    I have super oily and acne prone skin but I still prefer oil or balm cleanser over micellar water. I don't think it ever had a negative impact on my skin, as long as I use unscented, gentle and soothing products, and of course avoid anything with coconut oil. I hate the feeling of rubbing a cotton pad on my face, it's irritating, while an oil/balm is just so pleasant to use.

    i've been following your videos for a while and just wanted to say how thankful i am for all the information you provide, there's not so many reliable sources on skincare and specially not so many people that talk about acne the way you do it, always keeping in mind that educational and scientific aspect. The work you do is beyond appreciated, i've learn more from you than any of the derms i've ever visited. thank you so much

    I transfer my micellar water in a foaming bottle (same as were the foaming cleanser comes) and makes it into a foam with which I clean my face. Love this method to use my micellar water as a first step when I'm only using sunscreen. For make up I do use an oil.

    I think the key to successful oil cleanser usage experience is to choose non-comedogenic one. As obvious as it sounds. It's usually a little bit more expensive than the usual ones, but the result is worth it. I use Medi-peel cleansing oil before regular foam cleanser and I like how it never dries out my skin, the face is always really soft and hydrated after it, never squeaky clean

    I use a double and a half cleanse. I use a Japanese oil cleanser, use a round soaked with micellar water to get EVERYTHING off and then follow up with Cerave’s foaming facial cleanser. That has really blasted any adult acne and helped my rosacea as well. I don’t have to scrub like crazy and can soak, set and swipe like you mention

    As someone who wears eye makeup daily, and is beyond oily;
    I find a micellar water as a step one to a double cleanse really does just as great of a job as an oil cleanse, but without the slippy leftovers. 🥰

    I’ve started double cleansing because of course, people on Instagram bragged about it,saying it made their skin beauuuutifuuul and rid off all the « nasties » on their skin (like blackheads, sebaceous filaments, oil, pimples, etc). I was struggling with hormonal acne, I believed them and especially because all of the skinfluencers insist on the SPF part, and they say that if you don’t remove it correctly, then you get pimples. And last summer, I used La Roche Posay sunscreen and my skin broke out because I only had Caudalie cleansing milk. So I bought the Bioderma Créaline oil and goooooooosh my skin got the worst acne EVER! At 31yo I had so so so soooo many breakouts. My jaws were full or them, shin, jawline, it hurt so much. Now my face is full of scars 😭 looking back at photos my skin wasn’t so bad yet I find it not so good, but now 😭😭😭😭😭
    And now I have to use sunscreen to keep the scars away of my face but if I cannot remove the spf, I will also get pimples. I hope I will find a good cleansing routine 😢

    I used to be one of those who was terrified of moisturizers and hydration because of my acne... until I started educating myself and realized I didn't technically have acne like I had when I was a teenager, just a super irritated damaged skin barrier and the very occasional breakout (most probably due to my damaged skin barrier, right?).The routine I have now is quite simple yet complete: CeraVe cream to foam hydrating cleanser, then the salicylic cleanser from the Inkey List, then a Hydraphase serum from la Roche Posay, snail mucin essence from Cosrx and CeraVe night facial moistirizer to finish (full of ceramides). I take the time for each step to soak into my skin before the next product. That's my night routine; in the morning, I rinse my face with lukewarm water, apply CeraVe daytime moisturizer with spf, currently looking for a light mineral sunscreen that won't have any effect on my makeup application and will moisturize my skin.

    On days I‘m wearing make up, I use a micellar water to remove my mascara, then I use the oat cleansing balm from inkey and as the final step I use a very simple and affordable water based cleanser from the drugstore, that one also has salicylic acid to help with the blackheads around my nose 😊

    I'm actually using a micellar water (the bioderma one) as a second step in my double cleansing routine (James Welsh said in one of his vids that you can do this if you are sensitive to water). I'm acné prone with combo skin. In the past I've used an oil cleanser + a very gentle cream cleanser and my face would still feel really, really tight. Now I use an oil cleanser + a micellar water and my face definitely feels less tight than before. My breakouts haven't gotten any worse because of this routine so I'm fine for now, but I still want to find the ideal combo of an oil + cream cleanser to tackle the tightness. If anyone has experiences with this problem, please feel free to share.

