Some of these are just kinda... not targeting. You can get technical all day but some of these players are not going in to hurt others or make big hits and they barely cross the thin grey line in the motion theyre performing.

I guess most commenters here don't care that repeated blows to the head led to permanent brain damage. That is why the pros and colleges are enforcing this so rigorously. But, hey, as long as your team wins, who cares that the player that repeated hits like this and ends up like Muhammed Ali?

Here is an idea. For the team whose player committed the targeting and gets ejected from the game, how about that teams defense loses that position for the rest of the game. In other words, that defense plays the rest of the game with 10 players instead of 11. I would bet that after one or two times, the occurrence of targeting would go down greatly.

So not being an American I'm not used to helmets on football players,, in Australia our 3 codes of football,, the AFL,, NRL AND NRU,, they don't wear helmets,, and they don't do this targetting stuff,, it seems to me that having helmets allows players to use it as a weapon regardless of the risks,, yes in our 3 games you get what we call high tackles where you make contact with the head during a tackle but it's nothing like what you see in NFL,, don't get me wrong I understand why they were the helmets but when you see targeting so often it kinda negates the safety of the helmet
