When my kids were young, we rescued a Border Collie - Oreo - She was so smart, easy to train, and an incredibly loyal dog. This ruff tuff cream puff is beautiful !! I have so much respect for you Rocky, and I’m proud to be a member !!

Kona is with me watching and knows how these cattle dogs feel sad in the shelter, as Kona did as well. We wish he finds his new person soon and the love he deserves. 🐶❤

Border collies are bred to work and that gives them joy.
Being locked up in a kennel like that, listening to the other dogs crying and barking without any companionship for 4 days is truly torture for a border collie.
And if you leave them to figure out their own work as a couple of mine have, they teach themselves to operate the ice maker on the front of the fridge when they want ice cubes, open the other dogs crate door latches when they think it’s time to let them out (He let the dogs out! :) ), open the lever door knobs unless you remember to lock them, etc. (mine’s not yet learned how to operate the outside door bolt locks). Their intelligence is amazing and entertaining, but yes, you have to give them meaningful outlets for their great intelligence. They are absolutely amazing and wonderful family members if you can give them what they also need and deserve.
The moment you started petting his head and said that's what he was wanting the whole time, I burst out crying out of compassion for this sweet boy. I'm not even a crier but I'm always getting choked up watching your videos. Zeus is so beautiful and a very good boy! I hope his forever parents find him very quickly!

My collie was in such pain, the vet said putting her down was the only humane thing to do for her. It broke my heart into a million pieces. I miss my girl Lucy so much. I wanted to selfish and
keep her alive. But I couldn’t she has been gone since 2018same year I lost my mother 😢. I wish I had gotten a rescue the same year my dog passed away but I was too distressed to . I was in too much pain but now I’ve gotten too old. I think I’m 72 and I’m not a young 72. I just had a echocardiogram for my heart so I wasn’t ready for that. 😫😭😢😢😰please rescue when possible ❣️❣️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻😇

When I was young I had Border Collies. They are so wonderful and loyal. Now I'm old I don't have the energy to keep one proper. Being in a shelter would be so hard for him,

I really love this breed so smart and ready to work the farm . I dont have a farm for a Border Collie , so I'd never get one . I live in an apt for now in life . This beautiful sweet dog needs a family with farm with alot of land . I pray he gets a family.

@@pamelaadam9207 I beg to differ. It takes a special case, but look up the parkour dog. The guy who owns it is an influencer, who does parkour stuff with his dog full time, so if he wasn't, the dog might have a lot of downtime because cities are usually where office jobs happen, but definitely check it out. Storror did a video with them.
Beautiful Border Collie. They're highly intelligent, easy to train and wonderfully loyal. My late husband and I raised AIBC registered Border Collies out of Grand International Champs for many years.
Friends of ours just lost their border collie a few days ago 😢 She was 16 1/2 and not a huge people dog but since my husband and I had known her since she was a puppy we were her people!!

He is very brave. And, obviously, he realizes that you are not going to harm him. Boy, does he look much calmer! All of my dogs have been shelter rescues and amazing fur babies. I will be praying that Zeus gets quickly adopted by the best forever family 😊😅❤❤

I had a Border Collie who lived for 14 years and one week. S he e had a lot of anxiety and trust issues.
She herded little kids in her early years, and birds and ducks.
She also herded UPS/FEDEX TRUCKS. SHE HATED GOING ON WALKS. SHE WAS SCARED OF EVERYTHING! We got her as a very young pup, from a back yard breeder!! But we ❤ed her! SO MUCH !
And miss her terribly! She was a Red/White Border Collie who lived and she was beautiful!

I learn so much from you about dogs. I can't wait to retire and rescue a shelter dog and also volunteer.
I had Border Collies for 40 years. They are great dogs. Very loyal to their person and hard workers. Always willing to put forth 100%. They do tend to be a little reserved and skittish but very intelligent. I love them so very much. However over the years my arthritis has made it hard to have them. I cant keep up with them anymore. Hope this fellow finds a home with people who understand the breed and have the energy to keep up with them.
I have a Border Collie/Australian Shepard mix, her name is Holly. She is smart, silly and extremely loving. They just like to be around you, alllllllll the time. He is beautiful and needs lots of love and playing.

In the past 20 years, I've been owned by 11 border collies. They are AMAZING dogs!! AMAZING! They CAN be lap dogs. They can be anything you want them to be. They just want to be WITH you. I hope you find someone worthy of having this beautiful guy in their life, PS. BC's love TUG TOYS!!!
I would have taken that blinking as an attempt to try to keep their eyes open because when I run into that it was because the dog had been so stressed out they hadn't slept
That‘s what I thought, too. But he didn‘t sleep, because he is so stressed out! So Rocky helps him to calm down and feel safe.

