In a world full of boost, its refreshing to see N/A builds get the love it deserves. I personally love the throttle response and sound you get from them! Dope vid racer X
After adding a p1sc-1 pro charger with a stage 2 intercooler to my 2018 SS 1LE, I surpassed ZL1 power. Bored with that I pulled the engine, bored it .010 over and rebuilt it with forged pistons, rods, hydraulic roller rockers, stage 2 cam, long tube headers with cat deletes, E85 sensor, LT4 injectors, high press. Fuel pump, swapped some pulleys, one piece drive line and new axles all rated for 1000+HP, triple disc monster clutch, and went with Toyo R888 tires….my car is a monster now.
@@alexoike5381 I did an AFD/DOD delete and put a Katech delete cover. There’s a lot of stuff I didn’t list but they come factory with 455/455 HP/Torque and I’m at 826.7/787 HP/Torque with the Mods thus far. I built it as a track car(not a drag car) because of the handling so I’m really at about the usable limit of HP for that application. I’ve thought about upgrading the P-1SC-1 pro charger to a D1X (you can send it in and they can upgrade it for you at pro charger to give you more boost(I’m only running about 7psi right now), but that may be a bit too much for the track. I’ll maybe do a video with a cold start and a look under the hood if you wanna check it out. Check my TH-cam page after this weekend. I have a few old cars that I own that I’ve done little personal videos on.
No disrespect, but I love how you talk about a built car vs stock LOL. The amount of money you likely spent to get the car to "surpass" a zl1 with your "procharger" figure what between 6-8 thousand? or even when you did the rebuild to have it rated at "1000whp" is insane. If you threw that same money into a stock zl1 youre not even coming close. A stock zl1 from the factory strength wise is good for around 1000hp. Meaning the amount of money you put into that car could have been used in a better way with the zl1 as the internals are already built for it. going to be significantly cheaper than rebuilding the motor so that you have forged internals. I have a 2013 1ss cammed N/A that puts down about 500whp. And a completely stock 17 zl1. My cammed LS3 smacks stock 6th gen ss cars, and snackpacks LOL, But it doesnt even come close to my zl1. Look up the video of cleetus mcfarland doing a CAI, and upper pulley swap on stock zl1 and it picks up 100whp. Now sure, for track days/road course then you get into heat soak because youre overspinning the blower. But for a street car thats insane we are talking maybe a grand for the upgrades and tuning. The real monster is throwing the 2650 maggie on it with supplemental mods.
I have a 18’ 1le with a small cam headers and a bigger throttle body and a closed cold air intake a tune and I make around 520 to the wheels. She’s got three speeds, here, there, and gone 🤌🏾 I also recommend the nitto 555 g2s so far those have been the best gripping tire I’ve used 🤝🏽
I have a similar setup and about same rwhp (523), needed to do dod delete anyway so did msd intake, btr 220, texas speed 2 inch headers, tune and e85. its been fun walking the new mustangs
Sold my 2019 SS after a drive to Denver from Houston, accompanied by a hellcat charger, and hellcat challenger. Even though I could out handle them in curves, corners and rain(very little) they easily outpaced me on the straightaways( topped out at 168mph according to GPS. I bought a 2021 ZL1 and after meeting up with the same guys, I smoked them from start to finish. Dynoed 659hp to the crank and 650 torque. I decided to do serious upgrades, whipple charger, cam, 3 stage fuel system flex fuel with E85, tune 10speed transmission, custom intake by RPM, kooks headers ceramic coated and wrapped, high flow cats with cat back exhaust, suspension set up, 325s on the rear, etc. So far $20k. This particular setup gets 1130 hp to the crank, 1000hp to the rear wheels
@@COMMANDERHAWK22 cam I’d look at Brian tooley racing aka BTR cam Texas speed also has head and cam packages, either ported stock or aftermarket castings and both are great. Heads from Texas speed (PTR heads are good for the price) and a cam from BTR will turn an LT1 into quite the beast Or you got RPM and their packages, they are great as well- they are local to me and tuned my ZL1 after I did the mods. Pricey but there’s a reason they have such a wait list to get into their shop
I have a 2021 2ss 6spd loaded and I get tons of compliments from scat pack owners. The 2ss 6spd is so underrated, it's very fast, loaded with technology, hud, sunroof bose leds, active performance exhaust
Great video! I have a 2016 2SS Camaro with 3000 actual miles on it. I've really started considering making it faster. This video has really helped me figure out the direction my car needs to head towards. Thanks!
i have a 2020 1SS 1LE Camaro with 3400 miles on it. I bought it new and is a garage dweller. I know what i want to do with it but, you got to pay to play.
