Great content! Many of us only get one week a year out on some slopes so seeing more of these beginner development videos is super helpful for us and our friends.
this is so funny because when I learn how to snowboard I was 15 and all my friends have been snowboarding for 10 years and they took me out to the top of the hill and they said okay let's go !!!!!!.......hhahahahaha
@@KH-mk6tzjust went to the mountain for 2 days in a row. My first two times ever on a mountain and i’m addicted now. this new hobby is taking all of my money
Just started yesterday, I went straight on the lift and hardly made it on then off. Shuffled across to the easiest run and sprained my wrist off the bat. Got used to riding and pretty much taught myself after a few falls and mistakes. Only now am I watching this video, great job me
Oh man, this brought back some memories. It's cool to see someone else learning. It also reminded me of how hard it was to learn the basics. Awesome job getting off the lift the first time without falling! Even after all these years, getting off the lift is still the hardest thing to me.
I started off learning from someone who just learned how to heel brake. They gave me an intermediate board and told me I'll figure it out as I go. First run on a bunny hill and then black diamond. Your videos and tutorials saved me.
This was honestly a comfort to watch. I'm signed up for classes to surprise my SO so that I can go with him this year, and I'm nervous. Loved seeing a real experience, and it looks like you two were having fun. Feeling a little better about it!
Love your videos, I have been a skier for over 30 years. Heading to Vail in January and decided this would be the year I would take up Snowboarding. I live in NYC and starting watching your videos, went to Big Snow in New Jersey and worked on the basics that you taught Chris, day 2 I took a private lesson at Big Snow which was amazing, and by day 3 I was killing it and hooked. I will never Ski again, I love Snowboarding and wished I would have taken it up years ago. So excited for Vail in a few weeks. Your videos have been way more helpful than others on here. Appreciate all you are doing...
Maybe keep skiing. Few more times. Before you quit😅 but Yes snowbording is alot better then skiing 😂 but seriously good job keep at it and you'll start riding switch in a few weeks hope you have fun in vail
Thanks for posting! Been boarding only for two years now and this weekend I am headed to Crested Butte and my girlfriend wants to try and learn for the first time. This video will be super helpful for me to teach her better how to ride.
I’m a big guy so I struggle to get up facing down. I prefer to get up from my knees but struggle with the turn from heels to toes. Definitely something I will continue to work on. Enjoy watching these videos and not feeling like the only newbie
I was thinking the same thing. The Super DOA has camber and is stiff. This is not the most forgiving thing to learn on. On the other hand, it makes me think I wasted my money buying my kids beginner boards.
Has been watching Kevin's video since my day 1 snowboarding, it's been over 5 years now, and I've seen Kevin's progress which is amazing! Another little thing that I just noticed, that this video has been up for almost 9 months, and there isn't a single dislike!!! Great Job Kevin and Great job to the whole snowboard community!! I'm the 200 comments by the way....
Picked boarding back up in mid 30s after 12 year break. Found I like much larger boards than I used to. All the new hybrid cambers and rockers are so much nicer than the straight camber sticks we had back in the day.
Thanks for this. I tried skiing a few years ago but I'm tall and I had skinny legs so it was hard to turn. Enjoyed it but never felt confident enough to get off the bunny slope (didn't want to run into anybody or a tree). Since then I've been working out a lot more and moved to Denver this year and want to try snowboarding this winter. Thanks Chris for putting yourself out there.
My daughter took indoor lessons on the snowboard for a few months. The first day she was out on real slopes she wanted to do blues dude. Unbelievable that she was riding down them Within a few hours.
A tip for beginners on improving is buying your own board having a consistent board that your used to will drastically improve your riding does not really matter if it’s worse than rentals
Another good thing to think about when you start boarding (for me at least) is that it is a lot easier to turn heel side and toe side when you have a decent bit of speed.
I’m taking my nephew snowboarding for his first time this year. I’m so glad I watched your videos first. I love your approach. I also didn’t know adidas made snowboarding boots which is pretty cool.
I was looking to buy the Adidas boots (great boots, especially for large feet) for this season but in the end got a pair of Vans Invado pro. Awesome boots.
My friend taught me by just teaching me the skate part the heel and toe edge parts and just made me go down green and blue. Actually ended up not falling at all a couple runs in
Such a rad video series, so really good tips for when I get back to learning to snowboard after lockdowns! The improv snow angel when he fell is a tip I’m going take for when I get back to falling 😂 found it so hard when I first started so this series has got me so stoked to get back into it and try and get better!
Top video’s , my girls wanted something else than swim vacations, so they asked I’ve we could go snowboarding, here I’m 43 years , my wifey 3 kids watching your videos and making progress everyday ! To bad have to leave the alps in 2 days 😢 I’m not that good but already addicted to book the next wintersport holiday 🎉
I started Snowboarding in 1995 I was 39. I rode for 2 years and gave it up till I was 63. I moved back to Fernie BC and now I’m a MTB rider as well as a Boarder.
My first time going snowboarding was last Saturday the 27th of November and the first place my friend took me was to the lift for the intermediate slopes. To say the least, I was not ready for those. I can't blame him for there were no beginners slopes open at the time at Hunter Mountain, but I did get off the lift successfullyish, because I fell after I glided away from the area. From there I was just standing up snowboarding a bit and on the floor. I couldn't finish the whole slope, I got there about halfway there. I was drained and tired, but I can't wait for next week. I leased my equipment and if I end up improving and still like it this season, I'll buy my equipment at the end of this one. I was also sore afterwards and the next day.
Chris really killed it, today was my first day but i have had a hard time alone figuring out to do it. You are a good friend, learned a lot from this vid
teaching really takes a lot of skill and patience. You can be an experienced rider and a horrible teacher (myself) , it's so tough for me to teach newcomers, but my buddy on the other hand can get someone riding a green by the end of day 2. Just goes to show
Thank you for all the amazing , encouraging comments that have helped me realize it’s not too late to start snowboarding. For that matter anything else in life. You all Rock with the great comments here .I am working on getting into shape for it as I really would like to do it next year .
Done two sessions already. The heel slide and eventual falling leaf is critical. Toe side will fall into place once you get the heel. Helps to point and look in the desired location.
Im going to learn snowboarding by myself this friday these videos help me learn how to move so i have a good starter knowledge gonna let you know end of this season how much i learned
I had my first lesson last sunday and lost count of my falls. The next day I had body malaise every part of me plus bruises on my knees and legs 😂 but today my 2nd lesson it went well and I see my progress, the instructor was happy or at least positive of my performance 😅😂. I can't wait to see me make my graceful moves 😂
Awesome coaching Kevin! I have one tip! For me it feels better to drag my heel in the snow when I'm trying to stop while one footing. Easier to push harder that way I think, still Chris did great 👍🏻 can't wait for your next video to see his progression!
it's never too late to start snowboarding, it's so much fun, i started at age 44

Update😂 I learned how to board today. Linking turns and stopping much better. Onto more practice. Fuckin lovin it. Pardon my French.

Skiing and boarding is amazing luckily with snowboarding you can always ride your edge down

Watching this makes me realize how much I suck at teaching my friends...I'm sorry friends, I will do better...
It’s okay john vu I’m sure they forgive u

One of the best videos for teaching to begineers, nice bravo!

How do you know if you are left or right foot dominant. And can you do a gear set up for beginner women. (Boots, bonding and boards)
