Worked great on about 6"-8" of average snow starts to struggle a bit past 8". th-cam.com/users/postUgkxoHYZbq5g9fkcAtinlTqstNlje-UQkCHN Very light weight and the chute spin control works well. For the low price you get a ton of value. My only complaint is managing the cord as it does take a fair bit of effort to watch and pull the cord out of the way. I found myself having to whip the cord out of the way a lot when I needed to make one way passes to mange the blow direction. It's less of an issue when you can work both directions. A battery powered version would be a lot easier to handle but that is also double the price and requires battery care. I chose the corded version so I didn't have to worry about batteries but I do now see how much work the cord is. I let my neighbor borrow it and it outperformed his smaller gas blower, he was totally sold. Very pleased with the power and operations. My only suggestion is to spend a bit more on a cordless version if you have budget for it. The cord is a bit more of a headache than I thought it would be. Very pleased with the Snow Joe brand and quality.

Some great tips in here, however I wouldn’t rule out skating with the foot in front entirely. I taught snowboarding for 15 years and I always taught both ways and let students decide what worked better for them. I alternate between the 2 to give different muscles a break and I find foot in front takes up a bit less space in a crowded lift line. Never tried that heel edge trick to stand still before, so looking forward to giving that a shot. Great video!
Regarding fog ups, additional community tip: I board in the PNW. We have more wet days than we have cotton candy powder. This is a nightmare for all goggles if the temp is 32 degrees and all that snow is melting / evaporating off you. I use Smith Skyline XL goggles which are great for anti fog, but still fell victim. 1) Make sure your baclava, hair, beanie or any sort of mask is not UNDER the goggle foam. Should be only your goggle foam and your skin touching each other, that is it. Your sweat / snow will be banking itself in that extra material and evaporating in the goggle faster than it is designed to air out. It also breaks the goggles seal with your skin. Never break the seal. 2) Dont look down excessively at your board / bindings. Hot air rises. That hot air will be sticking to your outer and potentially inner lenses. Learn to strap in off feel while looking dead ahead. (Even while standing). 3) I’d leave your nose exposed to the elements on wet days. Beanie and mask will vent hot air right to your goggles. Take breaks to raise the mask / beanie when you’re not breathing hard (and probably cold). 4) if they fog up and they will; spend quality time to actually clear them. Truly Fogged goggles are dangerous and will most likely only get worse. Put them in your jacket and open a vent to air. Use the chair lift like he said. Go into the lodge. They should clear in 10-15 minutes no problem. 5) Do not wipe the lenses. Do not wipe the lenses. In fact, I would never wipe the lenses while out on the slopes. The outer generally clear itself with a head shake and some fresh cool air. With the inner being wet, see point 4. 6) Can’t say it enough. Don’t break the seal. - Also OT, bibs are worth every cent you spend on them. All your loot right on your chest and within easy reach to check on. Plus no snow in your pants is a silver lining after you scorpioned infront of the entire chair lift.
I've been watching TJ for years now and everything he says has been so helpful! been developing my snowboards for years now and your videos has helped me a lot to get to the level I can shred some sick slopes. Super friendly and helpful guy in person too. Glad we met in whistler. next time It'll be sick to ride with you in NZ sometime.
that tip of pressing your backfoot against the binding, or moving it all the way forward is indeed useful. about the highback, i have Flow bindings, where the highback folds backwards. For strapping in.. i just start of where it is not too steep if there's no flat spot, slide my backfoot in, and lift the highback in position.. works like a charm.(the same basically goes for step-in bindings (though these are not common)) When i stop on a hill, indeed i always stop facing up, but then i just drop to my knees.. easy enough to get going again..
Thanks a bunch for this! Every time you mentioned something that seemed so obvious, but isn't...I went "Oh yeah!" Awesome. I'll have to try these out next time
This is a few nice reminders for me as I prepare for my first snowboarding in two and a half years. Queenstown see you in July! Keep up the great content TJ
Yo I watch a shit ton of educational videos/reviews/Documentaries/etc... This was Crazy informative.. I've spent a few months of my life snowboarding, so there are always people I'm trying to learn from, but there is no part of the mountain I cant and I enjoy the park. And even I after decades felt like I just learned so much man. This should be taught at every mountain that rents a snowboard to a new user..
Good tips! A little late to this but for some reason it popped up on my feed in the middle of the summer :D One thing I do to get rid of ice buildup in the binding, if I'm riding with skiers, I borrow a pole and use the bottom end to get it out while we're in queue for lifts
For the chairlift: put the back down and then connect the front strap very loosely so you can slide in after getting on the lift . It is the most comfortable way to ride the lift by far and still protects the back.
Great info, one thing to mention is placing your keys or property in pockets that you don’t fall or could fall on. I’ve had keys stab me, I’ve fell on a safety meeting device, I’ve fell on my phone and broke the screen etc, I always keep my keys in a lock box or with someone I know in the village, and my essentials near my chest pockets. Contusions to the hip or but hurt. Chest rarely hits first
Thank you for these videos, I was a long time Keystone Local we probably have met, maybe not my finest hour but, The Windows and Huts outta bound off River Run! Always contributed to take and leave.