    I thought for the past 3-4 years that I had Rosacea and fungal acne. Turns out besides having very sensitive skin, that I have diabetic skin (type 2), and vitamin D deficiency which not only causes havoc on skin, hair and nails, I also got thin nails and Alopecia (stress), due to trauma (bullying and abuse), but also has overlapping symptoms and triggers similar to that if Rosacea. Even harder than Rosacea and fungal acne as products meant for those skin conditions breaks me out as well. Both Squalane and MTC (coconut oil) oil breaks me the fuck out, yet I used those for years until I understood it was those that destroyed my skin. Niacinamide, vitamin C and its derivatives, green tea, HA, AHA/BHA, Retinol, snail, propolis, oats, grape seed oil, olive oil, sunflower oil, jojoba oil, merula, rosehip, castor, argan and almond oils, same result. Park Shea butter also too occlusive, and same with Parafinum Liquidum/vaselin petrolatum. Found out in MUA school that I’m allergic to mineral makeup. I also got various food allergies, and intolerances as well as severe grass allergy to add to the mix which causes cross allergic reactions. Tried this duo, different brands, and broke me out as usual. Only use Cerave Hydrating Cleansers, all other Cerave products break me out too. Wish I could oil cleanse tho, but doesn’t work for me. Ironically growing up in the 90’s and 2000’s I never used any skincare products whatsoever never cleansed, moisturized or even sunscreen and I didn’t have problem skin or acne. Not even during puberty… uncontrolled diabetes, and high insulin levels causes acne, so therefore any oils will only make it worse.

  • @cristinbuskard9250

    Cheap version of this - Ponds Cold Cream to remove makeup and dirt (a neutrogenia wipe to wipe the Ponds off if you have heavy makeup on), then Neutrogenia salycilic acid facial cleanser to get that foamy clean feeling (and to kill the acne), then a 5% benzoyl peroxide cream left on. When my face is feeling dry and I haven’t worn makeup, I flip it. Cleanse the acne first with salicylic acid face wash and then cold cream that gets rinsed off so it doesn’t feel like a heavy moisturizer. Then benzoyl peroxide 5%. If I still feel dry the only thing I haven’t found an inexpensive substitute for is a non acne causing moisturizer. I find a travel size or sample size of a Sephora moisturizer like Laneige or Tatchi works to get me through a winter when this routine doesn’t cut it.
    These products look interesting though! I will have to give them a shot! 😅

    So, the lesson of this video is - do not follow advice from influencers. It does not even have to be out of malice, because most of the time it's just pure ignorance. And most products are overpriced. Except for retinol, vitamin C, moisturizer, and sun screen most products just take your money and don't give you anything back. The beauty industry tries to sell people new products to make money. Cassandra presents soo many products in every video, but it's doubtful that she is able to use every single on of them. So, whats the purpose of showing these products? It only makes women go and buy this stuffd. Then the next video with the next products come. And so it goes on... It so makes no sense to switch products all the time. You won't be able to tell if a cream is good long-term if you switch your stuff every week. And no, you can't see a reduction of wrinkles or hyperpigmentation after applying it once. It is pure stupidity to claim such things (yes, Cassandra does not claim these things, but people in search of the holy grail of creams often do).

    • @devenrudder4110
      @devenrudder4110 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, the lesson of the video is to follow up and do your own research in conjunction with what info she is presenting. She "promotes" products loosely, but gives a wide variety of economically friendly options for a variety of skin conditions and skin types. She tries different products periodically for video reviews, but she does have a main line of product routine that she personally uses for her skin type. She's arguably one of the most knowledgeable skin gurus out there, breaks down ingredients, and supplies scientific journals in a lot of her videos.
      She incorporates new products, but there are several she consistently talks about.

      I used to use Cerave or Spectro Gel and didn’t realize for years that it wasn’t taking off my sunscreen or my long wear acne covering makeup. I will still use Spectro Gel on a day where maybe I’m just home all day or in the morning because I took my makeup off the night before. I swear by Ponds cold cream - there is a reason all the old ladies and so many drag queens use it. It takes off heavy makeup and oils. I use that with a makeup wipe to wipe off the makeup / cold cream (which definitely has the stuff to break down makeup) then I will either use a benzoyl peroxide acne wash or a salycilic acid face wash (neutrogena). Then I always use a 5% benzoyl peroxide cream. (Big difference -2.5% is not strong enough for me) I have had hormonal cystic acne my entire life that even Accutaine didn’t fully get rid of but this system works for me. If I’m feeling dry I will apply and rinse the cold cream again after the acne face wash. As this make me feel like I have a moisturizer barrier without feeling like oily ness is sitting on my skin.

      When you’re at the store the Ponds will be on the bottom shelf for $10 or less. Because they don’t need to advertise their shelf position at eye level, they don’t need to charge a lot because if you know you know and you use it. The formula is from 1907. 1907! Sometimes older is better and we don’t realize because everyone is marketing their new stuff. Although I’ve used $80 tatcha oil cleanser and yes it is also luxurious fabulous stuff too. You just can’t beat Pond’s price.

    I have struggled with acne for almost 20 years. Went on accutane in 2015 and it worked great until about 2019 when I started breaking out again.
    I switched to oil cleansing about 4 months ago and have NEVER had better looking skin. Coconut oil does make my skin worse so avoid it like the plague. But the Dirty Lamb cleansing oil is pure MAGIC for my skin.
    For so long I dried it out scared of any kind of moisture even though I wanted so badly to moisturize.
    Also discovered the peels from dr Dennis gross and love them a few times a week.

    What is a good alternative to sulfur? I'm very much allergic 🥲 so I know I must avoid it in any skincare as well as medication 👌