Got my 22 2ss1le manual 2 months ago. I was lucky and it took little over 3 months from order to receiving the car. It is my warm weather toy car and in love with it. I can carry my kid in the backseat too. My goal is to build a reliable na setup around 550 to 600 whp. The stock exhaust on these cars are amazing and love the pops crackles
I'm going na myself! Right now I have lt2 intake manifold 2" long tubes straight piped e85. Shes putting down 481hp 457tq Next heads cam bigger injectors and zl1 fuel pump should be close to 600 wheel!!!
Right on time! I took delivery of my 22 10speed last month and there's waaaayyyy more options when it comes to mods and it's easier to tune as well. After coming from a 392 I'm excited to see how this will perform!!
I just picked up my 2020 10-speed 2SS yesterday, I’m extremely excited! I also came from a 392 charger with all the mods( FBO /E85) it ran well but in a world of 10 speeds it wouldn’t be able to compete with the best NA setups. Heads/Cam , E85 package is the first mods im getting when i break the car in!
I love the front end on my 2018 hot red SS with the manual. It's just awesome as is. I just bought it with 11k miles. Collector just let it sit. No accidents, no open recalls, and 4 new tires (the old one had flat spots from storage). The dealer supplied new hoses and for 37k I got a lot for my money. My V6 was worth $26,000 in trade!!! $3400 more than I paid 4 it. Since I had paid down my old RS and I have Corvette power with a V6 payment. No cash down. Sweet car. 10:36
Thanks for the great review.... I ordered the 2023 2SS 4 months ago after watching this video....I went with the black with the red break calipers as shown in your video. Anyway It is being delivered next week. Very excited about it.. It certainly sucks that the car is being discontinued next year . Appreciate your great review..Seeing this color combination encouraged me to move forward on my order.
I chose the Camaro SS because I think its a combination of the best features, you have great handling, its not overly large and it has a NA 6.2 V8 with an EXCELLENT Tremec TR6060 six speed and it cost me $36K (1SS M6). True story, last week I was going out of town for a few hours and a new Hellcat Challenger wanted to do a 40 roll, I obliged knowing I stood no chance. What shocked me is that he didn't start pulling on me until we were north of 100mph, me an M6 on DWS06 all seasons and him an A8 on a tire, not sure what kind of tire but it wasn't stock. He did have a passenger, I did not. Only thing I have on my SS is a RotoFab intake, thats it. Putting down 550-600rwhp in a NA car like this would be wild.
The Hellcat has a ton of wasted horsepower for the street and is good to own for bragging rights only. I had the same encounter with a Hellcat and he never did get in front of me because we stopped but he was getting ready to. The Camaro SS is an awesome machine in it's own right and handles great for its weight, better than my ride and far better than a Challenger of any kind ever could.
@@anthonybrock1387 It handles better. It comes down to the drivers in straight line speed against the Mustang GT. I've beaten every SS I ever faced. That said, IMO the king of hp for the price is your LT1. It's a fun ride. 😁
That’s about what mine was getting stock. I only added a flex fuel kit with tune for e85 since then but it added 40 rwhp. It’s a very noticeable difference when driving.
Anything 410+ is a unicorn, and 420-425 is like Powerball jackpot, or people are lying, or dynos are far more gracious than the reality of things. 99% of these cars dyno 390-405, Anything over that is a factory freak, and is the farthest thing from being common you can get. In all my research of dyno numbers I've only see 2 or 3 that hit close to 420, and that is assuming people are not lying, and the dyno shop is not full of shit.
