I took a flight with Air Algerie and instantly regretted it. Watch this video to find out why...
OFFICIAL NOEL MERCH: www.noelphilips.com
If guess if you want to fly and be left alone, Air Algerie is your airline. I suspect you might be able to light up a cigarette, and no one would say anything.
Only if you share one with the pilot and lead hostess
I sat next to a camel once...
😂😂😂😂
Egypt Air used to tolerate people smoking in business class even though it wasn’t officially allowed.
@@betrousaltaweel Not any more?
Putting the issues with not picking up trash, not welcoming passengers.... the safety issues on Air Algeria are deeply concerning. When airline crew are so lax when it comes to securing doors, checking seatbelts and making sure seats are in the upright position, it shows a general lack of care. Safety checks should not be optional on a "bad day". What else are they careless about? Engine maintenance? General safety checks of the plane? Kinda scary.
When this airline crashes one day then they may pull their socks up
As an Algerian, I want to say that my country is one of the most corrupt countries
The largest maintenance workshop in Africa is located in Algeria... I am talking about maintaining the engines and the rest of the plane’s parts... As for the issue of cleanliness and arrangement of the plane from the inside, that is another matter.
@@zohier75 Africa should never be a reference for anything, could be the largest in africa but the shittiest by europe standars
i can assure you that air algerie has a great maintenance service, i've been there.
Welcome to AIR ALGERIE, we could not possibly care less.
The fact that you sat on the exit row and received no briefing raises big questions about the safety of this airline.
wrong..briefing is only for passengers seated in rows directly in an emergency exit, his seat is only close to an exit, separated by the wall
There are Flight Attendants by that exit. never seen an airline having a briefing card there, so you could argue that this is actually safer than other airlines lol
I have sat in exist seats prior to covid and was brief. After covid, I've never been briefed. I fly 4 times internationally per year.

Well Noel, that’s a very VERY generous and understanding description of the Air Algerie cabin crew on your first leg. Crew members that serve the passengers are the reason why aviation is the safest mode of transport. If they aren't there, eventually there will be situations where some passenger is standing when the plane hits the ground, possibly in the lavatory etc. That can really kill someone, so it's not a minor violation of safety. Especially concerning when it's dark outside and people don't know when the plane will hit the ground. I've seen videos where there were people sleeping on the economy row without seatbelts on, no crew, and the plane just started to land. I think we need to speak up against these kinds of practices. Poor customer service on the other hand is something that won't physically harm anyone.
> Poor customer service on the other hand is something that won't physically harm anyone.
Unless it means you can't get a drink. Staying hydrated is more important on an aeroplane because you don't really notice how quickly you dry out.
"Poor customer service on the other hand is something that won't physically harm anyone" Is that an excuse? Besides being a common courtesy, good service will bring in business.
If your flight crew doesn't brief the people in the emergency exits, nor do they check people's seatbelts nor do they take trash away, you're only one bad turbulence or emergency landing away from actual physical harm.

I don’t think they’re trying hard at all. From the video, it appears safety is an afterthought. How does an airline allow their planes to be that disgusting? It appears it’s just rude people, with no pride in what they do.
I live in algeria and flew with them a couple of times and to be honest the experience is different from flight to flight sometimes it's clean and the crew is nice and other times they are horrible and they make you board the plane then stay in it for an hour with the a/c off before takeoff !

Maybe it's done for security reasons. When j went to Guinea-Bissau last year I had my passport checked 2 times:
The first time, I was stamped out of the country and the second time by Portuguese immigration officers (because Guinea-Bissau is a known hot-spot for people trafficking).
I'm Algerian myself and thank you for exposing the state of the airline to the world.
However my experience tells me the situation is more variable that you think, you can get absolutely filthy planes and poor service on one trip (especially these landing in Algiers) and clear planes and great service on another trip (especially for these taking off from Algiers).
The airline is well known for bad management, and while some efforts seems to be made (2 A350 and 5 A330neo are on order) way more should be done. May the airline's upper management see this video.

Hi Noel,
In Canada, passengers are randomly selected for a primary bag inspection before the x-ray (usually they just swab your belongings and test it for illegal substances). What happened there is that you were one of the “randomly” selected passengers for that inspection. During the x-ray part of the process your bag may be selected again for inspection due to something that was observed through the x-ray (I don’t know if that was the case as you don’t show that part of the process in your video).
Why?
Your videos are so informative and relatable! There’s nothing worse than paying good money for a product or service and then being treated like a freeloader and like they are doing you a favor. 🤦♂️

You're a whole lot kinder than I would have been.
I’m a FA. Even though you are closest to the exit, you do not require a briefing because there is the bulkhead separating you from the exit door. Exit briefing only needed for passengers with “direct access” meaning there is no separation between their seat and the exit door.

LOL, do you think they care? They are the most corrupt
Hi Noel,
I‘m a flight attendant and at most airlines an emergency exit briefing ist not mandatory, if a cabin crew member is seated at the exit.
I’m pretty sure what happened at Montreal Airport security is that you went into the Business Class/Visa Infinite Privilege line and instead of letting you go straight to security, the CATSA employee decided to randomly select you for an additional check. The same thing can happen in the other section (Economy) but because of the higher passenger volumes, it’s obvious it’s a “random selection”. A pre-check before security is not standard for every passenger at Canadian airports.
Thanks for taking the risk flying with Air Algeria. Brave man.
"Hello, bonjour and sacre bleu..." 😂👍
The only experience I have had on a business class flight that was worse than this was on EgyptAir from Johannesburg to Madrid. The angled seat was awful, the crew was utterly lazy and sullen, the food was inedible and it was impossible to get a drink.

As an experienced aircraft mechanic, I can tell you that getting onto an airplane with indications that nobody really cares is paramount to playing Russian roulette. You are at the mercy of numerous people who literally have your life in their hands. When something happens to that aircraft due to somebody not doing their job, there is NOTHING you can do, but ride it to the ground. A passenger boarding the Hawaiian jet that lost it's top in flight, noticed several rivets missing before she boarded, but got on anyway. Go figure!

In October of last year, I flew from Heathrow to Algiers and then Algiers to Abidjan, and I am pretty sure the crew were smoking in the toilets during the second leg of my travel. I can't confirm this, but it definitely smelled of cigarettes during the flight. If I paid that much id be pissed
I think the concern was about not generalizing one crew’s performance to every crew, and a discomfort with having so many shortfalls to include in the review.
I do love your restraint on not slating them. I do like watching your videos as unlike quite a few other aviation TH-camrs, no names mentioned. CoughSamChuiCough. You actually pay your way to fly and will give an honest review. Keep them coming 👍
