48:02 "Capacity doesn't seem necessary" I can already see the misplay happening without having to watch the rest of the video. The comedic timing of this is pretty hilarious and its hilarious to see the champion cost too much capacity. This was probably a winning run otherwise so great episode NL!
I went with a unit upgrade right after getting Dante, which allowed me to put the largestone on him. I also used double shrines to double my blights, so a double Dante bottom floor completely creamed the rest of the run.
i did the same mistake on the daily, still managed to pull it off though thanks to dante and Cave In: monstertrain://runresult/01f63b75-b903-47f7-a123-df3d3cdd0fc2
I mean that Version of the Hellhorned isn't that bad, just depends on what you get to support it, it may not be the best early but it is pretty good by mid+late game with the right stuff.
30:15 Sting cards give you +1 draw next turn, and don't use up a draw slot when the artifact adds them to your hand. On a run where your low draw makes it hard for you to even cycle through your entire deck, it could've been big.
After seeing the title and then seeing him start this daily I knew he was going to make the same mistake I did at the end. It haunts me still. Luckily my super buff Dantes carried me to a super easy win anyways. But I still felt so dumb.
Yeah, but what he did then was deal 12 damage to the boss with two frozen lances. If he used torch to kill the back unit instead, he could have flash frozen the boss and used one frozen lance, for a total of 45 damage
@@Matreud it killed me when I saw fireball sitting there, and watched him throw away the d.o.t. it seems a lot of people think it's over rated, but some of my easiest runs have been frozen heavy.
Here's the thing about the blight events: The value proposition for one event alone doesn't tend to be that great, it's probably about equal. The true value comes from taking multiple blight events because they all synergise with eachother! That means it's often just worth taking a blight event early as a form of speculative pick.
20:10 Also, something I recently learned, if a unit has a slay trigger, it will also proc if that unit has spikes and an enemy dies on those spikes. So putting spikes on the sweeper with a slay trigger is a really good move.
at 24:22, one of the best things about Razorsharp Edge is that it can be used on ENEMY units: -2 Max HP will kill any unit that has 2 or less Max HP instantly, regardless of armor or etc., so you could have used it on the money cherub!
Hey NL, here's a tip. Razorsharp Edge doubles as a removal spell for those enemies with 1 or 2 hp, so you can snag the gold looter guy or off one of the archers or haste granters with it. It's a pretty solid card for that reason
Pro tip: Capacity is the best choice roughly 110% of the time. It's actually insane how little value the other 2 options are relative. They're gonna have to start adding extra pyre buffs or something to the other two. Draw and energy are easily supplemented by other things, and often not even a limiting factor at all. But capacity is almost always the bottleneck. And it's three bottlenecks, not just one. You get essentially triple the benefit from it due to it helping all three floors.
Nah, I sometimes pick draw and extra ember, and that's on higher covenant. Card draw I think is even more important with higher covenant levels and you don't always get extra ember sources.
@@greindes1579 I pick all three on C25, just depends what you need the most. Though at least 1 capacity upgrade is usually needed on C20+ because 4 capacity suuuuuucks.
Hey NL, little info that might make you take one of the curse event options. The purge cards enemies add to your deck counts as blights and therefore play into those artifacts. For example, Fel spamming curses at you while you have the “Deal 100 damage” means you’re given a couple 100 damage spells every other turn.
I got adaptive mutation and I had large-stoned one of those gigantic Awoken who get +60 hp on summon. Gave it multistrike and they just smashed through everything. The double-summon on this daily made for some seriously nutty floors when paired with Cave-in. Top run for this day was someone who got double Largestone on Dante, then duplicated him twice. So every floor is two 33/90's with 4 multistrike when done correctly.
"Capacity Catastrophe" >Taking Trample Penumbra I know where this is going... Classic egg loses by not reading? He's not the first to make this mistake and honestly its better that he learns on a daily of all times.
I was wondering if he'd ever manage to make a unit so big he couldn't play it. He never seemed to acknowledge that the champion upgrades increased their capacity cost so I figured he just never realized it.
Found out about the nl merch from yesterdays nlss vod but it was already too late to buy them. A world where egg fans can recognize other fans in public is a world I want to live in.
I made that exact same mistake on an ascension run and I felt like I died inside. Great run, I've seriously been loving builds and seeing how much fun you're having!
Between battles, make sure you keep in mind the order of locations you can go to: Duplicating before you enter a shop would be silly if you have the chance to improve a card. Checking out the shop before you pick units is also good since you will have a better idea of your deck construction and planning. My order is: check shops, units, trinkets, use shops, caves, remove 2 cards, duplicate And look ahead in the map! Planning ahead = winning in the present
I'd never actually run the numbers on whether the trample Penumbra would get too big for the default capacity. The only reason I never made the same mistake NL did here is because I always ended up wanting capacity for my other floor. Yikes!
The calcified embers are just a free 3 times 100 damage event. You don't have to save them. Purge them early from your deck and get a free semi-useless relic but also have 300 damage in the early game to clear mobs.
You still need 3 ember to play them, so you often will draw a dead card, why pick it, when you can just draw more useful cards instead? Actually the best part is when enemies add blight cards to your hand and you can you it against them.
I read the title and thought 'damn, that reminds me of the daily a few days ago when I never picked a capacity upgrade and my champion couldn't every be placed'
I made the same exact mistake on this run with the Penumbra guy being too big to shove on the board! But I still won because I had upgraded Dante with a Largestone and an Attack stone or something. Dude hits pretty hard
Don't feel too bad about the capacity misplay, it happens to the best of us. Fortunately in my case my deck had a few cards that could increase floor capacity and I could still play my champion next time I drew him.
Man, my last run was with this version of the champion, and I was able to stack rage so he could deal 1000 dmg and he had trample. So he was killing the whole floor and gaining like 50 armor a turn. It was crazy
10:10 This event is very good if you get it with artifact that gives you extra ember for blight cards in your deck. Had it once with "snecko eye" and it was probably my weirdest run!
I had basically the exact same setup today on covenant 25. 2 deadweight to start, 3 vengeful shards giving extra energy, 3 calcified embers giving 100 damage per blight played. Along with snecko eye. Very sick run that resulted in a rare C25 victory.
48:02 "Capacity doesn't seem necessary" I can already see the misplay happening without having to watch the rest of the video. The comedic timing of this is pretty hilarious and its hilarious to see the champion cost too much capacity.
This was probably a winning run otherwise so great episode NL!
I’m just calling this one an honorary win because it was absolutely a guaranteed win until that one fast and loose moment
I made the same mistake