The foggy goggle thing sucks i couldnt figure it out for the life of me for jeez my first 3 or 4 years on the slopes there would be times i had to take them off because of how fogged out they would get great video think you hammered home all the basic important snowboarding tips and tricks
I don't agree with the skating with your foot on the back tip, but I think it's a difference between North America and Europe. Here in Europe we learn it with the foot in front, like on a skateboard and once you get used to that, it's very easy and you can skate much faster than with your foot on the back. With your foot at the back you push with your foot sideways and you even stand a little backwords with your upper body. With the foot in front you can turn your shoulders a little in the direction you're moving. I suggest everybody to try both ways.
Tip i learned from watching Cody Townsend’s back country tips: keep a pot and pan scraper brush in your pocket to clean off excess snow from your board and bindings so you don’t have to use your glove and get ‘em wet or wear them out.
thats an interesting tip! I think that might be a little overkill for a regular resort day, but I can see that making sense in the backcountry wanting to keep your gloves dry
@@BoardArchive It is a little overkill for most days, tbh. It’s nice to have in my bag though, it’s small, durable, lightweight and only cost $5. I live in CA and have the good ol Sierra cement snow, so I mostly use it for wetter/slushier days when my bindings get compacted snow. I want come to CO sometime, looks like a good time from the vids you post :)
I had off-brand bindings that didnt have a heel cup to rest my foot on when on the lift. This year I finally got some union bindings and I’ll just have to see how much better it is when hidden valley opens
I will never forget my 2nd!! day on snowboard...top of Marmolada Italy .. scariest but also most exciting feeling...I've made it down somehow...half on my ass half on my face...this "holiday" did hurt me a lot...since then I've only got better and now I can actually enjoy it🥳 But thinking going to ski because it's just do much easier especially getting off lifts..also even on shit snow you could enjoy it but wet snow and snowboarding isn't fun.. Damn it i miss it...been now 3 seasons 😅
I really screwed up my left ankle the first time I ever got off a lift with a board (coming from skis). TBH it's never recovered from that sprain. The point of me telling that is not to dissuade you by any means. Just be conscience that your lead foot is strapped into a heavy long board and your other foot is not. So when you wipe out you can twist it really really bad. I recommend strapping into the board, both feet, at the base of the mountain. Then gently fall over both forward and backward. Get up two or three times, the detach the aft foot and do some more practice falls. Simply because coming from skis you can fall certain way, but snowboards are way different. The board is much safer when your both feet strapped in. But it's downright dangerous to try and get off a fast moving lift onto pure ice the first time you ever strap one foot in and attempt a ride up.
Oh man Ive been pushing up to the lift wrong all these years! How embarrassing. Oh well it's what works for me now and I'm not changing. Thanks for all the tips
It just depends on the pitch of the snow to the lift approach. I use both depending on outside or inside banking, and what position of lift I'll be in.
@@randomabidingdude I found this in my gmail, didn't know these responses went in a different folder! Oh well, I have to admit I tried the other way and it works fine. Both work but I've grown to prefer the "proper" method.
One of the best warm-ups I found once I got my comfortable doing, one foot small mellow runs. It takes a bit of practice to do but once you get it down, i usually do a couple one foot runs at start of day. I got wide feet and would always have sore feet after couple runs because of binding fatigue. So I decided to learn how to one foot like 2012 Scott stevens and it oddly helped my feet from getting sore. It actually helped so much, I felt way more comfortable on my snowboard.
One foot riding is an excellent skill to get comfortable with and can really save your bacon if you ever have any serious binding issues at the top or mid-run.
Got a new kit last season after a couple with the previous. Pullover with kangaroo pouch to a mid zip with normal pockets, so I wasn’t used to it. So many times I’d wind up with pockets of snow and lost a phone for the first time ever on the hill. CHECK YA POCKETS
What helped me a lot, anti fog spray. Some guy had it on him sprayed my goggles. needed to wait for 15 minutes. It was totally worth the wait, no fog for the whole day!
An addition to the skating tip. Rotate your foot when you push so that your toes are pointing towards the tail of the board. This takes up less space, especially in lift lines, and to me feels more natural. High back down is a good one; have fallen after catching a high back under chair getting off lift.
When you stand-strapping just turn around and hit 1-2 times to dig your heel edge so it wont slide downhill. Its much easier and you can do it even on a steeper slope. Exactly like when you jump-and-dig in the end of the video

Well said . Beaver slap can loosen bindings quicker. Also the lift crew hates the beaver slapers try and do it at the top not in line if you remember lol
hahah yeah not the best lift line move
I just realized the uniforms in the video! your at PARK CITY!!! that place rocks! I worked out there for a little while and I will never forget my time there. great riding out there!
