Xalatath is the true 5D Chess player in WoW, not the Jailer, as she has been busy ever since The Black Empire fell, calculating her actions and disappearing when the time is right. and while she didnt like how we utilized her power in Legion, she is still playing her A-game.
One thing that has always stood out to me is that whispers in the game refer to *the* herald of the void but in interviews Blizzard staff are always careful to refer to Xalatath as *a* herald of the void.
that's just a scapegoat for them, they dont want to hear the populous whine "RETCON!" as they intend her to be much more than just some herald. in fact, SHE could've been the ruler of the Black Empire initially, before the Old Gods decided that they wanted to rule it.@@willythemailboy2
Do you think the Mantid and the Klaxxi will figure in the conflict we will see in The World Soul Saga? I remember the tour we were given when we completed the Dread Wastes campaign in MOP and were told that they would fight us in the future because of their ancient allegiance to a force that would be opposed to us.
It's my belief she was placed in that blade as a fail safe. This explains WHY when we went back to the days of the black empire, nzoth says I know you. He had seen the way the void was to win and it's why xalatath had to bargain with nzoth in bfa for her freedom and why nzoth said the blade must remain. Does anyone else find it strange the blade is still missing? If I'm a betting man, it won't be missing for long. Happy holidays everyone 🎉
I love how you can see that giant crystal has been slammed into the earth so hard its all the way down in that huge cave. What if Xalatath occupied that space and the light killed her with that crystal before the titans got there....still not sure about the thing changing to void though - are light and void just like the negative/positive magnet that can switch
Azeroth is the slumbering clockmaker (from the SL era leaks). The first ones structured the Zereths around her, for a purpose I’m not sure of yet. Given the similarity to Azathoth, probably to keep her asleep or contained, which would make sense given the titan prison in the last titan logo. That’s my running theory.
I *still* think Azeroth is a being in perfect balance with great nascent power (akin to first ones, if not actually a baby first one) so everyone is trying to turn it towards their 'faction' to get a power advantage once it births.
That was absolutely the plan through Shadowlands anyway. The Heart of Azeroth, and our intimate connection with it, was why the First One's technology responded to us the way it did. Given how poorly SL was recieved they might rework that idea into some other direction now. In the end, I see Azeroth eventually bringing rogue factions from each of the cosmic forces under her banner to defend her. Azeroth becoming, to quote Emma Lazarus, the "Mother of Exiles".
Has anyone noticed that aside from Yogg-Saron, the old god names have very similar naming conventions to the names of Naaru. They have that apostrophe in the name and many times after the first letter like many Naaru. Xal'atath also has the apostrophe (although not after the first letter), like Xe'ra, Xi'ri, Ti'or, and Saa'ra who are all Naaru. This may not be very relevant but names can be hints at shared origins. In League of Legeneds, all voidborne creatures have the apostrophe naming convention and it is generally done to separate the syllables in the name. But it is so prevalent that a human girl named Kaisa, actually had the spelling of her name changed when she merged with a voidborne and is now known as Kai'sa. Voidborne in league are of the same Lovecraftian inspiration as the Void and old gods of Warcraft. But if that is the case, does that mean the Naaru are related to the void or are the old gods related to the Light? It may be a stretch and I have not finished the video yet so maybe Accolonn addresses this, but I just wanted to share that because it may have relevance to the lore.
@laertesindeed I very well could be looking too deep into it, but there is another hint at a deeper connection between Light and Void, and that is the shadow priest. Shadow priest is the only void focused spec in the game (warlocks are fel focused with slight use of void). But why would the only void spec come from a class that worships the light? I think they have always hinted that the relationship between light and void are closer than we think. Maybe the void is the shadow casted by the light, kind of like it's other darker half. Also, Shadow priests are not incapable of using the light now that they have accepted the void, which is interesting. So, I still think that even down to the uniform naming conventions of the old gods and naaru might be another clue about the connection between light and void being deeper than we think. For polar energies, they show hints of a shared origin.
But why do people keep forgetting about Arthas? ;) Memory of Arthas whispers: The darkness does not die, . Memory of Arthas whispers: Rage against the Nightmare. Struggle as you will. Memory of Arthas whispers: The infinite darkness is patient. We will all be claimed in the end.
What I don’t understand is why the Naruu even hate the void considering they are the void they are literally both they are just crystals that harbor both their race is literally light and void to the point of where once they lose their life they turned a void so the race is actually both the question is why do they hate the one side and like the other is someone influencing them and as far as I see it if elune did create them she would’ve made them to be noth as we know she has both sides. I do find it amusing that she has both sides as we pretty much know in lore because she lives in the life lands but I wonder if she always did
I feel like the Midnight title and the expansion's color scheme will turn out to be a red herring. I think the Light will end up being the main "villain" of that expansion, though it might only end up being the case towards the end, when it pushes back TOO hard.
