John, I’m looking for recommendations for a large (1.5” or larger) 125 grain 3 blade mechanical for turkey hunting. KI X1 will be launching device, about 455-460 grain total arrow weight.
Grim Reaper's area a great choice for that. Also, Spitfire Maxx, TruGlo Titanium X, Wac'Em Steel EXP...to name a few others. Or go with a 3" + cut 2 blade; those are my faves...like a Shwacker 243 or a Vortex.
I think at this point any broadhead that requires a o-ring/plastic clip/break pin to be put in place or replaced to use and reuse a broad head is already behind the curve as far as technology goes.
I love my Bowtech. Still own 2 of them. But I've really liked what Elite has been doing and wanted to try a longer ATA, longer brace height bow--and it's about a pound lighter.
Cool head, i just can't trust all the moving parts. I've seen this type of head fail and not open, that scares me. Maybe, I'm just old school and stuck in my ways. 🤷
I have a suggestion. Now that you have some sort of affiliation with a crossbow company you should do 2 tests. One for your vertical bow and one for your crossbow. A lot of xbow hunters up my way
I’ve considered that. But the two tests are actually revealing quite similar results. I have the crossbow shooting at the same basic speed as the compound, but it can be mounted on a tripod and shot with a scope, eliminating more human error.
I hate O rings. NAP has a great broadhead in the KillZone with a far superior blade retention method. Why not make a Stainless KillZone instead of a Rage copy? That said I did have a KillZone fall apart on the way to a deer. So they’d need to come up with an improvement there as well for me to ever shoot them again.
Actually it looks like the old Rocky Mountain Snyper broadhead. That is the design rage stole and then came up with a no band system claiming it was so much better. The bands never bothered me and those old snypers killed deer well.
Love it!
:)

Xbow testing! Yeah baby yeah! Looks like a hypodermic knock off with an o ring.
:)

Well, I hear ya. But O rings are also often the quickest to open. Everything is a trade off.
I think it held up better then a rage. John what speed are the bo.ts flying at out of the crossbows??
About 300 fps. I wanted to get them to a speed similar to vertical bow speeds.
John, when did you switch from your Bowtech? You like the new bow??

How many times can you re-invent the rage..
If rage had the quality and durability they wouldn't have to.
If the rage wasn't made a n china they wouldn't have to reinvent the rage
Rage didn't invent the slip cam, barrie archery did, it was a rocky mountain snyper!
@@jasoncourchaine3685yessir glad others will point this out

Why do you think there was such a discrepancy between layered cardboard and ballistic gel penetration?
It’s interesting how that happens at times. The cardboard draws out the penetration further; the gel tends to stick to blades.

The steel plate sure makes u question rear deployment. Not a fan
Well, some can handle it very well, like Sevrs.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures I agree with u on that
It appears the blades aren’t interlocking and can collapse and the need for an o-ring is a negative IMO.
Yep. Very few mechs lock open
Lost me at the accuracy issue. Typical NAP durability (there isn’t any). Great video
:)
Make a more laid back 1.5-1.75" version, getting close to the original snyper from rocky mountain
:)
That’s a no from me😕 although I do like the ring system better than the rage collar system
:)
Grenade impacts in hard materials
:)
39 layers has to be near the lowest ever recorded.
I wouldn’t buy them but it is a wide cut slowing it down quickly
Yep. Not very good. Some are even lower.
Did Rage loose their patent?
People like you make me laugh you act like rage invented that style of head
Snyder made the first slip cam design, I think. I have no idea who has what patent on these things.
@@LuskArcheryAdventures the first ones I remember were Rocky Mountain Snypers

rocky mt was bought out and became rage 20 years ago
Thanks for sharing that.
The verdict got knocked out
:)
Nothing like making a copy of something that's already junk.
:)
I'm predominantly a fixed head guy. Exceptions are Sevr broadheads. These just look like a junk copy of a junk head to me.
:)
Another rage head
:)
And the verdict is……NO! 😏
Haha
*Promosm* 👊
???
Rage got rid of the need for a band now we go backwards after copying their design. No thanks
I get it
These heads are similar to all 2 blade rear deploy heads. They will
Kill a deer…
Yep
Uhhhh nope. 👎
:)