I’ve never tried the heal dig while waiting for someone. Thanks for the tip.
Kicking the high back down at the lift is a great one. Been riding more than 25 years and never had an issue but you never know. Will try to make that a habit.
The stopping on hill using the heel edge tip was lyfe! Never thought of that and I’ve been on hill for years.
I get a little nostalgic watching her grow on the slopes. I was a single mom but me and my 2 boys spent many memorable hours on the slopes. I hope I'm around to watch her slay the Olympics!
BTW just curious... Are Cash and Sage friends yet? I have no doubt they'll be compeditors before long. Keep the vids coming I'm a big fan!
Every time the winter olympics happen i enjoy watching snowboarding and always wish i could try it. I end up watching these types of videos hoping that i could but then remember i live in Texas lol
I commented above too. Rotate foot pointing to back of board, takes less space in lift line.
Is there any downside to skating/pushing with the foot in front like a skateboard?
I’ve been riding for 20 years now and am way more comfortable foot in front 🤙
Agreed. I also think you can get more power and speed with your foot in front vs back. Definitely just situational and good to be comfy with both.
I do a push or two in the front and then in the back so I alternate like every couple pushes
This is very good for me because this is my first time snowboarding

Also OT, bibs are worth every cent you spend on them. All your loot right on your chest and within easy reach to check on. Plus no snow in your pants is a silver lining after you scorpioned infront of the entire chair lift.
Awesome dude
Man i wish i had this video 4 years ago when I went snowboarding for the first time. Great advise and tips.
Great tips
I've been watching TJ for years now and everything he says has been so helpful! been developing my snowboards for years now and your videos has helped me a lot to get to the level I can shred some sick slopes. Super friendly and helpful guy in person too. Glad we met in whistler. next time It'll be sick to ride with you in NZ sometime.
that tip of pressing your backfoot against the binding, or moving it all the way forward is indeed useful.
about the highback, i have Flow bindings, where the highback folds backwards.
For strapping in.. i just start of where it is not too steep if there's no flat spot, slide my backfoot in, and lift the highback in position.. works like a charm.(the same basically goes for step-in bindings (though these are not common))
When i stop on a hill, indeed i always stop facing up, but then i just drop to my knees.. easy enough to get going again..
Watching your hand movements in the mitts is so funny!
i enjoy watching this content even tho I am an experienced rider. beaver slaps for days
I wish I saw this before today! I had to buy new goggles at the resort as mine kept fogging up! I need to try that trick asap!
Cheers! I'm goint to try to remember all of these when I will go try snowboarding for the first time wednesday :)
Even tho I am a pretty experienced snowboarder I still enjoyed watching haha
TJ is so cool, his front lip is the best I’ve seen. 😎
The foggy goggle thing sucks i couldnt figure it out for the life of me for jeez my first 3 or 4 years on the slopes there would be times i had to take them off because of how fogged out they would get great video think you hammered home all the basic important snowboarding tips and tricks
Great tips TJ, this is going to help a lot of people have a better first time out on the mountain
I never knew that goggle fog trick! Thats awesome!
My god, I’m 49 and that tip to dig your heel edge in on a downward slope is awesome 🤩
I had off-brand bindings that didnt have a heel cup to rest my foot on when on the lift. This year I finally got some union bindings and I’ll just have to see how much better it is when hidden valley opens
keep us posted!
I always knew we'd get along... These tips prove it!
I will never forget my 2nd!! day on snowboard...top of Marmolada Italy .. scariest but also most exciting feeling...I've made it down somehow...half on my ass half on my face...this "holiday" did hurt me a lot...since then I've only got better and now I can actually enjoy it🥳
But thinking going to ski because it's just do much easier especially getting off lifts..also even on shit snow you could enjoy it but wet snow and snowboarding isn't fun..
Damn it i miss it...been now 3 seasons 😅
ah I love that you started with tips for lifting, I am really anxious about my first attempts :D
THIS VIDEO IS EVERYTHING I WISH AND I NEEDED TO KNOW SO THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THESE VERY LEGITIMATE TIPS AND TRICKS
That hoodie is incredible! Can't wait till it drops, might actually buy it :'))
Hey Red, I'm going to Red mtn today (in Rossland BC Canada)...can u elaborate on one foot riding?
2021 is my second year snowboarding. I'm good enough to go on my own. I've still learned a few things from this video
I loved how you freestyle with a rigid binding like union atlas. I'm a beginner so very curious about your thoughts.
Got a new kit last season after a couple with the previous. Pullover with kangaroo pouch to a mid zip with normal pockets, so I wasn’t used to it. So many times I’d wind up with pockets of snow and lost a phone for the first time ever on the hill. CHECK YA POCKETS
Oh yes, She doin it ! Thanks for takin us along x
‘Make sure all pockets are zipped!!’ This is KEY. Lol.
I like the hand movements with the mits..
