This was a lot of info for a beginner. A simple drug store routine for a person without major specific concerns could be: 1) CLEANSE: Gentle drugstore brand cleanser (CeraVe, Cetaphil, Neutrogena etc). If you have acne, then use a cleanser with benzoyl peroxide. 2) TREATMENT: (depending on skin condition or concern): retinoid, vitamin C, etc. 3) PROTECT: sunscreen during the day and a simple drugstore moisturizer at night. For acne, a salicylic acid moisturizer can be used.
The only absolutely necessary products are a gentle cleanser suitable for your skin type, a moisturizer (if you need to moisturize), and an SPF 30 (minimum) sunscreen. Masks, serums, toners, and specialty treatment products aren't, strictly speaking, necessary. Re moisturizer, it's been a long time since I had oily skin. (I took Accutane and now have very dry skin.) I don't remember ever moisturizing then. However, I'd think that those with oily skin may need to moisturize around the eyes, or maybe in the winter.
I’ve been using a new Salicylic Acid toner in my nighttime routine and it’s been breaking me out, but I’m patient to see the results from it It’s so worth it just waiting for results the benefits from Salicylic Acid are endless
Make sure you are not over exfoliating! I had a breakout on my chin so I used a salicylic acid toner on it everyday for a week, and it became irritated and stayed longer.
I saw the Isntree hyaluronic acid spf in one of your videos a few months back so I decided to save some money to buy it. When it finally arrived 2 days ago I was so excited to try it for the first so I washed my face like I normally do. But when I finally applied the sunscreen on my face I began to feel extremely itchy. When I looked in the mirror I saw my face burning red, swollen and the itchiness was unbearable 😢 specially around my cheekbones area. I removed it immediately using warm water and fortunately my skin was undamaged. Now I'm sad because 1 I really thought this product would improve my skin like no other and 2 because it was very expensive so now I don't know what to do... I should've stick to my Nivea kids SPF 50+ cream haha, even though it leaves a little bit of white residue on my face it has never EVER given me a bad reaction unlike the isntree hyaluronic acid water gel... damn 😂😢
Isntree hyaluronic acid worked amazingly for me. Although I did experience slight itching feeling on my side cheekbone area sometimes. I thought it was due to not using moisturiser underneath.
If you are just starting out, just use Dove bar soap with or without a washcloth. I did this for 10 to 15 years when I was in my 20's and early 30's. Then concentrate on the rest after that.
My problem with spf’s is that two-finger-long-rule. Somethimes I’ve even heard about three fingers long. Which is a whole lotta sunscreen, and that a couple of times a day. It gets really expensive to use sunscreen everyday.
I relate, but at the moment I don't have Cetaphil available so I gotta go with Avene Trixera/Xeracalm line, La Roche Posay Lipikar line, Bioderma Atoderm line, and Cerave Moisturizing cream, especially since even Body Shop is gone and I no longer have accesd to their Aloe line. But they have been importing Paula's Choice body care line, which aren't as expensive as the facial care products and are also vegan and cruelty free which Cass loves to promote and I have been brainwashed to somewhat value. I am still on the hunt for less expensive brands and products for my dry ass and acne prone skin though.
I am also plagued by eczema 😂 I've finally gotten my go-to, basic skincare routine for night to a point where the eczema on my face is under control! I go with Pacifica vegan ceramide cleanser, pyunkang yul toner (Cass raves about this one), the inkey list ceramide night treatment, Paula's choice clinical line moisturiser. The Paula's choice moisturiser has been the most beneficial part of this routine for me and is worth every penny imo. I do sometimes add in the Pacifica vegan ceramide barrier cream or the wake up beautiful mask for an extra layer of moisture/defence if I feel like my skin is feeling on the dry side, too. I'm still working on the eczema on my hands/body (because i have adhd and consistency is hard), but I find that the ceramedix creams help heaps and, oat baths!

Hi! Have you or can you review the Think Dirty and other apps for toxic ingredients in cosmetics/skin care. I have heard about them from people and wonder how realistic they are.
Among the sunscreens Cassandra recommended in the video, the Beauty of Joseon and Isntree products are more reasonably priced. Cassandra also has a "Short" about inexpensive sunscreens.