I am so sorry for your loss, Theresa. Some people just don't understand that dogs have feelings just like us and if they get stressed or triggered, they can lash out. I hope that Rocky naming this beautiful boy after your Zeus gives you a bit of comfort. That plaque that the new owners can have will keep his memory alive with them as it will be with all of us. ❤
The last dog my family had was a Border Collie - Amiga. She was the sweetest dog who ever lived. She was also smarter than most humans and was instantly able to learn anything I could teach her. (Assume a Border Collie understands every word you say, because they do.) I would love to have a dog like this one.
Smarter than most humans? Could it read, write, count? Did it invent a phone, a car, a bicycle? Did it give you food and home or open the door for you?

We once had a Border Collie mix..... and he was the smartest dog, I've ever had. He was amazing with the tricks, sooooo trainable ..... and, he was an escape artist...... Always would find a way out of the back yard. I went upstairs and watched him, out of the window..... He crawled to get up over the wall..... Unbelievable!

I lost my border collie of 15 1/2 years two years ago on September 19 not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about him since his passing I am 66 years old and I live alone I can’t even begin to describe the joy and the happiness and the companionship that he brought me for over 15 years and now just seeing this dog Zeus on your video has for the first time let me know that it’s time to consider getting another one it’s amazingThat dog Zeus is marked exactly like my border collie was I live in North Alabama and wish I was close enough to come and adopt that dog because I would in a heartbeat and give him a great home in the country and the love and CompanionshipThat he so Deserves
rbking - If you really want Zeus, I would call and see if they would be willing to help get him to you for adoption. The worse they can say is No. The best is Yes..... and you would have this wonderful dog for several years. Just a suggestion.
I know there are people who would volunteer to form a caravan to get this dog to you.
I did it one time to drive a dog to western Washington cause he was adopted from my area.
I’m sorry for your loss. It’s always so hard to lose our beloved pets. Thank you for thinking of adopting another border collie - maybe even Zeus from the video. I helped with a volunteer pet adoption transport network once. I don’t know if Animal Friends of the Valleys would work with one, but it’s a cool way to help adopted pets get to their new homes and families when they are far apart! ❤️🐾❤️
My prayer team and youth group leaders all call me mama bear. I feel so much love for the dogs and for you. I see how your heart breaks for the pups. Love all that you and your family and team do for these precious four leggers.

I had a boarder collie, she was so smart, loyal and well behaved❣️She was pregnant when I adopted her, the shelter didn’t know. She gave birth to 5 adorable puppies, who were all adopted by family and friends. They all had long, full, happy lives!

I have owned border collies. They are loyal intelligent dogs. I bought one from a farmer and she was fiercely loyal but to loyal as she would not allow anyone near her mistress . I am upset a collie should be in this position. They are so focused . I found my collies very affectionate and loving .

I had a border collie once. I lived on a large ranch. He was the smartest dog. He was so sweet. His name was Max but I also called him Bullet cuz he was so speedy when he ran. He could go from zero to sixty in two seconds as it were. But his brakes didn’t work so well, so sometimes he’d run into you. lol We had chickens and he loved to herd them. That was his natural instinct. Dogs like him need space to run like a crazy lunatic. He loved to chase his ball. And he loved to walk with me on the 5 acre ranch unleashed so he could run with he way border collies need to. He seems like a really good dog. Where I live, in a tiny trailer in a park, would be terrible for a border collie. So I have a cat now who is a rescue and has zero interest in going outside. Perfect for where I live. On the ranch we had a cat too. But the cat was more interested in chasing rats and rabbits but he enjoyed a scratch or two. But Max was my buddy. He was so smart. I trained him not only with words but with hand signals. He loved learning new things and performing in what he learned. Border collies are so pretty too. I hope he finds the right home soon. Zeus certainly deserves it.

Beautiful dog! Can't believe he's in a shelter! I have two. Casper and Freya. Best dogs I've ever had! They keep watch over our chickens and our rabbits. So smart. And Casper loves to watch other Border Collies herding cows, on TH-cam! His parents were both cattle dogs, on a dairy farm. They are both so loving, and hard working!

The best dog we've had was a lab border collie. Troi was a trip. She would smile if she messed with the garbage . We'd say 'What Troi, show me?" And she would. Troi was an empath & would know who needed her. In 6 months, my son & I will be looking for a dog, as we will be settled in our new home. Rescued dogs are the only way to go.

