Inside the studio: Rachel Davies Mosaics creates miniature mosaic art inspired by nature

- Watch as I create a small mosaic inspired by turkey tail fungus growing on a tree stump. Small slate pebbles were used to represent the fungus, while pieces of Easdale slate were used to represent the tree stump. Some pieces of filati (the small green glass pieces) were also added to this mosaic. All the pieces are individually set into a bed of pigmented tile adhesive (also known as thinset).
The mosaic was created as part of an art challenge to create a series of small mosaics inspired by images from nature. The mosaic measures 2.5x3.5 inches.
