It's quite easy to keep a straight face because these people are mentally vulnerable in some way that's exactly why they fall for the trick and why people who have been victimised in the past will get victimised repeatedly. I don't find it funny or amusing for people to be delusional. Sure the narcissism of some is annoying but even narcissistic personality disorder is a consequence of abuse in childhood. What's funny about that? Once you look past the superficial ridiculousness of the situation, it's very sad IMHO.

I think it's starting to be a thing though, on Instagram anyway. I've recently had an influencer (well known) and a couple of reality TV personalities (yes, I AM that shallow), all blue checked, ask to follow me. I have no content and have never commented on at least 2 of their pages. I figured its some new thing to keep subscribers. Like their social media managers go through and ask to follow everyone all at once. It may not be so obviously a manipulation for someone who has content and is active on the platform.

I've binge watched these videos and honestly, these things are starting to look like interventions with a drug addict. These (mostly) women are absolutely addicted/hooked to the dopamine and the fantasy these scammers are bringing to them...and some of the women can't seem to tear themselves away from the addiction, even when confronted with the truth. The idea that these men would be reaching out to a woman 25 years older than them is absurd, whereas for most people this would be what alerted them to it being a scam but for this lady, it was actually what pulled her in.
That's what these Nigerian men look for what you put on Facebook tells them a lot about you and then they play on your emotions and insecurities and they create a fantasy that you would love to have. Then Hook line and sinker they've got you

You know people who fall for these scams most times have narcissistic tendencies and a grand sense of self hence, when someone comes to bombard them with worship they don’t question it. They bask in it and want it to continue
One of the common threads among these victims is a false ego. They seem to suffer from low self esteem and cover it with bravado. They all claim to be better and smarter than those around them. This might be why they don’t listen when others try to help them. This disconnect is one of the things that makes them so vulnerable.
One thing I CAN NOT understand is how any woman ( or man I guess) could "fall for" a person they have not shared a meal with....i.e. seen eating..... smelt their breath / their body... listened to their voice and how respectfully they speak to and treat other human beings,.... All these things are a huge part of falling in love. You fall in love with the WHOLE person not just how they look and how they write.
I kind of understand it. I've done online dating and you can get a bit infatuated just chatting online. The thing is to not do anything extreme before you meet. Because the minute you meet, all that infatuation can go right out the window. Even if they're a perfectly okay person, any number of irl things can make them unattractive as a romance partner. But I don't know how anyone could get the catfished women on this channel to believe that and act on it -- I think they must be mentally wired to get lost in the moment and let feelings decide everything. What they should be doing is insisting on meeting these guys asap, and not sending money or leaving their husbands or becoming "engaged" before they've seen the whites of his eyes, lol.

I learned from my dad he was born in 1905 in his late 20s started writing to a woman in Italy.. never did ask him how that actually happened..anyway .. after some months of writing they got engaged and only then did he travel from Scotland to Italy and he said as soon as he met her, he realised he didn’t want to marry her!!! He pondered all night as to what to do because back in the 30s in Italy if you were engaged and it was broken off no other man would come after you … so he decided to marry .. they were not happy after 4 children sadly she died of cancer … he then met my mum.. his experience always kept me away from anything to do with relationships remotely like that …
I’m 60. I still look pretty good. But I have zero delusions about my ability to have even friendships with these “men!” The top 1% of good looking men are NOT messaging middle age/old ladies! She obviously has no idea what sort of lifestyle these rich, extremely good looking people are leading.

Of course it’s perfectly reasonable that hot celebrities not just want to chat to ordinary (& ordinary looking) older people, and definitely have the time to chat to us for hours every single day. They are people too & they absolutely love having normal conversations with their fans about how they got their wallets stolen, got kidnapped, their bank accounts got frozen because of some psycho stalker stealing their identity, their new movies/TV shows are put on hold meaning they can’t access their funds temporarily, their guns got stolen & they need to pay to replace them, they need special food that they can’t get on set, or their pets/family members need an operation etc. I know this for a fact! Chris Hemsworth, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson & I talk about it all the time. It’s so sad the way so many people try to take advantage of them all the time. And how if you are a rich celebrity, people are always cutting you off from money. Especially Chris - he doesn’t carry cash anymore he’s been mugged so many times. Luckily I know that Chris & I are truly in love (since we’re both Australian we have loads in common!) & I’m best friends with Jason & Dwayne, so we can all talk about anything & I’m always able to help them. I know they’d do the same for me any time I needed it, but I’m so glad I have my savings & superannuation to help them in the meantime. When Chris finally tells Elsa that he needs to be with me (he just wants the kids to be a bit older so they can understand), he’ll treat me like the Princess that he calls me. We even started a business together so he can quit acting because it doesn’t make him happy. I can’t wait until we can be together openly. And he’s such a great guy. He doesn’t care that I’m 40yrs older than him or that I’m not in as good shape as him. He sees who I am on the inside! And when we can finally be together, he’ll help me become the fittest & healthiest I’ve ever been. And so will Jason & Dwayne, who are like, such awesome friends! They take such good care of me, sending me money to put in our joint accounts all the time. They’re teaching me how to invest it in the stock market & BitCoin. We’ve had a lot of bad luck so far, but I know it will turn around any day now & I’ll be a billionaire, so having to sell my house, car, collection of Peanuts memorabilia & my parent’s house won’t matter. Then we can all party together every day on Jason’s luxury cruise liner (it’s way bigger than a yacht! He sent me photos of it) as we travel around the world together. And they’re already such good friends & so sweet to each other. I’m so lucky I met all 3 of them 🥰 So don’t give up hope! It can happen to you too (romantic sigh) 💕 Can’t wait for next week too. @@BeckBeckGo she didn't diagnose em, just said the lady in the vid shows signs, which might be referring to symptom criteria from the DSM V, which anyone can find with a quick Google search and then compare the list to whoever they're thinking about (and it isn't wrong to do so, I'd love if more people were aware of mental conditions, education is so SO important! Although I prefer the way the newest edition of the ICD does personality disorders over the DSM V). People can be both victims and perpetrators. Even though people with narcissism struggle with a personality disorder, they can still cause harm to others, and others are allowed to be wary of that for their own safety, as with any other mental or physical condition. If someone is terrified by the fact my PTSD can make me hallucinate after an episode, they feel fear because they want to feel safe but don't, and fear isn't something you treat with hostility. It certainly didn't help when people treated me like I was crazy or a bitch for being afraid of men because of my past. Besides, everyone has traits of narcissism, whether from the DSM V or just what most people think of as narcissism, and it's not wrong to call that out when it's harming other people (especially since this person didn't say "This lady has NPD!", they said "This lady shows signs of narcissism."). This isn't as black and white as you make it out to be. Victims aren't perfect angels, perpetrators don't eat babies for breakfast. People can be and frequently are both, and you can still be wary of or call out a 'victim' for harmful behavior, and you should. No one is above reproach. No one.

