Introducing My Dogs to New Cat
As a previous owner of a cats and dogs over the years. I always encouraged sharing and camaraderie in situations like this, I would have held the kitten while the dog (or dogs?) climb into their bed. Then, gently place the kitten in the bed with the dogs. It took a few days of repeating this process, but did end in success. Most dogs I've had/known are more assertive then this dog, and the animals would bond on their own. But, sometimes they need some guidance.
This is exactly how I feel about the situation.

It's not their first encounter. The dog first looking for the kitten in its usual places, the basket and the litter, then everywhere in the room but his own basket. Cute video but it's staged. There is no tension at all between the two, the dog is just dumbfoundedto find the kitten in his basket.

I agree. My approach is to have more contact and interaction with the tiny kitten until it was confident enough to approach the dog.
In all the footage, the kitten was alone and nervous. Also, the person stroking the kitten looked unfamiliar with how to interact with kittens and cats.
Yes, it will all be fine in the end, but it would have been much easier and much less stressful for the kitten if the humans had been much more perceptive and understanding of how to help the kitten. After all, the kitten was very young, and absolutely tiny initially. Kittens are used to being part of a litter so to, by choice, leave the kitten by itself while it’s confronted by what to it is a HUGE and unfamiliar animal is unhelpful. On the plus side, the humans were there to ensure they could intervene if necessary.
Disappointing. But OK in the end. Why not make more of an effort to make it easier for the kitten? I’m assuming that it’s probably down to being unaware and unfamiliar with cat behaviour and sensitivities.

Wild dogs attack wild cats but household dogs see every household member as his masters and he has the lowest rank in the household. Household cats see themselves as the boss of the household and if a cat and a puppy are not raised together as babies, the cat will bully the dog. This dog feels he is being treated unfairly and the owner does not help him. He's feeling very sad.
The average border collie is smarter than about 85% people I have known in my long life.

We had one when we were young and my mom would get migraines and that dog was true love. As kids we could do anything. One day my poor mom woke from a headache and he had peanut butter and jelly from head to toe!! 😂 he would sit and watch TV with us, go outside with us, walk/run along out tricycles with us. He was all about us kids! My dad was NOT allowed to raise his voice to us 😂😂😂 he would bark at him!!!

I think the hooman must intervene… Sola is so sweet. That’s why she’s been bullied by the stray cat. Animals are like children… As much as we love them, they sometimes need to be disciplined and it’s our responsibility to make them understand. Sorry, I wouldn’t have let the cat take the bed… He needs to learn!

Who is 'letting' the cat have the bed? The cat bosses the dog, pure and simple. The dog could just as well climbed into its bed, cat or no cat. BTW I don't expect too much by way of intelligence from someone who refers to a fellow human as a 'hooman'.
It is not a stray cat, it's a kitten and No there's no bullying here, the dog is happy to sleep somewhere esle cause he understands he is not under threat from a tiny cute kitten. How to turn something beautiful into a negative.

But the cat does not want to share. And the owner allows the cat to bully the dog. Animals feel like humans. Do you allow your daughter to occupy her brother's room and the brother has to sleep in the living room and you tell him, "Poor boy! But you certainly have learned how to share. What a wonderful boy!". Your son can speak and tell you how he feels but this poor dog cannot.

This is terrible. Kitten should be thankful that it is alive. She was saved. She could sleep wherever, it is not important to her. They stole the bed from their loving dog for that kitten for no reason. Giving signal that they like kitten more than him

What Sola doesn't know is that chicken nugget now owns that bed, she needs to go around to the other side and just get in it, it is amazing how kittens take over everything if you let them. Poor baby Sola you can come over to my house and you can have my queen sized bed for as long as you like
Have you heard the expression, speaking with your eyes? Well, Sola is a beautiful example of that phrase. Her intelligence and sweet nature really shine thru. Sola must give her back-up some more assertiveness training. I laughed when Jerry looked his way. I've never heard a dog make that sound and pivot a chubby body so quickly. 😊 As for Jerry...... the name says it all!
Cats change their favorite places after a few weeks usually. Sola will have her place back soon. Besides: this bed is too small for a kitten. Soon he will move to the master bedroom. :-)

I agree. They can cuddle somewhere else at their choosing. A dog needs a sacred place that is his or her spot. The kitty is darling, but the dog shouldn't be made to share his spot. They could have gotten acquainted anywhere else in the house

I am sorry, but I could not help to feel sorry for the dog. He lost his bed, and lies at the hard wooded thing. That litle kitten "stole it" and I do believe that this is wrong, towards the dog. Beautiful dogs you have 😍🤩 And a ciutie little kitten 😻
What's fascinating is that Sola had such a knowledge of where the kitten might be and went searching in all those spots!
We just went through this with 5 kittens and as of today we are down to one little one. The other 4 have found wonderful forever homes. We might have an extra family member now. But I think we are grateful to have him stay here with us. Best of luck to your family.
You can't help but love kittens. Their impudence only adds to their cuteness!
I just hope this kitten has a playmate full time and that she doesn't spend most of the time alone.. She just seems so surprised to see anyone like she's not used to it. She needs company. And a full time feline companion. And kind humans.
I get the feeling the owner is overly cautious on the introduction. And you can tell these dogs are hearing it. We hear cutesy voice overs and music but not the actual owner's voice telling Sola to be careful. The kitten does need a friend but it doesn't have to be another cat. I have raised too many dogs and cats together to know this. Animals play and wrestle with each other. Too many think that this means they are fighting or angry with each other. This kitten is more than old enough to be allowed to roam the house, be considered a full fledged member of the houselhold, and the dogs to be given credit in not needing their human hovering over them everytime they are around the kitten.
Honestly, I think you should have helped Sola get into her own bed, after all the kitten is quite aggressive... After the dog got into her own bed, letting the kitten come in would've been a better idea.

lol, kittens are hilarious. As soon as they can manage to stand on their own four feet without tumbling over for a minute, they think they now rule the planet.
And Sola is a good girl for not destroying the little fellow's illusion.
