The little light with the seatbelt on it means KEEP YOUR SEATBELT FASTENED.
@@MarieForet They always say when you are seated, keep your seatbelt fastened.
@@MarieForet it's because they are dumb but legends in their own minds. Smarten up Marie.
and they are told that verbally too. I hope the airline Sues those passengers for damaging their plane.
You're allowed to take it off when the light goes out...I done it many times...but I'm no dummy these days😂 buckle up! Like Boeing says
It doesn’t need to be on for you to keep that seatbelt on btw.
Guarantee you this “keep your seatbelts fastened at all times” will still be ignored by many people. 🤨
@@MarieForet every flight I’ve been on, the captain always says “please keep your seatbelt fastened even if the sign if off in case of unexpected turbulence.” They can’t keep the sign on for an entire 8 hour flight so they have to do the next best thing.
@@MarieForet there is no problem. The captain will turn it off once they’ve reached a safe cruising altitude, but still recommend that you keep it on. That’s the point. They can experience unexpected turbulence. If they detect it in advance, they will turn the sign back on. I’m not sure what else you think they should or can do.
@@MarieForet ok, I got you. The problem is that it would be impractical because people wouldn’t be able to go to the restroom or stand up to stretch and it would be confusing to have meal service going while the sign is still on.
@@stefanossmitty3318 All the time is impractical; but as much as possible is not. And, in turbulence, whether the seat belt sign is lit or not, you have an obligation to yourself to keep yourself from being stupid. You also have an obligation to those sitting around you to keep from becoming an uncontrolled human missile inside an aluminum or carbon fiber tube.
@@MarieForet And this is what they get. It's a new world.
Turbulence over open ocean has to be one of the most terrifying things
YES !! Just know all that’s beneath is rough crashing waves 😩
It’s fact that turbulence won’t bring a plane down. 2 failure engines is terrible over ocean
I can only imagine what happened to those in the toilet💀
Nope. Not at all. An improperly trouqued fastner is more of a killer vs clear air turbulence at altitude.
@@Rocket_Man.😮Yuck and ouch.
Ummm....did you REALLY just say, "It's unclear how he got there?" Really. I think it pretty darn clear. 🤭🤕
this report is an moron, people are getting dumber and dumber each day that passes
He was sleepwalking, obviously.
seriously! it's pretty obvious he was hiding there the whole time and was only exposed because of the turbulence.
Maybe he was a stowaway!

I guess no one learned their lesson from watching the Singapore Airlines turbulence
These are long haul flights. This particular one almost 13 hours long. You do have to get up at some point to use the restroom and stretch your legs
@@Belenshares Well I mean that's true but 23 people usually don't go to the restroom at once
@@kadenzheng9159You actually can still get injured when those bags and trays fly towards you.
history teaches us that history teaches us nothing
@@Belenshares I am airline crew working a flight right now actually. And the amount of people not wearing their seatbelt right now…. No… only a select few actually learn.
I was in a plane once with really bad turbulance. It was sudden and quick that one passenger got thrown out of his seat and his head smash into the top of the plane. The pilot made an emergency landing in Buffalo and they took the guy out in a stretcher, with one of those spinal support braces. Every since then, I always have my seatbelt on, TIGHT
It shouldn't be tight, I mean it's up to you but it shouldn't. Even a pilot talking about this said that please do keep your seat belts on but they don't have to be tight, keep them loose he said
Thanks Lord for your peace
It’s about directional protection. A loose seatbelt will hold you in place against vertical forces like these, but if you were in a crash or rough landing situation you want it tight for lateral forces. Of course, too loose and you could slip out from under it.
Three weeks ago a dude died breaking his neck on the ceiling and travelers still sit unbuckled.
Wear your seatbelts. I don't care about your safety. I just don't want you slamming into me.
Secondary injuries are a real danger in heavy turbulence. A 230lb person falling can cause neck and limb injuries to the seated passenger.
Such a selfish comment. My goodness.
I think that's the point. Imagine if everyone on the plane was selfish like this? @@jasonjones7205

So at least we know who isn’t wearing their seat belts

I think the solution is to encourage diaper wearing on planes so people will be safer and not need to move about the cabin.