Ordered a 2023 2SS 1LE in Rapid Blue a few days ago, wish me luck that I can get one built and delivered in a timely manner. After years of boosted cars, I'm back to my first cars, NA V8s, and I was planning on going the route you talked about.
I finally got my 2022 2SS coupe with the 6spd. I love all the muscle cars but the Camaro just overall suited me the best. Fantastic car with the best handling and an amazing engine and transmission
Stock zl1 on 93 vs a fbo e85 lt1 direct injected motor with a trans tune and motor tune. Also lighter, It should win. Put a pulley on the zl1 and a tune and it’s no longer a race.
Recently bought my 2SS 1LE 6spd manaul, which bought me to this video and h/c/i and tune is all you need from what I've been reading. The 1le is a monster, such an underrated car
Correct on all points, and the same thinking applies not to just Camaros but previous generation Corvettes as well. Not just a C8 but C6 and C7 and even C5 take mods great and being lighter are even faster. I miss my head/cam C6 and would like to pick up an older GS or Z car and do a head/cam bolt on car again. A lot of great options for folks depending on what they want to spend. A new GT500 or ZL1 is fantastic but I chose a Charger Redeye instead and haven't regretted that choice since I'm lined up for an early C8 Z06 as well. I've always looked at it as if I want a 2 door I only want 2 seats so it's light and sporty, and if it has a back seat may as well have 4 doors and be comfortable for people getting in and out. The Charger platform paired with a Corvette is perfect for me. I looked at a CT5-V BW too, another good choice for 4 doors. If I could only have 1 though maybe a GT500 or Vette only. But luckily I can have 2 or 3.
I've always wondered why mopars didn't react to mods the way Mustang and Camaro do. My friend did a cam, long tube headers, and of course a tune on a SS. His car beats my ZL1 every time not by much but a win is a win
I like the Camaro I hope it never goes away, in fact it was my first car. I’m still pissed they got rid of the fire bird that would have been nice to see in the through back body style. And idk what anyone says Chevy sounds the best on a nice choppy cam however dodge does to but it’s less common and the cam isn’t as aggressive. Maybe for my next car I’ll get a camaro or a vet who knows it’s been a long time.
SS Camaro is just a solid, well built and engineered car all around. It is the perfect baseline to build a daily driving streetable monster without having to tear deep into the motor
I ordered a LT1 a few months ago. It just got built and should be here in 2-3 weeks. 6 speed manual in Rapid Blue. Only $37k!!! Great bang for buck. Can’t wait. Thinking of doing heads and cam like you say.
I watch this guys TH-cam because he has interest in content but mostly because he's an intelligent dude that isn't a ying yang like so many other guys on yt and who seems to give a straight shot to all brands. Thanks!
I get what you're saying and normally it would be appealing. My issue is I live at 5,000ft in elevation where their air is thinner. So forced induction is something that appeals to me, especially turbocharged. This is why I'm considering the ZL1 option.
@@Texaslivinn97 Forced air helps what can be an “air-starved” condition for NA cars at higher pressure altitudes. It’s just like when you jog at higher pressure altitudes and get quickly winded.
Actually? Blower cars are affected by it, because the pulley isn’t freewheeling like a turbo is. Granted, it’s slightly LESS affected than a NA car, but only turbo cars aren’t affected because the turbo freewheels and you get allllllll the power.
@@Texaslivinn97 Oxygen is the catalyst in Air that is used in the combustion process. At higher altitudes the atmospheric pressure is lower and the air particles are more spread out. This means that per cubic foot of volume there is less oxygen at higher altitudes than at sea level. Forced Induction, super charged or Turbo, creates a significant vacuum, pressurizes the air it's intaking (thus measuring boost in psi), and forces that into the combustion chamber, there by overcoming the deficit of density found at high altitude.
I know you remember me Racer X I own the 2018 SS Camaro with a 8 sp automatic and it's still busting balls on the street. I love my SS and don't plan on changing anything but oil and filters. Glad to see your respect for the LT1 all aluminium 6.2 L motor. It really is a sweet running motor, runs low 12s all day long stock' The guys that put bigger camshaft and higher flowing heads really eat the gas. I love my SS Camaro and planning on driving the wheels off it.
