People like this make themselves believe, they would constantly imagine things being true and ignore the apparent signs that it's a scam. In a way, it's sad because most likely they do that because they are lonely or scared of being alone. But it's also mind boggling.
My friend who is very wealthy got such a crush on a German TV presenter she flew to Germany believing she would meet him and he would leave his girlfriend for her! Trying to tell her this was a fantasy and he will not communicating with her psychically was dismissed. But she tells stories to all of us of having Hollywood celebs as close personal friends. We know it's not true, but she goes to conventions to meet actors pays to get her photo taken with them so she can tell people on social media she knows them. What can you do? She is not committing a crime. She is a nice person very caring. Everyone knows this is some fantasy she lives in but to insert reality is met with derision and avoidance. So we put up with it and smile and shake our heads yes yes how nice for you.
This woman is 100% paying for the fantasy. She even said she’s always wanted someone famous and high profile. This is totally fantasy fulfillment role play.

She only got an undergrad degree. It's only worth something if you will use the BS as a stepping stone. For a graduate program and a masters or PhD.
I'm only one person, but everyone I know who obtained their b.s. in psychology went into the major because they had their own issues or because they had to get a degree in somrthing and didn'tk ow what else to get it in. One of my good friends from back in high school has her doctorate and is now a marriage and family counselor... she's getting a divorce herself right now and has a rocky relationship (not the case growing up) with her immediate family. It just appears to be a pattern.

I feel so awful for her. I think she absolutely knows the truth the whole time she's messaging these men. She says she doesn't, but deep down she has to. I don't think she just feels entitled to a celebrity either. I think after her abusive relationship she's scared of having any other real relationship. The fantasy of this is safe for her. She's continually self sabotaging herself to end up alone because that's all she knows. It's more like self harm to ease her loneliness.

I have MS and belong to a lot of not only MS support groups but chronic illnesses support groups. After my divorce I decided to check out a Facebook dating site for the disabled. Omg!! Literally ALL profiles of drop dead gorgeous bombshells with what are obviously breast implants! In bikinis and wet t shirts. Look for yourself! The poor guys actually believe these women are real. I'll even do a reverse image search, screenshot the real person whose picture was stolens photos and post it. These men for the most part pay no attention. It's very sad. I was only on there a month or so

Like my friend's dad who sent over $50k to a young Romanian woman who said she was in love with him and was going to come visit.. At least in her case, she would video chat with him all the time, sometimes for hours if he wanted. His daughter thinks he knew the woman was just out for money and telling him what he wanted to hear, but he figured it was worth it to pay to talk to a pretty young women on cam all the time. But at least in his case, he did see her, she would dance around wearing lingerie, etc. The people on Social Catfish don't even get a video chat with the person and send money just for texting

Their disconnect from reality allows them to accept that they sent thousands to a scammer. The money itself becomes unreal, as it does under the lights of Las Vegas, where the ATM machines dispense what might seem like play money to some.
It is absolutely bizarre to me how these celebrity romance scammers always say things like _"I really want to see you but my management is very strict"_ or _"You need to pay a fee to my manager to see/talk me"_ or _"My manager won't let me use my money to..."_ and stuff like that. As if a celebrity's manager is their pimp or something and controls their bank accounts/who they're allowed to speak with.
This is only ONE example of how incredibly unrealistic and ridiculous these celebrity scams are, yet somehow, SOMEHOW... people still fall for them and it continues to work. 🤦♀️

I think these folks know deep down inside that they are being conned, but they are in love with the feeling they get from the attention. So they are paying for that feeling, it's euphoric to them. Some woman in the US just recently got sentenced to serious prison time for scamming even though it was really her because they proved she had no intention of being with the old guy she was talking to. That was using her real info, real photos, etc. It was considered elder abuse due to manipulation. Everything needs to be paid back too. There's very strict rules actually.
The scam artist tried to scam her a second time by telling her who he really was.
When i told my doctor ill be studying psychology, he said if im thinking of fixing myself, it wont work. This lady needs to see a professional psychologist to help her.

They always answer wrong, and I can genuinely tell you its wrong, without a doubt in my mind. They do it because they WANT to believe they're special and confirm that they're special. Any other answer is a bold faced lie. Being a nobody and having a rich celebrity reach out to you is Cinderella syndrome. You want to believe so badly you're worth something more, you're a diamond in the rough, special beyond measure and that someone is going to acknowledge that about you and save you from your current problems. You're not looking for love, you're looking for a solution to your own problems. Reflect and grow, become a person that can potentially bag themselves someone that actually does love them and can make you feel special, and will work together with you. Not some random celebrity that just points you out of a crowd and says "I want that one."

If you get desperate then it's easy to lose sight of reality and throw yourself at completely ridiculous romantic endeavours, it seems. I suspect this lady is quite religious and needs to marry someone before she can consider sex, so that in itself enhances her need to find a partner and marry them pronto, in ways that might not affect others.
I like to think that if this lady sat down and described this situation to herself, there would be at least a small amount of self awareness creeping in for a few seconds until the desperation took hold again.

I do feel sorry for her, her abusive relationship definitely scarred her for life, and I understand why she wants these "safe" (fake) relationships. She tricks herself into believing she's in a relationship, but without the risks of being physically and sexually abused again.