NL: "Why did the curb your enthusiasm theme start playing after I picked my champion upgrade?"
dunk dunk dunk...
I mean that Version of the Hellhorned isn't that bad, just depends on what you get to support it, it may not be the best early but it is pretty good by mid+late game with the right stuff.
Could Capacity Catastrophe be the best deckbuilder of 2020?
It is a great name for a game imo
That daily ended in the best way I’ve ever seen. Don’t beat yourself up for it though I didn’t realise either fwiw.
What does fwiw mean?
@@saijeetdogra9360 For what it's worth
at this point I'm just watching to hear him say "dunka dunk dunk dunk"
NL: We really need more draw here. Morsels are basically useless, so let's steer clear of them.
Game: *Free Sting every turn*
NL: Wow, 2 free morsels!
I would love for this game to be in a Golden Goblet, like StS was a while ago.
There's even the hell rush gamemode they can use
hell yea plus they can do hell rush
HELL YEAH
Hell Rush Golden Gublut would be pog
That even fair to Dan?
Pogging up for the debut episode of the “Capacity Catastrophe” series!
Interesting way to change the title today egg. Keep up the pogged up content. Always a highlight of my day!
The comedy of the finish made up for the psychic scars inflicted by getting Dante then immediately going for spell upgrades, including Restore.
Just won a run using your Alpha Fiend spam on the middle floor strategy. Thanks for the dub NL :)
That’s honestly the most hilarious end to any run I’ve seen. Thanks for the pogs egg