I've previously owned a 2nd gen coyote, a LT1 Vette (C7), and currently a LT4 ZL1. Both companies know how to build their engines in recent years. I like to keep my vehicles mostly stock, but I respect that the engines/cars I've owned can respond extremely well to mods. They accomplish their tasks differently, but there's no debate they're all great motors! I do plan to eventually sell my Camaro, but I do like it quite a bit! I'm just more a corvette girl myself (so I'm staying in the family 🤭). Waiting on a build slot for the C8 😅
Funny how we all was pulling crank shafts out of 400 small blocks for our 350 chevy to build a 383 and GM said that's a great combo and stole our design 😉 👌
I have a cammed camaro ss 1le and live near Irving lol. 1LE is the ultimate NA setup out of American car companies. You get the handling and the speed. Takes all your points to a further level.
@@KickinItWithQ Do it! You won't regret it. Love how the car feels and drives now. We extended redline to 7.2k and it sounds glorious going through the gears.
Honestly I’d recommend getting a 6th gen 2SS or 1LE then just mod it. The zl1 isn’t worth the extra price for power imo when you can just get a new 2ss and mod it yourself to reach the same hp for cheaper. Unless you just don’t really care about the cost.
@@Mral236d and as of right now, that's kinda my plan, to get a 6 gen 2ss 1le and mod it out. The aggressive look of the 2019s and up headlights has me sold. The ZL1 has kept the same headlights
I'm one of the "little guys" who can barely afford the car they have (2017 1SS) lol, but watching your video gives me hope that I can save and tune my ride to become a monster. Great video Racer X and thanks for the guidance on the direction I should take my car.
I'm right there with you. I bought my '22 1SS right when the car market started to go crazy. I got it at MSRP of $40k and some change. Same dealership had a '20 LT1 with 7k miles for $43k. They had a policy where they sell new cars at MSRP and used cars at Market. If I had waited any longer to buy my car I'd have been priced out. I can't find a single example of a 1SS that I'd be able to hit the $560/month payments I'm doing now. A year later, and with almost 10k miles on the clock and it's now valued at $47,500.
I have the 2021 SS 1LE with a 6 speed. The engine in mine is actually a Vette engine. They took left over Vette engines from the C-7 and put them in the SS 1LE. There is a metal tag attached to the engine that says performance center Bowling Green Kentucky with the builders name on it.
Power ain't cheap on the LT1. heads cam is easily $5k. FBO with top quality parts is $5-7k with install. $12k for 150-200whp is OK I guess, but it aint pocket change.
My 17 automatic is going to the shop next week. BTR Stage 2 cam, TSP longtube headers, BTR DOD delete, and CHE trunion kit, and and 8L90 converter with installation is gonna run just shy of $15k
I recommend getting the flex fuel kit and e85 tune first. It’s definitely the most power you can add for the price. It’s a noticeable difference (30-50hp) depending on the tune and it’s less than $1000 all in.
The Camaro is a beautiful car that’s in the category of sports muscle, like the Mustang. My only disappointment with it is that it’s too small to be my daily driver and take occasional rides with family Perhaps Chevy will reinvent the 4 door muscle car because right now Dodge is on top of their game in that category Maybe they’ll take that ct5 platform and make something special 🤷🏾♂️
Variable valve timing makes a huge difference in these cars vs the previous generation. Doesn't even take a big cam to get impressive number out of it.
When car prices start coming down to more reasonable ranges, I was planning to look into a Supra but man...Supra prices are ridiculous without markups. An SS with a few bolt-ons might actually be the better option financially.
And easier to find parts for the supra world has like specific people u have to know to be able to get certain parts for like dash pieces n certain body mods n things of that sort
2018 Camaro SS 1LE My Build: BTR Gen V .225 cam LME CNC Heads Kooks LT Headers Air Raid Intake RotoFab CAI Throttle Body DSX E85 fuel sensor Engine Tune So much fun to drive. Engine is very revvy and redline creeped up to 7k.
