Madurai airport: Land acquisition and hand over delayed by the state government for more than a decade. Even one time around 9pm the CBSF officers locked the airport with the passengers and crew inside and left. Refuse to operate the airport 24/7 and keeping it as custom airport. Failed to include in bilateral agreements.
Though I was born & raised in India, I spent 50% of life living outside India. As a matter of fact pretty much all my adult life outside India. Here's my outsider perspective, an outsider who genuinely want India to better itself. The biggest problem in India is how the people in power can easily twist the narrative & make the entire population just toe their line. Indian politicians have mastered the art of controlling our population just like herd of sheep. For e.g. in relation to this topic, the Govt or for anyone with vested interest can easily twist the fact & say that your video which advocates for reduction of taxes on ATF & suggestion to make aviation cheaper as a propaganda to help the rich & wealthy. Whereas the Govt wants to tax more for air transport related services & give that money to poor people's education, health, etc. Then, most of us will simply agree without even realizing the truth. If a such video is created & spread in the only knowledge source for most of us called "WhatsApp University," then most of us will even start calling you "Anti-National".

transportation leading to an airport is very important.. many indian airports fail in this area..it is used not only by the passangers but also the staff working in and around the airport..
Bangalore and Hyderabad airports are also at more distance from the city. So I don't accept your point on Parandur airport. Proper lands cannot be acquired if airport is within city or on outskirts. If metro connectivity is there everything will be ok
I respect your opinion but as far as I know, people are having, hard time reaching Bangalore airport as well. Distance won't matter if proper connectivity is provided. you maybe right about land acquirement but still, Parandur airport is far away from Chennai (more like Kanchipuram airport), could have chosen better location than Parandur imo. The metro connectivity is good option, but for long term, only the metro cannot suffice for transportation requirements (unless 2 or 3< lines connecting the airport). We require different modes of transport serving all sorts of passengers & focusing on different neighborhoods.
You need connectivity. Dont compare with Bangalore and Hyderabad compare with Amsterdam's Schipol, Tokyo's Narita and Malaysia 's KLIA. The further an airport is from the city center, the more connectivity options it needs. You definitely need airport rail link. But airport rail links are risky. I read somewjere that airport rail link operators are link operators are running at a loss. Especially those that provide point 2 point connection only. Point 2 point connection means the rail link connects just the airport and a station in the city, no stops in between. One way to avoid losses would be build one or two stations in between and run a service that stops at those stations too in addition to the service that connects just the airport and a station in the city. You can run a Metro line to the airport but in most cities in the world, 40 kms is the entire length of a metro line ! It quite uncommon to run a Metro line that stretches 40 km just to connect 2 stations. But whatever the option that is taken, the station at the airport must be within the terminal building. Schipol's airport rail station and KLIA's is under the terminal building . KLIA has departure and arrivals at 2 different levels. The train station is underground, people getting of the train can go to the departure and arrival via a lift. That is just for railway. It wont be enough, there should also be a mini bus terminal attsched to the terminal building. You need to do all this to keep passenger experience pleasant. Or else, your airport will be a white elephant as ut wont atrract flyers.
@@thephantasy22 May be for Parandur Airport they should consider some sort of high speed metro then usual one to reduce connectivity travel time and I don't like why they compromise the design in Trichy airport. If fund is the issue, I hope they will address it with time with some kind of private partnership.
My worry is that this should not become like Sriperumbudur. In 2007-08 SPudur was touted and promoted like anything as the location for a new airport. Several projects started for plots, flats etc. Then nothing happened after 2011-12. I heard some people had huge lands, did a trick to hike the price, sold and vanished. I am also a victim--bought a small 1500 sq.ft plot and by 2014-15 it came down to half the price and now I can't even locate it and price may be around 5-10% of what I paid--that is, if somebody wants to buy. My question is - There are 4 tracks from Central to Arakkonam. 4 and then 3 tracks to Chengalpat. Triple and a double track towards Ponneri. Why does someone find a land that is exactly half way between Chengalpt and Arakkonam where absolutley no NH or SH exists leave alone trains. In Bangalore the same thing happened. Once the airport comes up there will be road lobbies that will delay laying of new tracks. The IT crowd in Bangalore is forced to (and they can well afford it) using taxies, burning carbon spoiling, environment. At any time there are about 3000 taxis inside and around the B'lore airport. Nothing can mass-transport like trains. Run a small track from Chengalpat or Ponneri (Arakkonam may not be possible due to the Naval airport) stations and it will be great for all people from North, South and West in Madras. take an EMU or Metro, switch in Beach or Central and hop into the airport train. But they did not do it in B'lore, nor in H'bad. So they will not in Madras also.
1.Chennai airport flight parking fees much higher ...state gov addressed this issue into central government & aai but they not ready to reduce the fees. 2.meenambakkam airport runway constructed with a bridge for adayar River.mansoon season heavy water flow of river is affecting the runway... 3.currently treminal expension work is going but this can handle pax max 3 cr only ..the expension also limited due to non availability of land. Coimbatore airport issue is not only runway expension...because of current runway can handle airbus a320 like flights (covai to sharjah flight service).... Peoples point of view Madurai airport is international airport..but real thing is act like custom airport....state gov asking staff arrangements for night duty along with crpf...central say 'crpf not available' like this the real think is thiruchy airport having more potential for chennai & south Asia services like Singapore and Malaysia but they have more flight services because of the services are not availabe in madurai.... Thuthukudi airport now doing expension work runway and terminals...( tamilnadu 2nd large runway under construction) iam sure this airport will get 2nd place in tamilnadu because of on going industries demand & new heavy investments after chennai...around 1.5lakhs core investment happening in this port city..... Why should Kanyakumari have a airport.Trivandrum airport is just under 20km away from kanyakumari dist.Rather than airport should invest other infrastructure projects.
90 km distance .....it won't help kanyakumari tourism....and kudankulam power plant also near by kanyakumari..now this power plant is extending..... The cost of travel from Chennai to Mumbai Economy class is 6k while cost of flying to Singapore Chennai is still 6k to 10 k approx
Enga bro, we aviation enthusiasts are keep on shouting in twitter tagging AAI and every other officials regarding Chennai airport falling behind drastically like stock market but all AAI is doing is conducting Kolam competition, Pink October festivals in airport instead of running it efficiently, we have lost so many airlines in recent times because of slot constrains, we all feel Parandur is the only hope for Chennai and it should be privatised from the start. Honestly it is very shaming to know that one of the big and metro city of India does not have an airport which can handle A380 Jumbos. I read in a report as Korean Air, Qantas are showing interest from Chennai but I highly expect AAI will let those opportunities slip through their fingers. We even had ANA connecting Chennai which was very useful for people travelling to Japan as well as the west coast of USA but only god knows why they have not resumed this route even after covid.
Instead of pushing new international airport in hosur government should focus on expansion of salem airport it has more potential after Indigo airlines day services number of bookings are actually increased then before if Salem airport upgrade to international standards it will be helpfull for north West tamilnadu people's
Sir, Kindly put some lime light on the Never-Ending construction of the Vellore Airport. At least Vella kaaran kuda enga oora mathichi Airport run pannitirunthaan.
Geography also plays a role in Chennai airport being the 5th busiest in India Hyderabad is a a bit up north as compared to both Bangalore and Chennai, as it makes more sense for logistics/movers to ship to Hyderabad. Also Hyderabad airport has a much bigger catchment area, as there are not many cities around. A lot of regional flights (especially Udaan flights) are short haul ATR ones, and they have a stop at Hyd, as flying long distance does not make economic sense for Udaan operators. BLR and HYD have seen massive growth in ppl inflow as well, more for BLR Tamil Nadu has many cities with good industrial base which alleviates some pressure of Chennai.
Government doesn't know how to use the land classic example maintaining bus stand simply constructing new bus stand in outer, other district and bus maintenance still there are in 1980
We have to produce before we can fly - the most energy inefficient way of using energy: We should use more train which use minimum amount of energy to transport
but i cant afford for my weekly travel from trichy to chennai on weekends, according to me its useless i would be happy if some new trains like rockfort exp is launched ticket fare is 260 and duration is similar too VB exp.