Rocky, you underestimate yourself. "Don't give them to me 'cause I'm not worth it." Oh yes you are my friend! If it weren't for you starting this, we would never get to see these dog's go into a forever home or a rescue facility. As much as I would love to have each and every dog you show, I have my hands and heart full with taking care of my own Little Rescues that live and love me. ❤

We have been involved in BC rescue for 15 years. We try to work with shelters and get them directed straight into a foster-based rescue. They are hard wired to control chaos. They shut down very quickly in a shelter environment where they cannot control the craziness.

He is sad! Border collies bond to their humans so strongly, but he is young. I think his sadness is a reflection of the depth of his connection to the human who had him.
Border Collie's live to be given a purpose. He is a beautiful boy.
Border collies are amazing. They need to be active and have purpose. People buy these wonderful dogs because they are so pretty. Yet have no idea about the dog’s energy and needs. Collies without purpose get depressed!
I think them being rated as the top 1 or 2 most intelligent dog breeds attracts people who think they want a smart dog without realizing that now, besides just exercising, the dog ALSO requires mental stimulation and people find themselves overwhelmed with a dog that's "misbehaving".
That's probably (along with not having dogs spayed and neutered) a major reason why there are so many dogs in shelters - irresponsible people buy a dog because they want a toy/security blanket/their children are whining for the dog not thinking about the needs of the breed of dog, the general responsibility of owning a pet. Dogs are sentient beings with their own mental and emotional needs just like us.

Border Collies are amazing dogs. Both as working/herding dogs, and as agility dogs. Some of the top agility dogs are BC. I had a BC/Spaniel mix and a BC/Spitz? mix. One from a shelter, and the other found dumped on the street. They were wonderful. I hope Zeus finds a great home where he can feel safe and loved.
We had an almost all black one named Comet. They are super smart. They have more energy than i have ever seen in a dog. I cant even imagine confining one for long. Hope he gets adopted soon by the right family.

I lived with my grandparents on their farm and their herd dog for their milk cows was a border collie (slightly overweight)😂 named Lady. And her coloring was exactly like this border collie.❤❤❤
Yes, we took on another one just like him, also’Lady’. She was just that…not a dog but a lady. She didn’t do the mutual dog sniffing each other, just tolerated it. She would go into herding ‘wolf mode’ really fast when strangers came around. Smart, sweet, and lived to 17.

Our lovely border collie mix girl went over the rainbow bridge as they say about a month and a half ago. She basically just looked like an all black border collie with golden eyes. This sweet boy reminds me a lot of her, of course, including the blinking you mentioned may be a breed trait. She was definitely a nervous dog, so I agree with Mel on that one. I'm in Colorado but I wish there was a way to get put on a list as a last resort adopter. I'd definitely make my way out there for him if he needed me if no one else came through. Although I am trying to wait to let my last dog's passing settle in before getting another dog (and to be perfectly honest to give her a chance if she's willing to reincarnate back to me, haha) and I trust when it's the right time and the right dog it will happen on its own. He's so beautiful I'm sure he will have no problem getting adopted to a loving home.

Border collies are our dog, we are in #4, Demon is 2 (named by my son who loves Chrysler products and the dodge demon, also demon from snow dogs) we lost our last border collie 3 years ago, Bruce, he was 14 and suffered a stroke one day. He was wobbly, his eyes going back and forth too. I took him out to pee before we went to the vet and he still peed, he was such a great dog. Vet said there was no getting better so my son brought along a big bag of pepperettes and fed Bruce every last one as we were waiting our turn in the parking lot in the back of the van (covid times sucked) so many out in the parking lot watching, hardest thing I’ve ever went through, and just a week after my 50th Birthday and Mother’s Day. Thanks for listening BUT MOSTLY THANK YOU for all you guys do for each and every dog. Once I get my feet back on the ground, you’ll be the first channel in join! hugs and love to ALL shelter dogs always xoxo

I have energetic friends who have the best trained dog I have ever known, which is of course a Border Collie. Such an intelligent breed and loads of fun if you like being active. I used to have to watch with earphones on because the shelter sounds upset my Doberman's PTSD. Sadly, since he passed away Tuesday, I can now watch your episodes on my tv. He was my 2nd dog in a year to have passed away and my heart is decimated.

Inflation has made the cost of feeding our animals very challenging which is why I think the shelters everywhere are over crowded and begging for people to come and adopt these animals. They even suspend adoption fees.
