    I don't know why, but it always helps me to watch a video of someone talking about a plugin that I don't quite have the hang of. Studio One's Analog Delay is one such plugin. I've used it a bit to great effect, but I get the sense that there's so much more potential that I have yet to uncover. Thanks for the video, Joe!

    That delay on drums reminded me of those extended maxi singles you could buy in the 80s!

    As always - very informative and well done video, Joe! (to 11:00 ....Motor..) The Motor function simulates the ancient good old tape delay machines like the Roland and all the tape based Echoes and Delays. Because of all parts being mechanical then, there was an abrasion of the rubber capstan happening after longtime use, which transported the tape amongst the playhead(s). These units were running almost endlessly when being used for live performance or endless studio sessions. so the rubber wheel became out of round and pulled the tape unpredictionarily slower and faster depending on the contact pressure of the out of round rubber wheel. I know that sounds nerdy and scientific but that seems to be the wanted simulated effect. Sorry for that endless explanation! AND: Its a really well done simulation of that good old gear! Cheers, Walter

    Wow, this plug is so much better than expected. I just got it for free and will be using the VST3 version outside of S1. While I already have loads of delays in my plugin folder (I'm a delay hound, can't get enough of em), I can't wait to start using this puppy. I'm pleasantly surprised by how great this sounds! Thanks for the vid!

    Best & favourite ITB DAW stock "analog" delay of any & all DAWs.
    Only thing it's missing is oboard ducking - maybe with release that can be timed to the tempo & note values.
    For the next update, huh?

    Personally, I feel presonus has to have a dedicated stereo delay with customizable (L/R) delay times. This is already in logic and pro tools. The stereo delay tool is fantastic for guitars. Someone mentioned that I can achieve it by using studio one's routing panel, but I feel still a dedicated stereo delay plugin is much more convenient to have

    • @SoundcastStudios

    so close, yet not quite there. It needs a dual mode so that you can do things like dotted, or triplet and straight values at the same time. A great way to get a fake stereo feel.

    • @joshthurlow11
      @joshthurlow11 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can kinda do that if you faff on a bit cause you can route the left and right channel to individual plugins. Its annoying and should be in the plugin. Its the same with pro eq. Theres no M/S option because presonus wants you to do it in the routing page. Pro eq and analog del are easily my 2 least favourite parts of S1

    • @_Patrick_H
      @_Patrick_H 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@joshthurlow11 Routing is nice but too user-unfriendly & tucked away. Routing should have a BUS setup (like multi-instruments). Now it's unclear what plugins are affected by routing in your chain.

    Hey Joe, I'm curious how you would create a pre-delay setting with this plugin. Any ideas? This is the same reason I didn't use the original version of the analog delay. Without the ability to pass a clear signal before the delay kinks in, I think the delay tends to muddle up the dry vocal.

    • @holygeneration7
      @holygeneration7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you just insert it and use the mix knob on it, you want get great results like when you set up a send/return. You have to set the wet/dry mix totally wet and have it return in the FX channel.

  • @elijahlucian

    yo man. is there no way to just do a stereo delay. like 2 channel, but they don't ping-pong back and forth?
    the 2 channel swaps it back and forth, and it kind of f's with my stereo space.
