That targetting rule , and the instant replay offical calling the penalties is the best rule I've seen in football. NFL need to inact it like yesterday.
I’m very late to reply but there’s a major difference between college and professional football and that’s the fact that one’s a full career and the other is not. NFL players get payed and college doesn’t. It’s also slightly more important to protect the college players more as most of them don’t play professionally and do other careers instead. Playing professional is more of a career and as such it has more risks to playing.
The high hit seems to have got him in the facemask....not completely clear but there does seem to be a recoil that indicates he did clobber him in the front of the facemask. The low hit was fine.
Do players not realize if you break someone’s neck or hit in a place that they can’t recover from you could kill them instantly it’s crazy how careless they are
It's the emotions of the game. What really annoys me is people complaining about the targeting rule and saying it's making the game soft. They dont realize a life can change instantly when you pay football and stopping that even a little helps

I wonder how many of the football players talking about suffering concussions are players delivering these targeting hits....that has to do as much damage as receiving a hit!
Here is an idea. For the team whose player committed the targeting and gets ejected from the game, how about that teams defense loses that position for the rest of the game. In other words, that defense plays the rest of the game with 10 players instead of 11. I would bet that after one or two times, the occurrence of targeting would go down greatly.
This head targeting bullshit and using your helmet as a weapon isn't an old school thing anyway. It's a relatively recent development. The entire argument that the game is soft now because hitting guys in the head isn't allowed is a straw man argument.
Drew Morales facts dude I got into a heated fucking argument with someone over the vontese burfet or however tf you spell his name and it boiled down to “you think you can take that hit and be fine ?”
#5 from the MIZZOU-OKST clip should’ve been thrown out and suspended for the next game. Not only did he commit a targeting foul (which is auto ejection anyways), he also stood over him which is SUPPOSED TO BE “unsportsmanlike conduct”. So basically he committed two UC penalties.
I see a lot of "football" players who have bad technique. Either the coaches are not teaching them how to tackle properly or these players are not as tough as they think they are. I see players standing over someone else after a tackle-that tells me that player is immature and has a lot to learn. I see so many players with the improper tackling technique who pat themselves on the back after they perform an illegal hit. VERY WEAK!
Im gonna say it...half of these calls are absolutely ridiculous. I understand that they are trying to make the game safer but some of these calls are just dumb. Let the boys play football.
I think targeting needs to be revised keep it as a penalty but two different categories incidental and intentional. No ejection for incidental and ejection for intentional for and gone at least a half of following game (with potential for more time off depending on how serious the offense)
So glad this rule is in place. The game has gone from sportsmanship to violence. It's disgusting where attempting to hurt someone or worse is given more praise than playing the game fair.