I had a 2020 Camaro SS 10 Speed and just with E85 and a tune it was faster then my 392 Charger. But the real N/A monster I think is the 10 Speed Coyotes. They respond so well to mods. Yours is a beast 💪🏻
On Race Proven Motorsports site (the dyno pull you showed) a 6th Gen exhaust, heads, cam package (stage 3) is $14,500 ish.. They don't just "slide the cam" in unfortunately. It's either a complete removal of the LT engine OR the whole front clip has to come off.. In fact, the guys at Race Proven Motorsports tend to use the 1st option and just pull the engine because it goes a bit smoother. So I agree, they LOVE mods, but unfortunately, it's not that simple with the LT engine
I gained almost 40 rwhp with a flex fuel kit and e85 tune on my 6th gen Camaro. If anyone is looking to mod their stock Camaro I’d say that’s definitely the best power mod you can start with for the price.
@@TheJMan1K the 6th gen Camaros are at about 400rwhp stock. The 445hp shown isn’t rwhp. After the tune with the flex fuel it was at 442 rear wheel hp and 467 torque. Cost me about $800 all in for tune+ flex fuel kit
Love the E85 especially with the 91 in Cali right now at $6+ a gallon. I’m putting in E85 for like $3.70 a gallon right now(not to mention the performance)!!
@@ixpol9163 oh wow that’s awesome that’s a huge difference in price for e85. It’s only about 60 cents cheaper for e85 than it is for premium where I live, but $6+ is crazy! It’s $3.30 for premium 93 in Texas rn lol
Thanks for this video. I have a ‘19 2SS, and love it. Unfortunately I live in Cali, and I can’t even buy the air cleaner I want because of the stupid laws in this dystopian state. They literally are not able to ship it to me. I’m guessing the other mods you mentioned would be a felony… Anyways, that doesn’t mean I’m not going to look into it! This car is already fun on the track while being daily driver friendly. It even gets good gas mileage if you keep your foot out of it. Yeah right, not easy to exercise that much discipline. Thanks again for the suggestions.
As far as the 600 whp camaro. I just priced out all the parts listed in their video and it came out to $8947 before shipping and what not. Probably budget a grand for dyno tuning. My guess would be 2500-3500 in install cost. All in maybe 14k.
alot depends on what parts you get.. if you get the most expensive everything perhaps thats true but I can assure you that it can be done for much less than 14k
@@brianbartley6723 I prefer N/A. I have a charger at the moment but am looking into Camaros and Mustangs. Seems like price per hp the mustang wins but Ive always wanted the SS 1le
Fbo and e85 should be under 3k, mental math puts me at $2,600 with online prices. And that’s with good parts including msd manifold, but you could opt to get the lt2 mani and sit at just over 2k. Bolt those on yourself and call the best local shop and expect to pay a few thousand for h/c job and get everything tuned at once. Definitely doable
This was so informative, this guy really knows his stuff and he made me think twice and maybe the SS is the best choice. If I ever buy one, I will ask him if he is available for a paid consult as what to do to make it track ready.
FBO/ Cam SS makes 550 whp while Stock ZL1 makes 570 whp , ZL1 still has the advantage , and the ZL1 has difference transmission calibration. And i believe the 16-18 SS had the 8 speeds not 10 speeds
You are correct on the trans.. the 10 speed does carry an advantage. I have seen several Zl1's make right at 550 wheel and several NA SS cars make 570-580 wheel with a healthy cam on E85 and all the goodies.
Check out pray performance gpi and max effort, unfortunately there’s a lot of garbage tunes out there for the 6 gen. But those 3 know what their doing. Pray has gotten plenty of n/a 6 gens in the 10s and even 9s.
a heads cam ss setup right will trounce a zl1. Similar or more hp and several hundred lbs lighter. not to mention no heat soak power loss that the lt4 can suffer from. the 8 speed is just as fast from a dig and up to about 110 mph. 5th gear slows down the a8 just a touch but its not a huge difference. car or so back on a roll vs 10 speed. in fact I was running faster than a zl1 with bolt ons and 490 rwhp. videos on my channel. heads cam it will be embarrassing.
Great content as always, you do your homework and research like know one else. Not being a GM fan at all, but they do make a very good engine for N/A. Excellent video bud.
