    Biscuit Toast! Oh my! When I was a little girl, my mother made toasted biscuits and they were heavenly. I haven’t had them in decades. Thank you Mrs. Phyllis for that video and for jarring my memory.

    The biscuits are buttermilk biscuits. I've posted a video on how to make the biscuits. It doesn't really matter what kind you use - just break them in half, slap butter on each half and toast them under the broiler. That's BISCUIT TOAST.

    I'm so glad I found your channel. I make a lot of smoothies and I appreciate you demonstrating how to cut and freeze these types of fruits. I always seem to use the same types of fruit. I do add greens sometimes but have never thought about freezing and using apples. I am looking forward to trying this. Thanks!

    You can certainly leave the skin on the apples, I peel because usually the skins is tough after cooking.

    I really love your video. I am trying to preserve a lot of apples for future use and am glad I found this. I especially love the way you peel the apples. I've considered using corers but have always used a paring knife. Thanks for sharing your secrets! You may have spared me from spending more money on stuff I'll have trouble cleaning anyway.

    I use my potato peeler to peel my apples. I do not whittle with it, but use it as a peeler. Your cooked apples are what we call stewed apples up this way. If I can apple sauce, I do not peel and core them. Just take out the bad places, cut in pieces and cook, then run through the food mill or the attachment on the Kitchen Aid.     Freezing apples! Didn't know you could!! I am going shopping later today and I am going to buy a good amount of Gala apples and make my apple pie filling which is basically vet close to this video and freeze it!!! I home an like crazy but I do not like to can fruit other than tomatoes. Freezing my fruit pie fillings will save me so much time!!! Thank you so much for posting this!! ❤️

    I love Gala apples too, and always look for them in the supermarket. Cox's Orange Pippin have a wonderful sweet flavour too, but they are a good bit smaller. Mmmm!

    Also when you do peel the apple you can cook the peeling then use the water in baking or to freeze your apples in. When I have to peel my apples I make sure they are washed good then run the peels though my food processor and add them back into the apples that way no waste plus you get the benefit of the peeling where most of the vitamins and minerals are and the fiber.

    Everything you do + a spritz of lemon juice works wonders. Just try it you'll like. Ohhhh! How I love biscuits and stewed apples. Mmmm. I can taser this all the way through the Internet.

    Hi Phillis we eat this all the time and live it. My mom always made them for us. I don’t know if you have tried them on cottage cheese but it is scrumptious too. If we don’t have apples for the cottage cheese we use cranberry sauce with the cranberries. I was surprised on how good. Thank you! 🙏🏻

    Biscuit toast is simply a biscuit cut into with a patty of butter placed on top and then toasted under the broiler. You are toasting the middle part of both sides of the biscuit. Usually made with left over biscuits. Thanks for asking.

    Hello, I am new to the whole fruits and vegetables freezing/preserving idea. Can I use this method to process Granny Smith apples too? Asian pears are also in season right now and I have some beatuful Singo Pears, do you know if pears can be done like this too? I would really like to make my fruits and veggies last as I just went to the farmers market two days ago and bought TONS of awesome fruits and veggies to eat. This years I think we are going to have a long growing season in Cali due to the massive amount of water we got from 2016/17's winter weather, so I want to save as much goodies as I can in this short time that the different produce are in season. Thanks for your show-and-tell.

      You can do pears the same way as the apples. I would suggest getting the book
      "Putting Food By" from Amazon (There is a link on my website).
      This book is the same one I have used since the mid 1970's it's very thorough.

    Miss Phyllis have you ever tried Fuji apples? I purchase mine from The Korean Market. They were developed in Japan and are very very large. They are so sweet and delicious.

      I live in Northwest Washington State and I have 3 apple trees and 5 cherry trees in my orchard. One apple tree is a Fuji. I’ll be picking off the Fuji tree today hopefully and I do agree that they are an exceptional apple 🍎

      You can't beat Fuji. They are sweet and crisp. That is just about everything I want in an apple and I do love Gala's too. There is an old fashion Apple called a Stamen that I am also very fond of. Most of my apples cone from the orchards near Hendersonville, NC.

    Phyllis, I watched three of your videos and subscribed; great information. The first video I watched was about how to freeze onions, which is the bain of Chef's and Head Cook's in the North East; particularly Vidalia's so thank you and I will try your method. As for the elusive fruit fly, allow me to repay you for your knowledge with this bit of info: Years ago, a Bartender I worked with was confronted with a wooden bar stained with and lined by tequila and rum - (Fruit flies were swarming the bar and both interfering with his work, customer enjoyment and had started to invade my kitchen. We worked together for some days until it dawned on one of my young cooks that the little buggers swarmed the plate he used to keep his glass of recipe tequila on. I and the bartender placed a small amount - (a thin layer) - on a saucer, covered it tightly with plastic wrap and poked several tiny holes in it with a toothpick. The result was astounding, and we started placing several around the restaurant; the level of fruit flies dropped exponentially withing a few days. I just though the idea might intrigue you, as I have tested it further and both sugar water and certain fruit juices work quite nicely as well.

    (can raw apples be frozen)? without cooking them , have a lot of them
    I don't cook them I want to use them for my smoothies but they're going to go bad before I use them all

      If you are only using them for smoothies it's probably fine to just freeze them. They will turn to mush
      probably but if they are going in smoothies it would not matter. I would not keep them frozen for
      more than a month or two.

    If I peeled them the way you do with knife I'd peel off way to much apple. Never was too good at peeling apple with a knife. I use a peeler. Been peeling apples for a very long time. Thanks for the video.

      I also now have one of those little plastic peelers that uses a straight edge razor blade, it works much faster than peeling with a paring knife.

      My experience is that apples are very hard to get right in the pressure cooker. Some apples cook quickly and some take longer to cook. If cooked too long they become applesauce. You have to experiment to see what will work and be willing to accept applesauce if you get it wrong in the beginning.

      Freezing butter is very easy just stick it in the freezer, I leave it in the box it came in.
      Never have frozen eggs even though I do remember folks freezing them in ice trays back
      in the 1970's. I don't think it works to freeze them in the shell because they might break
      from the expanding when frozen.

    Phyllis to get rid of fruit flies get a water bottle add apple cider vinegar about 1/4 cup and 1 tablespoon of dish soap and place that by your sink it will go in it and drown.

    Nothing wrong with apples when they turn brown. They taste fine to me when brown.
