    Fully agree about the testing going on by manufacturers. Everything is done on computers through simulators and it just isn’t the same thing as real world testing

    Toyota was having fuel gauge problems before that. My 2020 Camry gauge read wrong. The dealer said it was normal and should work itself out. There was nothing they could do to help. The Camry forum said to run it almost empty a few times. Running it empty got the gauge working for a while. It was spooky watching the indicated miles left show almost 190 miles and dashing out 30 miles later with another 15 more miles left. The analog gauge went from full to empty when the low level light come on. I learn the car will, at go 453 miles on a tank that night.

      @jeanclaude7018 LOL. And self breaking again when I started keeping it full before I dumped it. Wait... Did Boeing help design the car with Toyota? Hardly anything worked right for more than a month.

      @jeanclaude7018 I was one of those fanboys. After experiencing how they stand behind their products I'm trying to decide if I want to take another chance. The Camry wasn't a $60k vehicle so they didn't care about the ones that had trouble. I do think Toyota is the best of junks, but it's expensive junk compared to the stuff they used to put out. The govt isn't the whole reason they put out junk now, it's profit. The big three junk makers got Toyota added to be the big four.

      @jeanclaude7018 We got a 97 Altima with over 250k miles. It was my mom's car, then mine, then my nephew's, and now my grand nephew's. Still runs great and has had less problems than my old Camry's with less miles. One radiator, front end parts twice and one alternator. Nissan still makes great engines but the CVT transmissions suck bad. My grand nephew gone through a Ford and two Chevy's he bought used. He doesn't check the oil often enough but he does have it changed on time. The Altima doesn't burn or leak oil, even with all those miles. I told him if he doesn't check the oil and keep the car up Mamo was going to haunt his ass. I wanted a long lasting 4 door with a trunk to lock things in. I can't say how long the new Camry would have lasted but it didn't feel like it would make it very long. And the trunk couldn't be locked out like the old cars. The dealer told me it could and spent over a hour talking to engineers and they decided it was it was. I'd jump on a new Maxima in a heart beat but Nissan decided to put that crappy CVT in it.

    • @OnlyMeee-ie3dw

      @jeanclaude7018 I'm getting lazy when it comes to driving. LOL Just a simple long lasting car is all I want. I drove the new Camry almost a month before I realized it had a back up camera. Because of the past quality of the Camry's it made sense to buy another one. I remember those commercials about the Maxima but I needed a pickup back then. Money was too tight to have two cars or even a car payment. I want to relax while driving and there wasn't any relaxing with the new Camry. It wanted to stop, not drive. It was scary sometimes because it would hit the brakes for no reason. I joked the car seen a ghost crossing the highway. It had a whole colony of gremlins living in it. I miss the low tech 80's/90's cars. Simple and dependable.

      @jeanclaude7018 "Television on my dash." LOL That sums up what's happening now days. It's stupid to have that crap.Toyota wouldn't warranty the moisture building up between the glass on the 2020. It didn't effect the performance of it according to them though it locked up sometimes. I checked in to buying another one if it broke, if I was going to be stuck with it with the car. $2100 for that "TV" out of a junk Camry plus dealer charges to do what they needed to do to make everything work! My brother had a late 80's Hardbody. It was till running great after 200k miles. I've never seen the service out of a pickup that did as much as it did up to that point. It was a couple hundred cheaper than the Toyota pickup.

  • @duggydo
    @duggydo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    I don’t know if the testing is worse or not. I think some things are better and some are worse. This new gen Tundra seems to have a lot of cost savings in materials reduction.
    I do think automakers are doing more recalls now for problems they wouldn’t have in the past. I owned a 2000 S10 with a remote mount oil filter. Wire lume would rub on part of the aluminum oil lines and wore a hole through them. I noticed burning oil smell on the highway and caught it before I lost too much oil or anything caught fire. I know it was fairly common, but never got a recall notice for it. Maybe NHTSA is pushing for more recalls nowadays?

    • @TheCarGuyOnline
      @TheCarGuyOnline  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the increase in recalls is due to vehicle complexity/cost cutting measures and real safety issues. There are a lot of things that aren't recalls like you said...but still issues nonetheless. With software eating the vehicles...that doesn't help matters either.

    1. Debris causing engine failure even on the replacement engine
    2. Transmission issues
    3. Bad rear end
    4. Plastic panels breaking
    5. Turbo failure
    6. Water pump breaking off the block
    7. Doors rattling
    8. Fuel line rubbing a hole in itself
    9. Fuel gauge not working
    10. $900+ every 40k miles to change spark plugs (if the engine lasts that long.)
    Toyota, please don't redesign anything else. Pretty please!

    I had my ‘22 Tundra in for a bad turbo and I got a loaner ‘23. When I went to fill up the loaner, the fuel gauge didn’t go to full. The dealer had the nerve to charge me for not refueling the vehicle until I complained enough about the issue with the loaner. Two months later, the fuel gauge on my tundra is reading inaccurately and now I have to go back to the dealer…again!

I’m nervous because it has 30k mileage and we bought from the dealer is there anything else I should be concerned with? This car came out of factory late August 2023-September 2023 so I’m assuming it’s the same issue as the 2022-2023 issue with the fuel lines! Interesting video...would like to point out the consumers are constantly asking for updates, new designs, refreshed looks, etc...and they want a lower price year over year. This puts a tremendous strain on OEMs...they have to rely more on virtual or lab-type simulations in order to prove out the designs...difficult situation for them for sure.
    That's why a 5th Gen 4Runner is so loved...all the kinks are worked out...the 5.7L is solid not even the 3.6 Pentastar is decent not...
    Question is do consumers want a reliable design and are willing to wait a bit longer between cycles I am sure that the vehicle quality will improve...

    These new Tundras have been a disaster for Toyota. They should have left alone the previous model with the V8 and made cosmetic changes. Or at least have a model available with the previous teste and proven V8. You couldn't give me for free a 2022 and newer Tundra. And if you did, I would sell it immediately. That truck would be so much better in reliability than any new truck from any company, including Toyota ironically. Now that high mileage vehicle would have to be inspected by a pro, have a good service record through carfax, I would make sure it got taken care of (no rust etc). Even through all that hassle, the used V8 Tundra, would still be better than any new Tundra. Plus it already took a the depreciation. That's just me though. I don't buy new cars.
