- Watch as I create a small mosaic inspired by turkey tail fungus growing on a tree stump. This abstract mosaic design was created using pieces of shell for the fungus, and the gaps between are filled with pieces of filati (the small round glass pieces) The background is made with various types of stone . All the pieces in the mosaics are individually cut by hand and set into a bed of pigmented tile adhesive (also known as thinset).
The mosaic was created as part of an art challenge to create a series of small mosaics inspired by images from nature. The mosaic measures 2.5x3.5 inches.
I have some PDFs available for free that cover some of the techniques I use to make my mosaics. Visit the following links for more details.
