Very awesome tutorial I've always loved the fancier quilt like this but didn't think I could do them. Your tutorial made it seem so much easier and I'm willing to try and to learn something new! Thank you both!!

Thank you for the comments! We are so glad you enjoyed it. You could always start out with a pillow cover to test the technique and practice before you moved on the the whole quilt.

If you had put the X in each of the 4 quadrants I could also use it easily for smaller blocks.
It would make it more cost effective for me. That's a big square and not many blocks I make are that big

You can purchase the Sew Cherry 2 fabric collection along with the Pie Ruler and the Fruit Salad templates (all by Lori Holt of A Bee in my Bonnet) online. A Google search for the fabric line and notions will show you the online retailers. Fabric.com, Fat Quarter Shop and Missouri Star Quilting all carry these items. Thanks for asking!

I like her fabrics (although not so much this collection) but if I'd watched her doing a tutorial when I first got into quilting I might not have been as interested. Some of her tips are a bit excessive. I know as a longtime home decor and garment sewer (where the sewing is more complicated than just a straight quarter inch seam) that some of her steps aren't necessary as the fabric will accommodate a lot more than she gives it credit for. The key is to remember that people have their own ways of doing things but there is more than just one way to make a quilt like this. Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company has lots of Dresden quilt tutorials which are better and more useful for most quilters.
