electronic power steering shouldn't and doesn't feel disconnected.. in fact it's way more connected than hydraulic... it's pretty much direct contact ... but the unit itself has to scan the turning and calculate force to add to it and switch directions as fast as you do and some lag occurs which makes it feel so alien
I'm in the UK, here its automatically implied if you pass your test, you drive manual (i don't have actual figures, but i have never met anyone who could only drive auto) as we have separate licence's for manual or auto. manual means you can drive anything, but auto only is just that, you can not drive manual cars without retaking your driving test also it sounds like you have an advantage over some car thieves, as i own a car that is targeted by them a lot i would be pleased if i was you ;)
are there people that CAN NOT drive manual out there? I know a few that prefer auto's (normally city workers who have to deal with loads of traffic) But I've never known or even heard of anyone that can not drive manual
7's ok until you have to do a last second steering input at high speed in a car with 6 gears its bad enough(it feels like the steering power has been decreased) but 7 would be even worse
The 7th gear is just for fuel economy. It's a much more fun and engaging transmission that the overpriced and boring dual klutz automatic with flappy paddles. That gets boring after about 5 minutes. The manual gives you control and fun with driving the car
maxpowers3732 Porsche don't call their system Dual Klutz. It's PDGay. Agree totally with your comments, though. It wouldn't be so bad if Porsche manuals were bad or hard to use, but they're not. They're amonst the best that it's still possible to get. I guess that most modern Porsche owners just want something easy and hassle free to drive, and for some reason think that a Mercedes doesn't quite fit with their rakish and dynamic self-image. Thanks to them, the rest of us get dumbed-down, watered-down 911s. Awesome.
colin5577 Lol. If someone wants to buy a boring, automatic sports car that's certainly their right, but I'm offended by them pushing the automatic so hard that it's tough to buy a manual. Like you said, the manual is awesome! The automatic is like someone giving you a pill instead of your favorite food and saying it's more efficient. Driving a sports car is all about savoring the driving experience, which includes picking what gear you want to be in
maxpowers3732 Totally agreed and it is a bit depressing. On counts that I make a Porsche forecourts, PDK seems to run at over 90% in the UK. Marketing departments have done a great job of pushing the advantages of things like PDK and electric steering by disguising them as customer benefits, when the reality is that it plays to the benefit of the production line and build costs more than anything else. The ultimate evolution of this sort of stuff is the new Macan, where a bit of lipstick on an Audi Q5 produces a waiting list of 12 months. It won't be long before pretty much everything in the VW range can be made on the same production line using the same platform and the same parts. That's the disadvantage of appealing to the lowest common denominator. It ultimately means less choice overall, and less differentiation betweeen the remaining choices.
I love Tiff. He actually reviews cars and delivers tangible knowledge instead of trying to be the next great stand-up comedian.
That is why I love watching Fifth Gear more than CHM Top Gear and The Grand Tour.
No problem, we're pleased you guys like it. Make sure you're subscribed so you don't miss out.
Thank you for uploading content again!
Tiff does the best cornering and correction - accurate and aggressive. 1:40

don't you miss shifts with the 7 speed? it seems confusing and less precise than the 6 speed
Real men like Tiff drive manuals.

Still stunned at the 7 speed manual tho~
you are back :D
No HD?
Things that go vroom...
Yea top gear is good for a few laughs, but real gearheads love Fifth gear

Richard Hammond didn't like the new steering. :(
Maybe when you are going sideways, you wouldn't really notice it.

What is the music in 1:32?
The pourche nine11 allows me to experience my birth, my death and the present; all at once.
Man, if you don't need AWD, the new Boxster is sounding better than the 911, and looks better. I blame the looks of the Carrera GT in it.
awesome!
Well I'd get C4S over this. It's only my personal choice though.
people are hitting 2.7 sec 0-60s in this car stock
where did you get these absurd facts? maybe a Turbo S in launch control yes not this car..
Think he means 3.7. I've seen that number thrown around alot. Under 4 is pretty doable with pdk.
7 speed manual, WTF!

BYUUUTEEEE
real men never define what real men do ;)
You've just defined what you do though so?
Cool
So when he drive an automatic, he become not real man?
not really a review
0-60mph = 3.7/8 with PDK =)
FRIST!
USA USA USA!
Sounds like I offended someone. Are you insecure because you don't know how to drive a manual? You should be.
just a pity that they ruined the design, imo.