I’ve got a 2024 Camaro 1SS 6MT and may do a heads and cam package. It’s a lot more work than what people assume. It’s a full engine out job and tuning it is not the easiest. It’s going to cost a lot too. Awesome cars but it’s not that simple.
You do stage 3 heads, cam, 13:12 intake and long tubes and you’ll be in the low 10s. Stock ZL1 won’t break into the 10s. He was talking about the fact that you could make a NA ss faster than stock ZL1 with solid mods.
Yep. Got my 2023 LT1 Camaro a couple months ago. Knew that base V8 would be best to build upon and keep naturally aspirated. These things will be going away soon. Stock, this thing is crazy fun. I wanted a fun car, and got it. Break in period still....Then the bigger fun begins.
Cam install headers, tune etc, will run 5-6k, heads would be more. To each there on, but drop that 2650R on a ZL1, and a cam, and its game over for hellcat widebody or GT500, I know they can mod also, but GM should have put the 2.6 on, but that's ok, when mine is paid for it will get the beans.
Started off life a Chevy guy, then I fell in love with and bought a few Mustangs, including my beloved GT500 (sold). After hating on Camaros as a Mustang guy, Ive rediscovered my love for Chevrolet performance and fallen for the LT1 Camaros. I still think Mustangs are cool, but the LS/LT engine is honestly the king of performance. Its incredibly expensive to mod and boost Mustangs. My GT500 cost absurd money to get past 700, and to get it to 1000 reliably cost a small fortune. I said no thanks. So, here we are full circle: Im looking for a new Camaro SS manual to make my fun car and share my passion for cars with my kids.
The ZL1 has the LT4 which isn't a lot different from the LT1. The pistons are the weak point since they are not forged in the stock LT1 if I'm not mistaken. Other than that there isn't much difference between the two besides the obvious blower.
@@khawk5857 when i 1st bought my zl1 i thought the only differences were, the supercharger, 6 piston front brakes, magnetic shocks, wider rims. months later i found things like bigger oil pan, stronger half shafts, diff cooling. it's a big list and it's not easy to find but i did find this...... General Motors tells us this official run around the ‘Ring is actually quite a lot faster than the old Camaro SS. And so it should be, considering "more than 30 per cent of the SS was re-engineered for the ZL1".
@@jasonbrittain7110 gotcha. I had the 1LE on my mind when I was putting my post up and looked again and realized that's not what you were talking about. Yes lap times would also be faster since the ZL1 has the extra ponies. I agree with you since I was thinking of a different model of the SS.
CNC Ported Stock Heads, Cam, Long Tube Headers, Cat-Back, E85 Tune - Done. No open element filter pods to suck hot engine compartment air. A K&N in the OEM box and call it a day. Next step would be a 4" Stroker crankshaft and pistons/rods to 416 CID up from 376....and nothing gets wasted in terms of previous modifications.
@@xXcashXx3 no you’re correct the 5.7 is trash… you can make anything work with enough time and money but when it comes to efficiency the 5.7 is trash with boost and trash with bolt ons… ppl will defend their car/purchase no matter what though
I'm planning on buying a 2ss this year but, can't decide on a 6spd or automatic 🤧🤧 I have my little banger cobalt manual to bang around but, I can only imagine how fun a manual camaro is🙃
I have a manual. Its WAY more fun than an auto. Auto might be a touch faster but who cares, it's not noticeable and in a roll race I think the manual is better. If you don't want to shift, then get the auto.
421rwhp baseline with a ported throttle body and rotofab.. 590rwhp heads, ls7 lifter set, cam, intake, kooks, 103mm tb..e85. Stock bottom. It's a blast.
Emissions should be fine and stalling depends. If your car is an automatic transmission it is much more likely to stall depending on what stage cam you get. You should be fine with a 6 speed manual. cars with a cam really want to just take off so normal city driving at a light will require more acceleration and gas when taking off in first gear or it will stall.
Very good information I’m just a big fan of leaving cars like that factory anyways everything just clicks together but once you start putting mods on it becomes addictive in my opinion and no matter how power you add you’ll still get beat on any given day
That's the car I have all black 6 speed manual...may eventually do some mods good to know it's potential...but I'm satisfied with it stock right now just cruising the roads I LOVE THIS CAR!
