Thank you for taking the time to post your ingenious mod. Brought new technology to my old EX and it’s literally a night and day difference.

@GolfCartSpeedyLink, thank you for taking the time to make this video. I used the same 23mm Eagle eye Leds and it worked out perfectly. Only difference with mine, I didn’t enlarge the opening on the aluminum dome, I used a small screwdriver and carefully pried the aluminum domes off of the plastic that holds the LEDs. This allowed me to tighten the new eagle eye LED nut. I used two nuts so the LEDs do not loosen after they are tightened. I also used crimp connectors on the LED wiring in the event I have to change them out in the future if they go bad. Took me 2-3 hours over the course of two days to do because I really took my time, absolutely worth it though. Also, I recommend whoever is doing this mod to plastic weld the factory push switches with your solder gun and hot glue them once you slide the switches back in place so they do not shift.

Fantastic video! Thanks for sharing. I did this to my 01 Excursion, with the 9 watt (equivalent) 23 mm light you recommended. What a difference, super bright!
A few quick comments for others who might do this mod.
    1. I can see where many people might think the 9 watt bulbs are too bright. You could definitely go with a lower wattage bulb and still have way more light than the original lights. Also, I think that I would go with amber or yellow bulbs if I were to do it again. The white light is kind of harsh and the amber would be a softer color.
    2. You can just snip off the aluminum dome reflectors. They are totally useless after this mod and just take up a lot of space. It makes the whole install a lot easier and gives you more room to work.

I made an error in the video I used the 23mm diameter. They are marketed as Eagle Eyes. Here is the description from Amazon. Thanks YITAMOTOR 6pcs Eagle Eye LED High Power 9W 12SMD Waterproof Car LED Lighting Kit Motorcycle Daytime Running Light DRL Fog Backup Tail Lights (23mm, White)

Thank you for the video. Ordered the 18mm lights. Been puting up with the dim factory lights in my Excursion for five years now, and can't wait to get this mod done.

This Ford Excursion overhead console lighting replacement is truly remarkable! I've tested three different LED bulb replacement methods for those lackluster Excursion overhead lights, and this one stands out as the ultimate solution, providing an abundance of light for reading handwritten notes and examining map details. I opted for the Teguangmei 23 mm White 9W Eagle Eye LED motorcycle running lights, and as described by Digital Overdrive, they seamlessly fit and lock into place using his installation method. Not only do they work exceptionally well, but they're also more energy-efficient than the original bulbs. Instead of the original 'reflected' light method, these LEDs direct the light beam straight into the cab, making a world of difference.
The only minor downside I noticed is that the bulb color is slightly more on the blueish side than I prefer, but it's a compromise I'm willing to make for the improved illumination.
While I had the console down to install the new lights, I decided to go the extra mile and create a hole to wire in a USB A power socket on the front edge of the console. This additional step allowed me to power my dash camera conveniently. The USB placement in the upper console eliminates the need for a messy power cord stretching across the windshield to the camera.

Thanks for the comment. I like your idea of a usb jack. Wish I would haave thought to do that while the console was apart.... Cheers!

@@digitaloverdrivesystems do you find the shadow effect created by the LED to be frustrating? Im in the purchasing phase to update a similar excursion. I am afraid ill be frustrated by the shadow pattern of the led lights.