One of the common threads among these victims is a false ego. They seem to suffer from low self esteem and cover it with bravado. They all claim to be better and smarter than those around them. This might be why they don’t listen when others try to help them. This disconnect is one of the things that makes them so vulnerable.

Of course it’s perfectly reasonable that hot celebrities not just want to chat to ordinary (& ordinary looking) older people, and definitely have the time to chat to us for hours every single day. They are people too & they absolutely love having normal conversations with their fans about how they got their wallets stolen, got kidnapped, their bank accounts got frozen because of some psycho stalker stealing their identity, their new movies/TV shows are put on hold meaning they can’t access their funds temporarily, their guns got stolen & they need to pay to replace them, they need special food that they can’t get on set, or their pets/family members need an operation etc. I know this for a fact! Chris Hemsworth, Jason Statham, Dwayne Johnson & I talk about it all the time. It’s so sad the way so many people try to take advantage of them all the time. And how if you are a rich celebrity, people are always cutting you off from money. Especially Chris - he doesn’t carry cash anymore he’s been mugged so many times. Luckily I know that Chris & I are truly in love (since we’re both Australian we have loads in common!) & I’m best friends with Jason & Dwayne, so we can all talk about anything & I’m always able to help them. I know they’d do the same for me any time I needed it, but I’m so glad I have my savings & superannuation to help them in the meantime. When Chris finally tells Elsa that he needs to be with me (he just wants the kids to be a bit older so they can understand), he’ll treat me like the Princess that he calls me. We even started a business together so he can quit acting because it doesn’t make him happy. I can’t wait until we can be together openly. And he’s such a great guy. He doesn’t care that I’m 40yrs older than him or that I’m not in as good shape as him. He sees who I am on the inside! And when we can finally be together, he’ll help me become the fittest & healthiest I’ve ever been. And so will Jason & Dwayne, who are like, such awesome friends! They take such good care of me, sending me money to put in our joint accounts all the time. They’re teaching me how to invest it in the stock market & BitCoin. We’ve had a lot of bad luck so far, but I know it will turn around any day now & I’ll be a billionaire, so having to sell my house, car, collection of Peanuts memorabilia & my parent’s house won’t matter. Then we can all party together every day on Jason’s luxury cruise liner (it’s way bigger than a yacht! He sent me photos of it) as we travel around the world together. And they’re already such good friends & so sweet to each other. I’m so lucky I met all 3 of them 🥰 So don’t give up hope! It can happen to you too (romantic sigh) 💕 Can’t wait for next week too. Chris said he’s going to fly me out to meet him on Hayman Island in a private plane! Sooooo excited I feel like a little kid! @@BeckBeckGo she didn't diagnose em, just said the lady in the vid shows signs, which might be referring to symptom criteria from the DSM V, which anyone can find with a quick Google search and then compare the list to whoever they're thinking about (and it isn't wrong to do so, I'd love if more people were aware of mental conditions, education is so SO important! Although I prefer the way the newest edition of the ICD does personality disorders over the DSM V).
People can be both victims and perpetrators. Even though people with narcissism struggle with a personality disorder, they can still cause harm to others, and others are allowed to be wary of that for their own safety, as with any other mental or physical condition. If someone is terrified by the fact my PTSD can make me hallucinate after an episode, they feel fear because they want to feel safe but don't, and fear isn't something you treat with hostility. It certainly didn't help when people treated me like I was crazy or a bitch for being afraid of men because of my past.
Besides, everyone has traits of narcissism, whether from the DSM V or just what most people think of as narcissism, and it's not wrong to call that out when it's harming other people (especially since this person didn't say "This lady has NPD!", they said "This lady shows signs of narcissism."). This isn't as black and white as you make it out to be. Victims aren't perfect angels, perpetrators don't eat babies for breakfast. People can be and frequently are both, and you can still be wary of or call out a 'victim' for harmful behavior, and you should. No one is above reproach. No one.
