im seeing why you dont necessarily need a reamp box. you have boss pedals which has a buffer in it. the buffer changes the signal to a guitar friendly signal. especially in bypass mode.

  • @Pulse2AM

I remember doing this in Logic 3x, what a hassle no plugin just routing and you'd get horrible feedback if not careful. This is great, S1 is my favorite.

A quick word on the need for a reamp box - you're mostly right:
    - Level: Turning down the level of the output will indeed do the trick
    - Impedance: If you're running any buffers or buffered pedals the output impedance also should not be a problem.
    - Ground loops: If you're using an isolated power supply (or batteries for that matter) to power your pedals there should not be any possibility for ground loops.
    - Balanced to unbalanced here's the problem: By plugging an unbalanced instrument cable (TS plug) into the balanced output (TRS) you're shorting the ring to ground. Depending on the interface/converter's output circuitry this MIGHT damage its output stage - at least some manufacturers specifically state that you should avoid doing this. To solve this you could simply wire up a "TRS-TS converter cable" where the ring is left floating, i.e. not connected to anything.

I’m really excited to try this. I’m waiting for my new interface to arrive, but the second it gets here I’m giving that a try and see what my pedal board sounds like on everything! Lol. I’m also extremely excited to try out the Presonus Studio 192. That interface on paper is absolutely PERFECT for what I’ve been wanting and looking for in an interface. I’m glad I found one. They are getting pretty scarce to find a brand new one right now. If I had a Thunderbolt connection than I would have heavily considered the Quantum though.

Good video! I use almost the same rig, Studio One 5 Pro, Quantum 2626, and route out through outboard and pedals. I wish you would have shown the I/o settings for the send/return in Pipeline, cause I have never been able to make it work. I run into some sort of audio loop, and I can never get the I/o right. With the 2626 I can route the gear without the Pipeline plugin, though, so I do that. But I wish I could get the I/o routing right with Pipeline with the 2626.

Hi Joe. Silly question. I'm using a Studio 1810c. I set up Pipeline Stereo to a hardware compressor and I can't get it to work. I'm showing a stereo signal through the entire path in S1, my hardware VU's, and the I/O in Pipeline. I'm only able to use headphones at the moment. Is it possible to monitor a Pipeline connect via headphones or do I have to use my studio monitors in the Main Outs on the 1810c? I'm kind of at a loss at this point. Thank you.

Just use the adats outs on your soundcard.
Signals can be send out to like the Behringer ada8000 from the DAW and back in to another ada8000 for 4 stereo or 8 mono inputs.
I've done this before and it works great. Trust me.

It's a P.I.T.A trying to organize sounds moving them from bank to bank which you can't do with the hold control method when moving sounds from bank to bank. You literally have to dig for sounds on in folders you used on another bank just to re-arrange them on different banks.

You should do a video on the impulse response maker plugin. I was trying to create and impulse response with a lexicon reverb unit hooked up to Presonus Studio 26 interface. I had the outputs 3 and 4 hooked to the inputs of the reverb and the outputs of the reverb hooked up to the inputs 1 and 2. No matter what I did I was getting a noise loop doing this. When I turned up the input on the reverb unit it started to feedback on itself somehow even though no signal was being fed out from studio one. It's extremely annoying. Even not having the monitor button for the inputs on I could hear a faint signal in my headphones also. This is leading me to think the interface itself might be the issue. I'm not a noob, and have used the IR maker for guitar cab impulses with my Studiolive 1642, but that's not in my home space.

Hey Joe, sorry that this is off topic (that is as cool thing I will have to try at some point as soon as I can upgrade my interface though!) but I just uploaded a mix for the Sphere Demixify Sessions. I accidentally sent two of the same mix only because I was about halfway through the upload process before I saw the Zip Files Only bit. Bounce the dry track with the effects on. It will be in real time obviously. You could always duplicate the dry track so if you change your mind further down the line. Or you could record it with the effects on, but you might have some latency issues there if pipeline is active.

U might be able to if u don’t use your headphones or your main monitor outputs. Try using your main output in pipeline as the send, routing the headphone output or your main output on the back of the audio box to your pedal board and then back into either input on ur audio box and select that input as the return in pipeline. It might not work the same as far as quality of the signal and u would have to be careful how u set ur volume on the audiobox itself to find the right level, but I think that could work, might not though. I cant think of any other way u could send out of Studio One and back in with an audio box.
