch before dead center...(mainly because the chilton manual has you doing it after you've removed the old belt.. that doesn't seem right to me!)
Thx man, similar to the 3.8 L??
I ha e owned a 2004 mitsubishi lancer i bought it 6 years ago and check engine came on never had problem with it before So i had to replace my crankshaft sensor and notice my oil pulley was out of specifications has not been correct since i bought the car should i fix it or leave it the cam and harmonic pulley are correct 😅
I wish I found it before... thank you!!!
My oil pump sprocket still not lining up even after doing what you did and with the srew driver
Does it works same for a single cam 2005 mitsubishi galant 2.4 lts?
The lip on the smaller belts/balancer tensioner pulley goes to the out side or away from block. Just a bit hard to see in video since it a small lip.
I notice the crank sensor blade is diffidently from my 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander.. Can i use that same blade. Because i Order 1 an the dealer sent me 1 just like yours.
Fantastic video !Thanks again
For everyone commenting asking for car help this does not apply to any car made after 1999 it's the 4g6x platform either 2.L or 2.4L .
I noticed the water pump is not where it's suppose to be. Compared to a 2001.
Many Thanks!!!You are the man!!!:))))))))
Nice informative tutorial.
I was wondering what would be a ball park fee to have those belts changed say like in the state of Arkansas?
Use a puller tool.
ES UNA PUBLICACION IMPORTANTE PARA TODOS QUE ESTAMOS RELACIONADOS CON LA MECANICA AUTOMOTRIZ Y AGRADEZCO A TODOS LOS HACEN POSIBLE DE VISUALIZAR LOS VIDEOS GRACIAS.
Hola. Disculpa tu m podrías traducir este video pues tengo problema con ese punto
Te lo agradecería mucho pues he batalladocon esto y solo encuentro respuesta pero en inglés. Gracias
what can make a constant ticking/bearing noise behind the timing cover after doing the timing?
Is that little 3/8 drive tool with the two little nubs hard to find?
i`m not sure mitsubishi gave that to me in `89..
its on amazon
+homotorsports dude awesome tips! thanks good to know
is that trick with oil pump, with or without oil because mine stays in place it doesnt seem to move very easily. I'm guessing because there is oil in my engine.
Kinglionboy 777 can confirm without oil works for me
Where is your shop out of , what city ?
how do you tighten the crank shaft bolt after you put the belt on and cam shaft belt
thank you this has bin a long journey on my project car its all good ......I love my eclipse spider .
+Brian Curry - did you get your answer? I'm curious as well. Thanks
Fab a steel plate, drill 2 holes and insets some old scrap crank bolts into the pulley. Rest the bar on a trolley jack and crank it down to the correct NM
Hopefully this gets answered, if the CPS goes out, by "law" it shouldn't throw the timing off at all, should it?
No, it won't.
does the engine makes a loud noise when oil pump is not timed correctly???
It shakes hard.
Does the oil thing shaft has to do with no starting problem my bf had that question
No it shouldn't`t cause a no start condition
So I guess that's another thing !, thanks
Hey homotorsports I'm having a problem I can't get my sonata 2.4L to start after changing the b-belt,timing belt, poles and poles tensioners and also the crank position sensor I have all my marks in place like u said but I didn't think I put the tensioner polye like u said the two holes to the bottom can that be the problem I change the timing belts because b-belt was broken
Great video 👍🏻 it’s just like 2004 Hyundai Sonata engine and belt
or just for twin cams engine?
What city are you out of I need my evo 9 timing belt done ASAP ?
My 2001 galant 2.4 shuts off several seconds after starting it up. The RPMs go up like a normal start and then it shuts off. If I turn the key ever briefly to activate the starter the engine will continue to run for the same amount of time before shutting off. Any idea whats going on? Crank shaft sensor? Cam shaft sensor? IAC? :
just put it in gear preferbly reverse happened to mine but mines a v6 version itl get it going you might have to do it like twice or few times but itl work usualy after the first try itl stay idling
+Misa Martinez it was the camshaft sensor 40 dollar fix!
I`m glad i was able to share some of what i know about Mitsu.
Great video! Knowledge is power
is there a difference in the timing on a Hyundai Sonata versus a Mitsubishi Galant 2.4 4 cylinder in both cars
how do i get the front bolt off the crankshafft