Still have to pull heads on the LT, they all have AFM so you have to not only do a non AFM cam, but you’ve got to swap out lifters, pushrods, and valve springs as well; it’s about a $3000 job all in. I’d rather have a LS3 without direct injection, no need to do special valve cleaning every so often with the port fueled engine either. The LT engine is one of the biggest reasons I’ve stayed on gen iv LS engines vs gen V.
I'm not trying to hate or anything but the camaro zl1 makes 650 hp and torque from factory. Idk where you got 500-550 from, and the ZL1 is a track/lap car so it isnt just more power, you also get better handling suspension, tires, brakes, and many other features. Im not saying its a terrible idea to upgrade your ss, go ahead I just want to clarify and educate ig anyone that would want to try it because it would probably cost you the same amount to upgrade your ss camaro to be the same or more hp than it would be to just buy a zl1 with the aditional feature entrior wise, aethetically wise, and handling too. Again im not hating or trying to make anybody mad lol, I actually have a 2023 ZL1 so im not some random dude driving an altima talking trash LMAOOOOO.

Fuel pump, swapped some pulleys, one piece drive line and new axles all rated for 1000+HP, triple disc monster clutch, and went with Toyo R888 tires….my car is a monster now.

You should make some vids on that beast. Show the world what you got and make some bucks.
Finally someone with some real information better than the video itself 💯
I have a 17 1LE with very few mods. A cam, intake manifold and headers tuned for 93 it puts down 527hp and 473tq. Sounds amazing and it hauls ass

I’m doing the comp cam stage 2, long tube headers, CAI, and a tune. Don’t believe I’ll get anywhere close to 520 to the wheels.

Excellent content X!
Absolutely my friend

It’s better than the mustang and challenger…… handling by far better. I have one the LT1 is a beast better than the HEMI

I’ve seen multiple of these on the dyno with 420-425hp stock to the rear wheels. But you’re right it just depends on the dynos and weather.
That’s about what mine was getting stock. I only added a flex fuel kit with tune for e85 since then but it added 40 rwhp. It’s a very noticeable difference when driving.

I get what you're saying and normally it would be appealing. My issue is I live at 5,000ft in elevation where their air is thinner. So forced induction is something that appeals to me, especially turbocharged. This is why I'm considering the ZL1 option.
How does elevation effect forced induction?
@@Texaslivinn97 Forced air helps what can be an “air-starved” condition for NA cars at higher pressure altitudes. It’s just like when you jog at higher pressure altitudes and get quickly winded.
Actually? Blower cars are affected by it, because the pulley isn’t freewheeling like a turbo is. Granted, it’s slightly LESS affected than a NA car, but only turbo cars aren’t affected because the turbo freewheels and you get allllllll the power.
Superchargers are forced induction and under boost, so they are better than NA at higher pressure altitudes. Turbochargers are the least affected.

They had a policy where they sell new cars at MSRP and used cars at Market. If I had waited any longer to buy my car I'd have been priced out.
I have seen several Zl1's make right at 550 wheel and several NA SS cars make 570-580 wheel with a healthy cam on E85 and all the goodies.
good tuner and proper build NA camaro max effort is 620-650 on stock cubes
Check out pray performance gpi and max effort, unfortunately there’s a lot of garbage tunes out there for the 6 gen. But those 3 know what their doing. Pray has gotten plenty of n/a 6 gens in the 10s and even 9s.
Love the content for years the cheys have always been cheaper to build and easier so in my opinion you nailed it. God bless and as always be safe 👍
a heads cam ss setup right will trounce a zl1.
Comp Cams Stage 2 - American stainless long tube headers. K&N CAI, Dyno Tune - MBRP cat back non-npp.
Great content as always, you do your homework and research like know one else. Not being a GM fan at all,
but they do make a very good engine for N/A. Excellent video bud.
So are you a Mopar guy,? Or do you drive around in those,... Frickin Overheats Rollin Downhill?
