      Just got this yesterday on black Friday for 27.99. I love it. I will not be using the head-tracking but am excited about the 3 monitoring options. If it's good enough for Chris Lord Alge, it's good enough for me. A no sub setting for the CLA's would have been nice, but the sub makes them more accurate so I'm good.

    When I use the boom box setting, I just turn my head about 45° to the left and it centers the sound, just from behind.
    Also as a Studio One user, I put this on my Listen Bus, post fader. This gives me the most natural sound possible, and is in a place where if I export my mix this doesn't get rendered with it even if I forget to bypass it.

    Thank you so much for the in-depth video. I’ve been a devotee to the Abby road studio 3 but after watching this I tried the cla nx must say I’m very impressed. I do edm I find Abby road studio is very bass heavy even on the near fields but cla is more balanced the bass region, do you agree?
    Also sometimes I get a phasing sound in Abby road especially on the largest speakers but doesn’t seem this way in cla studio. Is that something you found as well?
    Keep up the vids great work!

    Nice video! For Reaper users... if the Monitor FX button is not already showing on the top right corner of the window, just go to the View menu and click on Monitoring FX. Then, just put this kind of plugin there and you won't need to worry about turning them off when rendering/exporting the songs. But, you should turn it off if you get back to listening on your monitors.
    I have the first Nx plugin and i like to use it when mixing on headphones. I don't really use the headtracking feature, but it works great and it's really fun (I use it with my laptop's camera).
    Bobby.. do you have Sonarworks too? Do you think its better than the headphone EQ from the Nx plugins?

    • @RaytownProductions
      @RaytownProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use sonarworks correction over the built in eq (i have the beyerdynamic 880 pros - which waves had an eq curve for).
      For me personally, the sonarworks sounded more "right". But the waves one did a good job of fixing any of the major flaws but sounded more faithful to the original headphones compared to sonarworks which made them especially flat. Hope that helps Rodrigo! Thanks for the awesome Reaper insight! Cheers bro!

    • @RaytownProductions
      @RaytownProductions  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Completely up to your taste! For me I liked it a little drier (60-70%).
      I'm not sure if NX cla supports 5.1. I think you might need Nx abbey road studio for that! Be sure to double check that!

    • @RaytownProductions
      @RaytownProductions  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I would keep it ON during the mix. Don't switch back and forth. You want it to help inform your mixing decisions. Also, be absolutely sure to REFERENCE songs THROUGH this plugin to help re-calibrate your ears for what great mixes sounds like when listened this way.

    How does this make it any easier than the Nashville Ocean Way plugin?? Sounds any better??

    • @RaytownProductions
      @RaytownProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think this and ocean way are the best two out there right now for Waves. CLA felt a little bit better to me and based on the impulse response I've extracted from the plugin, the CLA Nx IS smoother (frequency wise) compared to ocean way. But I think the differences is something that you can easily get used to if you use it enough.
      I'd say grab a demo of it and see what you think! Thanks for the comment Corey!

    have you tried slate vsx? if so how does it compare to the waves stuff?

    • @RaytownProductions
      @RaytownProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven't because it's been hard to get. But I think the results would be similar. The nice thing with this system is it supports lots of headphone models that are already out there so you don't have to buy additional gear and can pick this up for almost 15X less than the VSX. In this case I don't think having more rooms like in VSX is necessarily better. It's more of a distraction. I can't imagine intimately knowing how 10 plus different rooms and speaker systems sound. But having the choice of just two plus the boombox feature I think keeps you focused during mixing or mastering. Hope that makes sense and gives you some perspective. Thanks for watching man!

    • @pratherbby
      @pratherbby 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yooo! I use VSX as a daily driver. I'd say they're close but for me to compare I'd have to really dive in deep with the software vs listening to this video in the short time I have. Off the bat, the emulation does feel pretty good on the NX so far, and I like the extra features for turning around/head tracking etc, definitely would feel less static in the headphones. I do this the vsx felt a little more direct and clear imo which could be a few different things being that one is through youtube, and one a file on my computer, I feel there could definitely be some flaws in how I've chose to test them but I think for now my choice is VSX, but for 29 bucks.. its worth a damn shot haha.

      I personally like this one better than AR. This and ocean way Nashville are my favorites. AR sounds a little phasey to me whereas this and ocean way Nashville have an ambience knob that let's you dial in the amount of room you want. I find that to be a very helpful feature. I have another review comparing Abbey road vs oceanway Nashville vs the original NX plugin : th-cam.com/video/sy4S8kfILAs/w-d-xo.html

  • @rallzam
    @rallzam ปีที่แล้ว

    hey mate, thx for your work. at 6:00 you said, put the nx before the sonarworks. is this legit? cuz everyone i talked to, said sonarworks should be first, then the nx plugin. and for me this sounds very logical. your headphones have a own frequency response, sonarworks have a fixed layout for your headphones, to make them flat (there is no a.i that scans your FR and build one to flatten them, its a fixed one) but when you put nx you change the frequency response of your "headphones", so then the fixed profile of sonarworks, doesnt fit correctly anymore to your headphones. im 100% sure, that you should have sonarworks before nx.

    • @RaytownProductions
      @RaytownProductions  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is correct. In most cases it won't matter (they are linear processes). But in the case that you use a custom sonarworks correction with different left and right profiles, waves nx can actually "break" this correction according to sonarworks. So they recommend putting sonarworks after. Sounds crazy but mathematically it works out 🤘
