- Upgrade your livestreams and Zoom calls and use Canon M50 as a webcam. To use Canon M50 as a webcam, you've got two options: capture card or EOS Webcam Utility. I'll show you both these methods and share the pros and cons between the two.

Thank you so much for this video! This is the only video I can find where they mentioned that the EOS Utility was different than the EOS Webcam Utility. I had deleted all the drivers and everything while troubleshooting a problem I had and only downloaded the EOS Utility again and was wondering why it wouldn't work. Once I downloaded the EOS Webcam Utility again it works perfect lol Thanks again.🙌🏾

Thank you for this video. That is a lot of help! As to clean HDMI output, on the Mark I, it's a simple solution with only one button. That is the "Info" button on the backside of the camera. Press this, and you have clean output 😉 And also, you can buy a power supply adapter for the camera, with a dummy battery. Then you have unlimited battery, and if you record to e.g. Camtasia, you may record as long as you want to.
but the MK1 will still shutdown the HDMI after ~30min -> Resulting in a Black Signal. Kind of useless.

yes
eos is a virtual cam, not a software, so it's listed in your video capture software as a recording source.
When i connect my m50 mkII to my PC, on the camera display screen it show charging the camera through my PC, thus not making me able to connect as a webcam to OBS. ( on the camera screen shows a battery and a laptop indicating its charging.) Any solutions???
I have a question - I have the M50 mkII set up with a capture card but it seems to stop after a couple of minutes and I have to keep refreshing the video source to get it to come back - do you know what causes that and how to fix it?

Just about the Canon M50I which is the older version. You do have a clean HDMI, you just need to press the INFO button a few times and u will get the Clean HDMI output.
Ah yes you're right! But I think if you enable certain features like AutoFocus it will still be visible.
@@HustleSavvy you're right but the autofocus on M50 isn't that great so I always Manuel focus the area I want and use it like that but I still have a problem with it that the video freezes for me. If u have a solution for it, would be great
@@TheMZ11 I'm using the M50 with settings for short film shooting, 30fps, 60 shutter etc and mine seems great in autofocus. It's not so great at 4K tho, it could be the problem but i've never had a freeze

My m 50 seems to turn off every 30 minutes using the capture card and theres no way to keep it on vs the webcam utility software. Is there any way around this?
3:30 you can get a clean screen by pressing the info button a few times, hope that helps

So from my understanding is that even though the EOS webcam utility is a lower resolution, it’s uncompressed so it still looks pretty good. I could be wrong though
I'm using my Canon M50 with the crop sensor and my pancake 22mm F/2.0 lens, and the image quality is fantastic! if it's compressed at all I'd be very surprised

How do you work around the battery issue?
You can get a dummy battery which you can then connect to a power socket. Check out the link in my description under "my recording equipment (desktop)".
I currently use my iPhone7 for recording video for my channels. I’m considering upgrading my camera. I have a friend who is selling his Canon M50 Mark II camera with a 3 axis gimbal, an extra manual lens, four additional batteries, an additional battery charger, a camera carrying case, a continuous charger for filming, a camera protector for shooting outside in the rain. He’s asking $650. Any thoughts?

I've never tried Aperture Priority Mode for this before. I suspect it won't work (maybe it will with capture card method🤷♂️)

I am getting clean HDMI with my Cannon M50 version 1.1.0. I just press the Info button until the screen is clean. Occasionally when moving the camera around a lot, I see the focus box come up, but that doesn't happen often. My issue is that I can only set the display off timer to 30 min. After that the stream stops. I'll try keeping connected to EOS Utility 3 to see if that keeps the display on. Otherwise I have to press the shutter button a few times.
You were already able to use the camera for more than 30 minutes in streaming? or are you still having the problem?

EOS webcam software is horrible. They make you pay now to get full 1080p. I paid and the login on the utility doesn't work. It didn't recognize I paid. I'm on Windows 10. Canon really failed with this software.

Hi, my capture card video quality is over-saturated (like most peoples with this cheap card). How did you get yours to not over-saturate?
I may not be able to give an accurate solution without looking at your setup, but here are some things I did:
1) Use the right kind of lighting and ensure there is enough of it.
2) When using the software to livestream / record video , tweak the settings to change brightness, saturation, etc.
3) If it's a video recording, you can also take it a step further by doing some colour correction and colour grading in your video editing software

I have very recently run into the issue that my video is compressed to 576p. No matter if I use my camlink4k or the software, it automatically compresses it to 576p. The weird thing is that it just worked earlier this morning.I have installed the software(s) multiple times again and again. It still always defaults to the horrible output. Anyone have any ideas, what the reason might be?
If you're using EOS Webcam software, it will always remain at 576p. If you're using a capture card, check the settings on your camera as well as the other software you are using e.g. Zoom.
Before i get the Capture Card, I need to make sure i bought the camera too🤣
Another thing I don’t understand is why we have iPhone apps that let us use our phones as webcams at 1080p over usb 2.0 but canon webcam utility can’t do 1080p. Just kind of weird

I've looked all over. The webcam utility is no longer available. all the links given on TH-cam channels speaking on the matter are giving the classic 404 error. Anyone have any follow-up?
That's weird I can access it just fine. Which region are you from? Maybe their website redirected you based on your location.

as of 2024 unfortunately if you want quality higher than 720p on EOS Webcam and the REGULAR Utility, you have to pay for a monthly subscription from Canon themselves... give one more point to the capture card... xD

I keep getting an error that I don't have sufficient privileges to start system services.
But the delay on the cheapest capture cards is extreme. Several hundred milliseconds. That cannot be ignored!
I'm still confused. Been messing around with trying to set my camera up as a webcam for over a month and nothing. I guess my iPhone camera wins again.
oh whaou videos are downscaled to 576p, i guess it's to prevent overheating for long period use, such as fulltime streamer usualy does. theses cams are expesives, so, maybe it's better to only uses it for special occasions, better than for everyday streams. just saying. but if you're billionar, like everyone who has fancy gtx3090, you won't care about that recommendation ^^