@@rickhenry9044 Dude you are not worth taken decent time for good response. Just take
your rude ass back to the GM trash can you came out of.
@@rickhenry9044girl what?
I’ve got a 2024 Camaro 1SS 6MT and may do a heads and cam package. It’s a lot more work than what people assume. It’s a full engine out job and tuning it is not the easiest. It’s going to cost a lot too. Awesome cars but it’s not that simple.
Where you going for these cams and head packages over in tri state they looking for 7k
I've always been a mustang guy but now you got me thinking about Camaro SS 👍
My ZL1 is ridiculous fast! The 2 SS isn’t close. I owned both.
Facts my ss had a Magnuson on it my ss ran 11.2 my zl1 running 9.6
You do stage 3 heads, cam, 13:12 intake and long tubes and you’ll be in the low 10s. Stock ZL1 won’t break into the 10s. He was talking about the fact that you could make a NA ss faster than stock ZL1 with solid mods.
You can also make a civic Camaro fast if you dump enough $$$ in it. If you want more power than the SS just get a ZL1 .
You dump all this money into a SS you can by a used low mileage ZL1 650 hp and be money ahead
Camaros are thee best! Not only for the street but for the track!
You should do a camaro NA build id like to see what you can make out of it
Started off life a Chevy guy, then I fell in love with and bought a few Mustangs, including my beloved GT500 (sold).
A 2ss stock camaro vs. a stock zl1, however, finds the latter to be quite a bit faster.
He speaks the truth. Mine ('17 1LE) with headers (HF cats), xpipe, e85 and tune makes 465hp, 500tq at the wheels and is a totally different car now.
30% of the ZL1 is upgraded parts that are different from the SS. it's not just the supercharger you're paying for.
Yes sir and that's what most people think.
The Hemi is honestly a disappointment when it comes to mods even LS engines respond well to any mod
The 5.7 hemi take well to mods look at modern red hemi channel his procharge 5.7 beats hell cats
@@vell4263 i meant N/A mods like cam and intake almost any engine can be boosted
@@xXcashXx3 the 5.7 cam headers tune throttle intake it take well to all type of mods
@@xXcashXx3 no you’re correct the 5.7 is trash… you can make anything work with enough time and money but when it comes to efficiency the 5.7 is trash with boost and trash with bolt ons… ppl will defend their car/purchase no matter what though
@@whatswrong598 those 5.7 6.4 hate boost like crazy I’m talking about 6.4 whipple 580hp🤣🤣
Love Camaros. I have a 2016 and I absolutely love it.
Great video and very informative! Having owned a 2SS, I think it's best of the 3 (Chevy, Ford, Dodge).
Agreed and I’m a huge ford guy. Ford trucks are still the best, but the Camaro definitely beats the other 2 when it comes to cars. Love my 2SS
421rwhp baseline with a ported throttle body and rotofab.. 590rwhp heads, ls7 lifter set, cam, intake, kooks, 103mm tb..e85. Stock bottom. It's a blast.
I always loved the lumpy cams but my memories ask, will it go through emissions and are there overheating concerns or stop light stalling?
Emissions should be fine and stalling depends. If your car is an automatic transmission it is much more likely to stall depending on what stage cam you get. You should be fine with a 6 speed manual. cars with a cam really want to just take off so normal city driving at a light will require more acceleration and gas when taking off in first gear or it will stall.
Definitely a great cam is a must.
Very good information I’m just a big fan of leaving cars like that factory anyways everything just clicks together but once you start putting mods on it becomes addictive in my opinion and no matter how power you add you’ll still get beat on any given day
I agree 100%
That's the car I have all black 6 speed manual...may eventually do some mods good to know it's potential...but I'm satisfied with it stock right now just cruising the roads
I LOVE THIS CAR!
Love the camaro, but unfortunately the LT1 has a, limit on the bottom end verse the LT4 which is forged
What about the SS Camaro?
He was talking about rear wheel horsepower. Not crank horse power generally it can go both ways, both are awesome cars to build.
Wheel horsepower bro 650 at engine not wheel
Bought one of these late last year. Took a long time to find it. It's a monster.
