- On Friday 19th September, banned horse owner Delia Stacey, who allowed a pregnant mare to starve to death in sight of 1,000 bales of hay, appeared at Guildford Crown Court where she was jailed for a second time for again breaching an order banning her from keeping horses.

If you abuse or neglect an animal, they should be taken from you and you shouldn't be allowed to own animals again. Simple as that.

It must have been heartbreaking to have to send that horse back to its abuser, but I'm glad it worked out in the end and the horses are safe.

What a monster. You could see it just in the abrupt way she handled that chestnut, and the unwillingness and near fear in what had been a quiet horse's eye.

Wow again, this guy has the biggest heart. Even when that person was able to take the horse back he helped to keep it calm while loading. It was easy to see the horses hesitation. They're extremely smart animals.

I wonder like many others here why Delia Stacey, and I would personally like a reason why these horses were ever returned to the woman who was responsible for killing at least one horse.
This sends a tremendous and disgusting message to the world where horses are a necessity for life, Honduras for instance. Is or was this decision because of a single Judge not being fully aware of just how badly this woman Delia Stacey treated, by simply NOT CARING FOR A PREGNANT HORSE, WITHIN VIEW OF FOOD JUST A MATTER OF METRES AWAY, BUT NONE GIVEN TO PERHAPS THE ONE HORSE, A PREGNANT ONE WHO NEEDED IT?

It's sad how there are too many horses in the UK for the actual number of people willing and able to properly care for them.

Why some lack the heart to love an animal and can only hurt them is beyond my understanding. It also sends me a message that they have no heart to love anything or anyone.
I agree, prison sentence is far to lenient. I sick and tired of animal abusers getting slaps on the wrist. what the hell is wrong with such people. they must be ban from ever owning any animal ever again, or never allowed in the first place to own an animal. We are guardians, not owners.
I know I am a dumb ass so could some one explain to me why have a horse or any animal for that matter if your not going to care for it? I would think that defeats the purpose of having them.

No she didn't? The custody was given to WHW and the woman was banned from having equines for 8-15 years.
Can't believe someone would neglect a horse like this. Why??? She had food. I've seen some cases of neglect where owners couldn't afford to keep horses or just through plain ignorance. God some people can be so cruel. Lock her up with no food, see how she likes it!
Why ban her for 5 years? She's done it twice already, why wouldn't she do it again?
I also feel as if those 100+ days should consist of her being as badly neglected as she neglected the horses. Obviously she'd be fed but nothing else.

That was only a slap on the wrist. She should have been given 10 years for the mare and another 10 years for the foal that was lost, on top of what she was given. Plus, never allowed to have horses ever again.

Why do people do this. We had a cat who was 21when we had her euthanised before Christmas because she was old and had had a stroke and cold no longer look after herself and had dementia because she had forgotten that we had just fed her. We took her to the vet. We had taken the decision that things were not good for her and her life was not getting any better and after many tears and chat with the vet he agreed that it was her time. As we left the vet said thank you for looking after this animal for such a long time you are both to be commended. If we can see that something is wrong why can’t this woman?

Horses are very forgiving animals, and to see that poor horse go crazy at the sight of her, its just too much for me to handle. It horrible!
I know this video is old but. I am sick of seeing this kind of cruel act! The horse has a life too you know?! What if you were the horse? No food. No water. Nobody to save you. You had nothing at all. You were abused?! How would you like that!!!! STOP THIS NOW!!!

Great job, why are some people keeping horses in such horrible living situations? Why own a horse if u don’t want to take good care of them? Are these people using horses to boost their importance in society? I just find it so disgusting. Thank goodness for your organization and the court system.

It's the body language in the horse as she leads it off towards the trailor. It obviously doesn't want to go with her, the horse does a slow trot and not a walk - showing lack of respect through previous abuse possibly? also, she has to wrap the lead rope round over it's nose to act as a chain so that she can lead it on because it was refusing to go into the trailor. That would have been very uncomfortable for the horse - probably the only reason it complied and went in.
I live in the US and I've seen judges do the same thing here with pet owners. What are they thinking when they give animals back to owners that have provenly mistreated their animals so badly?
Animal abuse is like the abuse of children they are dependent on care and protection from parent or owner for their very lives. A fine, probation, or order that they can't own animals again is not enough they should get at a minimum of 5 or more years in jail. The sentence to be served in full. Only if the law gets serious about punishment for animal neglect will abuse stop. It only takes one tip off.
she wraps the lead rope around the horses nose (very sensitive) to load him on the truck. imagine what she does at home behind closed doors. what a horriffic sub human. i hope karma teaches her a lesson. good job rescuers under such trying circumstances. i feel so sorry for the mare that died and the others who suffered. name and shame, ban from owning animals, so no one ever gives her a horse she will abuse again. was she a racing stable?

That horse did not like her nor did it want to be in that trailer either, it could smell the familiar smell that meant it was going where it was mistreated. I hope she's never gets to own another animal in her lifetime and that the authorities are able to keep an eye on her in the future.
