This is good information for any 6th gen Camaro owner. I've been using the ZL1 addons mag pads saw them on your older video, glad I watched it so I didnt lift in the wrong spot or not using the pinch weld.
Great info here! I have been curious about this for a while. Nice to know the safe places to use without worrying about crushing or collapsing body parts.
Man, thank you for this video! I was trying to find a good place for jack stands placement. Then i’ve seen the magnetic jack points and was unsure as to if they worked well. Now that i have seen there are bolt on ones, I will be purchasing some. Not because I lift my car frequently but because somebody from the previous dealership I go to placed the lift in the wrong spot and put a hole in the under side barrier.
Quick question, I need to lift the car completely, with one jack, and four jack stands. Which part do you recommend me lifting and lowering first? The back or the front on each side?
Very helpful information Matt. I have the Pittsburgh 3-ton low profile jack, the ZL1 Addon "permanent" lift pads installed on all 4 lift points, and 4 ton jack stands. I got the ZL1Addon items courtesy of watching your vids and they are great but I always had problem of how to get jack stand inserted when the jack was using the pinch weld lift point (front was issue). Seeing your tip on the inside subframe is a game changer. And likewise your old vid on using the center diff lift point allowed me to put stands under lifts points ahead of rear wheels. Now I can get 4 points supported with jack stands. (Before I got the permanent ZL1Addon pads I used the mag pads and the hockey puck inserted between mag pad and jack's lift arm cup--and for a simple wheel/tire changeout they were great combo).
Having owned a c7 corvette before my camaro, I can't say I am a fan of the design. The corvette had 4 clear jacking points with pucks to lift from. If you jacked it up from the centre lifting point, the whole one side of the car would lift with no stress about bending any pinch welds or worse
I ordered a set of the 6th Gen Pads. Impressed with the build quality. It looks like my pinch weld height is greater than the pad slot depth? So, is the intent for the pinch weld to support the vehicle weight? Why are the slots so wide? I am wondering about the possibility of the pinch weld bending within the pad slot?
I have a 5th gen 1le and been using the lift pads for over a year now. Great product. Dont be afraid to purchase these! I was skeptical they would stay on after my initial install but i have never even gone back and tighten these after the initial install and all is still well. Easy lifting!
IMO nothing wrong with putting stands on pinch welds gently, especially if you have the rubber jack stand toppers from HF. I appreciate knowing you can lift from rear diff, that helps tremendously. Thanks.
Thanks for this info. I was worried where to put the jack on my 2021 camaro with side skirts. I did not want to have my skirts ruined or my fender as this has happened to me on my Nissan Altima, but I didnt do it. A co worker did and wrecked my fender. I was upset, but I couldn't get mad since he offered to fix my tire. Lesson learned do it yourself lol.
1st? Nice content, Matt. I've used a jackstand in conjunction with rubber overlay grommets (with the middle notch) once or twice; it seemed ok. I also didn't raise it too high on either side at a time though.
Great vid! My lady friend has the 2017 SS and I have to change her oil Bought the lift pads and wasn't exactly sure where to place them and where to place the jack stands. Now I know!! Thank you, again, for the great instructional video.
I LOVE the lift points... Got them as soon as I got my car, and they have been fantastic. I can confidently jack up my car in half the time it would normally take me
I've got a similar set of jack stands like the ones in the video and I refuse to use them because your supposed to push in the metal tabs on the side (you can see the sticker with the arrow that points to the tab that needs to be pushed in). I noticed you didn't push them in, is this not a safety issue?

Very informative video! I have the flat version of those pads and they are super nice. I was changing out my oil today and noticed the pad starting to bend towards the door. I think this is due to not having the lift point on the jack centered with the pad, however, if I center it then my jack is going to press against my side skirt. What solution would you offer for this? Jacking both sides up at the same time? Btw I have a low profile Daytona jack. Thanks