Typically derms say reapply every 2~3 hours, but that is under the condition that you are active outdoors. If you aren't outdoors, you don't need to reapply as often.
The newer generation filters needn't be applied as often as they are less degrading in sunlight. Only after sweating/swimming. But the rule of thumb is 2-3 hours.
Also please at some point recommend us sunscreen that are safe in the Oceans and lakes (so in water) and some that come in bigger bottle so we can protect more parts of our bodies than our face.
There are no "safe sunscreens" the test that showed chemical sunscreens harmed coral reef, didn't tell you that physical (aka zinc) sunscreens bleached coral even more. See Lab Muffin beauty Science's video for detail. And stop listening to all the nonsense out there, please 😁💗🦋💗🦋
Technically speaking all sunscreens would be harming the ocean at least to some degree. Even zinc oxide and that one is said to be the safest by government who make these sunscreen policies.
Sorry but it's not really beginner friendly if it's that expensive. I was trying to educate my gf on skincare and she was like I'm not spending over £10 on one thing. For most people - this isn't even intermediate friendly.
Love the idea of the video, but Cass, you really should have used more products that are more acessible and familiar to people as examples. Most beginners won't be trying out the products you have mentioned until they get some kind a grasp of skincare, unless there is literally someone to hold their hand and guide them through the store. Yes, I know the vast majority of the brands there aren't vegan and/or cruelty free, but you could have tried them and mentioned them at the least is what I am saying. Edit what I meant is that I think she should have mentioned vegan and cruelty free products from the drugstore and has a wider reach and is more readily accessible to people. Like Sun Bum, Alba Botanica, Derma E, etc. A lot of the products she mentions in the video is on the niche side for Americans tbh.
It would also be great if such a routine was made for Europe...I understand that's not where you are based, but for many people on your channel it's almost impossible to get most of the products ( unless it's the ordinary and yesstyle, stylevana). Sorry to hear you're having difficulty with that website, I've heard from others that there is no true customer service with that company. I had no issue with my first stylevana order a couple months ago but I used a credit card. When I tried to place an order using a debit card last week it wasn't accepted and I had to order my product from yesstyle (which charges an additional fee). 😧😞
What are your thoughts on Face Theory products? I actually started using their products in february and recently people have complimented on how 'fresh' i look. My mum has even started using my products because my skin is looking clearer and even. I went for the simple routine and its literally 3 items, vitamin c cleansing whip cleanser, centra smooth serum and aventura moisturiser. I do want to try their sunscreen but it is forever sold out 😔 so trying spf50 altruist sunscreen at the moment so i hope they play well together

Have you reviewed OFFON Korean body acne care? It’s vegan and looks promising.
There’s a video where she shares what to use on days when not using the Paula’s choice bha exfoliant. Can someone please send me the link??

I know your skin type is oily/acne prone, but I would love some recommendations for dry skin because I am struggling :(
Can you suggest something for PCOS because waxing is really harsh for my skin but I don't know what else to do
I wonder if lab muffin made a video for that
Cassandra recently made a video about using IPL devices for hair removal if you want to check that out.
Thnq❤❤
Can i use charcoal soup as a cleanser?
Cassandra also has a "Short" about inexpensive sunscreens.
i just use face scrub & body cream, am i doing it wrong

How do i get added to the discord??
How often should we reapply sunscreen
Typically derms say reapply every 2~3 hours, but that is under the condition that you are active outdoors. If you aren't outdoors, you don't need to reapply as often.
The newer generation filters needn't be applied as often as they are less degrading in sunlight. Only after sweating/swimming. But the rule of thumb is 2-3 hours.
“Donut hole” now I like that! 😂
Can you make a video for maybe an intermediate level lol. Just one notch above beginner
Cassandra have you stopped endorsing and using agency?
She posted a video with their products... yesterday, maybe? I know it's been recently, for sure!
10:15 Um, am I the only person who doesn't know what the "stressed skin" is? Is this an evidence-based skin condition?
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Sorry but it's not really beginner friendly if it's that expensive. I was trying to educate my gf on skincare and she was like I'm not spending over £10 on one thing. For most people - this isn't even intermediate friendly.
i have to agree
100% agree. I just listen to ingredients she recommends, and then look for local alternatives (and I didn't pay more than 8$ per product yet).
Actually Cassandra, its called snowflakes. 😂😂😂 Its the healthcare joke one 😂😂
I love your content but the vocal fry drives me crazy sadly
$22 IS expensive cassandra im sorry but we live in a cost of living crisis. Im looking for something £5 yk
You get what you pay for
@@emberdiosanot always funnily enough
@@msk-qp6fn of course not always. The majority of the time though, yes.
I get what your saying but she wouldn't try or promote what she is against type of thing. She mentions the practice what you preach thing.
I loved the old Cassandra more. This Cassandra is like a telemarketer, sorry Cassandra. Still love you, but too many advertisements..🥲