48:39 RIP I was expecting this play :)
**the title is "Capacity Catastrophe"**
**run starts without Umbra**
Oh no.
Horn Break is actually a very useful card.
There are a lot of enemies that come in with high armor and low HP that it yeets instantly.
48:04 "Top 10 phrases said before tragedy"
You got to love hearing NL doing all those winning plans only to betray them immediately.
3 minutes in and he's already using flash freeze to deal one damage to the back unit instead of on the boss to deal 39 damage
By killing the back unit you reduce the damage your units take from 13 to 8, so not the best, but not the worst either
Yeah, but what he did then was deal 12 damage to the boss with two frozen lances. If he used torch to kill the back unit instead, he could have flash frozen the boss and used one frozen lance, for a total of 45 damage

I don't blame you. A champion upgrade that renders the champion unplayable is just not something one expects out of an upgrade. Still, gg anyway.
20:10 Also, something I recently learned, if a unit has a slay trigger, it will also proc if that unit has spikes and an enemy dies on those spikes. So putting spikes on the sweeper with a slay trigger is a really good move.

That was an outstanding punt. Totally changed field position.
Pogged outta my gourd for another episode, thanks for the company brother
"Another Day, Another Deck" - Sounds to me like Eggman got captured by the good Freelancer Sailor life, can't say I blame him....

fun runs! especially that end.
42:01 that face haha incredible monkaS
Awoken Clan at the start was a true believer in "Never tell me the odds"
Regardless of how it turned out, the real win is that it was an entertaining watch.
Loving the Capacity Catastrophe series so far!

Exactly. They have a lot more utility there, especially for Stygian/spell weakness builds
Those cards are Scourges, not Blights, unless they patched it very recently that does not work that way.
NL just refusing to play Train stewards makes my day.
13:54 My man is really using the summation formula, actual god gamer
Except he still got the formula wrong, n(n + 1)/2
Oh my goodness, love the ending! I totally would have done the same thing.
The moment I realized NL had a 6 capacity creature and only 5 capacity, I was in shock, and wept for the Eggfather.
34:45 I feel like you're a mad man to not put Holdover on Unleash The Wildwood.

BTW they buffed hellhound champion yesterday, now he's much better and more fun to play!
Oh thank god. Hellhorned was the worst clan by far on high covenants because the champ was useless for so long.
I was wondering if he'd ever manage to make a unit so big he couldn't play it. He never seemed to acknowledge that the champion upgrades increased their capacity cost so I figured he just never realized it.
All of my wins have had Hellhorn involved. So far Hellhorn/Umbra combo is my favorite. Keep up the great content. Loving this game so far

Lmaoooo his champion got too big I’m dead. Oh NL never change
One of the best eggbrainfarts we had so far in this game.
I feel like Stygian guard is just cursed beyond belief
One thing you should know is that you are guaranteed to draw a unit on every turn if any are in your deck.
capacity catastrophe is my favourite game of 2023
"Capacity is not necessary" famous last words lol
Upgrading Penumbra was a very bruh moment
Absolutely pogged series, loving every episode!
Razorsharp Edge can be used to kill a 1- 2 HP unit at the back of a row, it's very helpful for the first few levels

24:20 You can get gold here with Razorsharp edge (that's kinda stupid, but it works)
If that's true that's fucking amazing.

Same here aha
48:02 Oh no, I know where this is going.
Algorithmic Juice installation in coming .. man I did that to myself as well, that trample is so tempting :D
Algorithmic Juice - now available at any neighborhood Northern Lion store "Taste the Likes!"
Anytime you have a sweep unit you almost always want to put quick on them.
Pogtrain went off the rails somewhat
I’ve lost two runs taking full trample panumbra without thinking to increase capacity lol
NL using the cheat code in the beginning. You thought you were sly but I caught you on camera!

Not putting Holdover on Wildwood seems like a misplay, passed up the opportunity to full heal every turn for 0
NL that first curse option is 3 mana for 100 damage. Combine that with spell weakness and it slaps.
Except the Calcified Embers purge and it's not spell damage, it's good with vengeful shard but not great on its own.
I like this content and more people deserve to be pogged up too!

Loving the content, brother, keep it up!
Your videos are my two minutes lovehate. Great video.
One minute in and it's already Comedy gold
The Awakened do seem to be pretty good though...
69 pyre health, by the way. Nice.
Back to the good old StS days of multiple losses per video. And it's only Covenant 7 out of 25.

hold over on non-consume invigorating solution is a 1 mana trade for 3 extra draw... useful tip for next time
