Want to be able to use your guitar pedals to mix?
Radial’s EXTC-Stereo Guitar Effects Interface & Reamp Box is a unique interface for connecting guitar pedals to the inputs and outputs of pro audio equipment such as recording interfaces or mixing consoles, allowing you to incorporate your pedals in new and creative ways.
The EXTC allows you to get creative with your effects pedals, using them in your mix on any recorded track. Add a touch of distortion or chorus to a lead vocal, flange on a violin, or fuzz on piano - the possibilities are endless. The EXTC takes the line level balanced output of your recording interface and converts it so an instrument level high-Z output optimized for guitar effects pedals, so you can Reamp any track through your pedalboard with ease. Once you’ve run the signal through your pedals, connect the output back into the EXTC and it will boost it up to a balanced line level so you can connect directly to the input of your recording interface.
The EXTC features Radial’s class-A buffer for the best audio quality and transformer isolation to eliminate any buzz or hum - so you can focus your attention on using your pedals in new and exciting applications.
    Some of the features include:
    - Balanced interface for guitar effects pedals
    - Separate send & receive controls optimize signal path
    - Transformer isolation helps eliminate ground loops
    - Creative tool helps your mix stand out from the rest

Great Showcase and reminder about using what equipment you've already got for other uses. I've used my line 6 hx stomp with other analogue pedals linked to it (as inserts). The great thing about the hx stomp is that you can switch the input to line level, so you can use it as an external insert. It also then gives you access to it's modelled pedals, amps and cabs, plus being able to add other analogue pedals in the chain.

YES! Since money has long been an issur for me, I've had to make do with all i have. With my old cassette 424, or later with my digital 788 (before the era of common home DAWs), and my arsenal of pedals, I textured sounds on the way in (recording) and out (mixing). I will use any pedal that gives me the sound or effect I'm looking for, beyond the obvious EQ, compressors, and reverbs. Excellent subject!

I have been doing that for a long time. Setup an FX loop using an in and an out from my soundcard (it's got 8 ins and 8 outs, RME). And then, in Reaper, I use Rea Insert - with device latency adjustment, so FX track is aligned properly with the dry track. It works perfectly, very low latency (at 64 smpls) - even when playing guitar in real time, it's not a problem. I made loads of tests, and I never had any problems with phase. (i don't know if what i'm saying is clear enough).

The plugin takes into account any latency from the pedal and automatically corrects it, and I can mix to my heart’s content. I do however like the look of that.

Yeah, I've been so much inspired when combining a simple (like almost initial) preset in Vital with TSE B.O.D bass pedal emulation, I got a super-classic Drum'n'Bass bass for free and using only one FX plugin. I highly recommend trying out guitar pedals/plugins on everything else other than guitars - this could sound amazing & unique! For example, adding heavily EQ/compressed/distorted/overdriven voice in parallel could work almost like a saturation/exciter for your vocals.
Using hardware pedals with real audio IN/OUT configuration could get tricky, but that might help a lot too. For example, as a mobile dj I've got T.C.Electronic M350 unit, some DBX stereo compressors and even an old Drive Rack PA, but this time I'd rather use plugins for saving my time. But for a dirty unique sound I could go with them too, and this is absolutely unlimited!

Interesting about 'Virtual Instruments'... I basically tend to construct my material in its basic end-to-end form in 'GarageBand'... only because I'm used to it and can put stuff together relatively quickly. Because of this I kind of always use its virtual pick bass and ramp it up a bit, I always use the virtual drums for running hi-hat and fills BUT then manually programme the kick and snare... plus I quite often just mess about with the guitars too. Stick a few plugins in there and you're rough and ready but away!! 🤓👍

I hope it would work with a headphone out. If so I would need to make sure I have monitors on which to listen back. Or I could just run it through my main outputs as I haven't any monitors at the minute. If it doesn't work with the headphone option I would need to upgrade my interface to integrate it.

I can imagine having fun with a wah pedal with this....or maybe my EHX B9 or Mel9....and also the HX Stomp seems perfect for that box. You could use its stereo EQs & compressors instead of plugins for a different sound, its new Tape Reel effect, I could go on and on but I think the Stomp is tailor made for the EXTC. So I thought I'd enter the raffle 😆
I can't get every entry because I don't do InstaSpam or Twatter 👍

Great video! With this reamp device, can you send a mono signal to the reamp and then come back in stereo? For example, if I wanted to print back in a stereo delay from a pedal?

I am new to DAW recording (using the free Studio One) and I also have an Id44. I am retired and am getting back to learning guitar. The Id44 has loop inserts on the back for channels 1&2. I inserted a fuzz pedal and it worked great for recording my guitar tracks. At this time, my only purpose for recording my guitar is to listen to my playing to improve my playing. I used to use a Yamaha MT120 4-track cassette recorder. My question is, is the Radial EXTC better than the loop back inserts on the Id44 for my situation? And why? By the way, your videos are great! Thank you!