YOUR OPININIAN I AGREE WITH THAT BUT WHAT ABOUT POEPOLE LIVING FAR?
Great video

Hello sir,

When Praful Patel wanted to privatise Chennai airport along with Bengaluru and Hyderabad ,both Karunanidhi and Ramadoss opposed it tooth and nail.Chennai went down and Hyderabad went up.Dravidia contribution!
Selling it to cronies for free is privatization. Delhi should just give some money it steals from the 70% without proiding any public goods. They also facilitate their own people gujjus and marwadis steal from banks and escape. So, tonoffset the banks write off, to write off they print more money when they print more money, it causes inflation which is your money is of less value than before. That is also stealing the money of people who save.
We could clearly see Modi's contribution in the quality of Trichy airport that he recently inaugurated.

Considering cost of fuel price the ticket cost is cheaper. This is exception for indigo flights. They are monopoly in the domestic segment, the price which they set are too high.

Geography also plays a role in Chennai airport being the 5th busiest in India
Hyderabad is a a bit up north as compared to both Bangalore and Chennai, as it makes more sense for logistics/movers to ship to Hyderabad.
Also Hyderabad airport has a much bigger catchment area, as there are not many cities around.
A lot of regional flights (especially Udaan flights) are short haul ATR ones, and they have a stop at Hyd, as flying long distance does not make economic sense for Udaan operators.
BLR and HYD have seen massive growth in ppl inflow as well, more for BLR
Tamil Nadu has many cities with good industrial base which alleviates some pressure of Chennai.
Just one reason, Bangalore airport took all the traffic. I use to fly US from Chennai now it is way costlier and the frequencies are very less.
chennai to banglore flight fare is usually around 1200 only