Turbulence happens. Seatbelts are there for a reason...
Why do the media spot such inane statements?
for clicks, likes, etc
What do you mean? They are just reporting it.
What do you mean it’s unclear how he got stuck in the roof? Obviously, strong turbulence launched him into the baggage compartment. Why do reporters say stupid things??
I hope all the injured passengers heal well and heal quickly.
There have been a fair amount of these unexpected turbulence cases lately. It’s probably best to keep the seatbelts on. Head, neck, back and spine injures can leave lifelong injuries.
Hahahahaha. I laughed out loud. You don’t know why he’s in the roof? I wasn’t there and I know how. 😂
how do you know he wasn't already there before turbulence hit?
He’s been up there for 5 years. The finally found him.
I keep my seatbelt on for the entire flight.
Rumors say he tried to join the mile high club and had to take off his seatbelt in order to get it done ;)
Flights across the equator of the Atlantic ocean experience turbulence pretty often. I would ALWAYS have my seatbelts on, unless I have to use the washroom.
I just got home from a 20-hour flight to China (40+ hours roundtrip) and I wore my seatbelt the entire time. I only took it off to go to the bathroom. I'm terrified of this happening to me
"Sending passengers without seatbelts on, FLYING!"
Me when i'm on the toilet: "Not now, not now, not now."
Hard to feel bad when you get hurt from ignoring basic flight safety rules.
I can’t speak for the Atlantic Ocean airspace but I know Central and South America are known to have very bumpy routes, especially over the Ande’s.
They were on the opposite side as the Andes and over ocean
@@AliciaGuitar Yes… that’s why I mentioned I was unfamiliar with the Atlantic area. I was just pointing out that the whole region seems to prone to extreme turbulence.
In many cases, the Fasten Seatbelt sign is off during most of the flight, but prudent passengers keep theirs on. They don't have to be snug and tight, but even if you have a few inches of play in them. they'll keep you from lifting out of your seat during turbulence.
Severe turbulence is almost impossible to detect on radar. In storms they'll show up on radar (which detects water droplets), but they can be in clear air (called Clear Air Turbulence) and undetected.
After what happened with the Singapore flight, I still don’t know why people sit without putting on their seatbelts.
Lol, the guy getting stuck in the ceiling like from The Office...😂
Isn’t that route directly passing through the hurricane Beryl’s trajectory?
I think so😂
Probably flew through the back end of the hurricane.
maybe even the eye considering where certain folks got stuck
This is why you should always keep your seat belts fastened even if the seat belt light is off because you never know when turbulence might strike, you can't see it, you never know when it will comes and when it does it happens instantly.
Hope everyone recovers. Keep that seat belt on!
Now the guy in the ceiling has to pay extra for the unlimited legroom.
Why is this a thing now? Seems strange.
because passengers refuse to wear their seat belts
No, because there is now violent turbulence or plane malfunctions happening now, and there didn’t used to be.
What do you mean
Climate change creates more invisible "air pockets," which lead to sudden plane drops. Severe turbulence will be the new normal, sadly.
Because of global warming there is a far more frequent occurrence of warm air rising from ground level and mixing with the cold air found at higher attitudes, these mixing results in chaotic air patterns since hot air wants to rise but cold air wants to fall, but if they meet each other there will be pressure from above and bottom creating these turbulences.
The best way to visualise it is think about oil floating in water and then you start mixing it, that chaotic flow is literally what happens in the atmosphere.
The plane flying through that gets hit by these caothic winds causing loss of lift.
How come no commentors blamed Boeing? Not wearing seat belts during turbulence? Pilot and non-compliant passengers to blame. Smart passengers wear the seatbelt loosely as much as possible. Uncomfortable? So is being embedded in the overhead bins. Your choice.

Rather be safe than sorry. Was recently on a domestic flight where pilot delayed drink service and had seatbelt sign on to pass through a turbulance area. Have been wondering when will dynamic flight time flights and departure time that evade any bad weather will come. I will def buy that one
Supposedly night time is the best time to fly, as the climate tends to cool down, so it becomes much more predictable and there’s less turbulence. I’ve also read that there are tools to predict turbulence, I think it’s an expensive tool so airlines haven’t adopted them yet.
Maybe it’s time to legalize seatbelts in moving aircraft. Click it or ticket. 😅
