That's right! The movie cleverly disguises this as Cole just being tight-lipped around a guy he doesn't fully trust, which, as it turns out, is Cole being absolutely terrified of a ghost showing up in his living room and sitting next to his mum! Their relationship isn't just about Malcolm getting a tough patient to open up, it's about a kid being chased everywhere by a ghost who, unlike all the others that scare him and ask him for favors, turns out to want to help him for once. (WHICH THE MOVIE CLEVERLY USES TO DISGUISE THAT HE'S ALSO ASKING FOR COLE'S HELP!)
@@marianoyuba3736 but this kind of line would create a bunch of other plot holes, such as why would the boy then tell Bruce Willis things like 'I can see dead people', 'all the time', just doesn't make sense, why would you tell a dead man you are able to see dead men) If the boy knows Willis is a ghost, why is he not scared of him like of the other ghosts? Because those other ghosts come at nights only, how convenient, why don't they try contacting the boy during daytime like Willis so he wouldn't be scared?) And finally, why didn't the boy tell Willis he was a ghost right away then, I mean what could possibly hold him from doing that? The length of the movie?)
In the first scene when the wife heads down to the basement, she feels the cold. It's not from husband, it's not from the guy upstairs either but it IS from the ghosts who haunt the guy upstairs. He was Malcolm's patient as a child when the ghosts started haunting him and the ghosts are still haunting him wherever he goes as an adult. Malcolm wasn't able to help him and that's why he is there in Malcolm's home ...to let Malcolm know that he was still being tortured by visitations and he blamed Malcolm.
The one thing that bugs me about is, was there a ghostly 'recuperation' period for Malcolm? Y'know, like maybe he didn't become a ghost until about a month after he died and he thought he'd been in hospital or something? If not, WHY DIDN'T HE WITNESS HIS OWN FUNERAL AND SUSS IT? And don't use the 'ghosts only see what they want to see' excuse - surely he would've been at least a little suspicious as to why his wife, friends, relatives and other people whose only connection is they knew him had somehow all suffered a personal loss at the same time!
It's a common thing in M Knights films, just huge plot holes. Like in "The Village", you're telling me not one plane or helicopter flew over that place in all that time?
Think of it this way: The ghost only exists at the times we're actually seeing him. Kind of like he blinks in and out of "existence" when he needs to be there for something to happen that helps him move forward. I don't think it's beyond plausibility that he simply doesn't notice or acknowledge the time lost between these appearances because... "ghosts only see what they want to see." Or what they need to see, as it were.
I think it's kind of implied that Malcolm can only hear the ghost on the tapes because he's dead, if he had listened to them that loudly while alive he'd have been oblivious.
Cole explained it in the hospital. He was practically beating Malcolm over the head with it. "I see dead people. They don't know they're dead, they can't see each other. They only see what they want to see."
@@kimberlyklaus7296 If ghosts can hear each other, then they could see each other too. Also if ghosts can touch things and move them( like what the grandma did with the pendant), wouldn't other people be frightened after seeing this?
I can say as a parent of a young kid, that you would be SHOCKED how your ear can pick up the sound of your childs voice, especially when they're distressed over general noise. Sometimes you don't even really HEAR it so much as you feel your ear react to something and you get an instinctual surge that says your child is potentially in danger. Her reaction is very authentic, you're not sure if you heard something but your maternal spidey senses go off.
@@ineffablemars The other ghosts are angry, threatening, and/or frighteningly disfigured from whatever horrifying ways that they died. Whereas Malcolm is not angry or threatening, because he has sympathy and regret for man who shot him, rather than anger, and those feeling carry over to the treatment of his new "patient," Cole. Cole *_is_* afraid of Malcolm at the start, before he meets him, and finds out that he's not a threat, and actually wants to help. Cole clearly isn't afraid of his grandmother visiting him occasionally , either.
Cole was afraid of Malcolm in the beginning you can see his fear at the church and also when he comes home from school and spots Malcolm sitting near his mom. He then realises that Malcolm is not a threat to him and actually forms a bond with him i would of liked Malcolm to of visited Cole one last time when he realised he had been dead all along remembering what Cole told him about the dead they only see what they want to see they walk around and talk like regular people i would of loved to hear what Cole had to say to Malcolm
As a cab driver, years ago, I drove some people home from this movie. I remember someone saying "I can't believe he was actually dead the whole time"... Kinda ruined the movie for me... ;)
I think Cole knew Malcolm was dead. Go back to the _"I see dead people"_ scene and notice Cole's eyes shift down and hover over Malcolm's bullet wound before he reveals it... Just another terrifying subtlety.
Just his initial reaction gives it away. When he walks in the house and sees Malcolm sitting across from his mother. He immediately backs up against the wall behind him and clutches it. Cole knew the entire time
First time I saw this was at a drive in with my now ex girlfriend, she went to go get snacks and some asshole comes up next to my car and looks straight at me and says "You know Bruce Willis is dead the whole movie" and walks away like nothing happened.
- 1 sin: it's obvious why the mother would let her child go roaming about Philadelphia alone. If the child gets into trouble then she'll have an excuse to send her/him to live with her/his aunt and uncle in Bell Air.

haleypotter417 Also, I think that ghosts’ perceptions aren’t supposed to be very accurate. Remember, they only see what they want to see. I think that also means they remember what they expect to remember. That’s why he doesn’t realize he hasn’t eaten or driven a car in months. He just assumes that he has.
For me the twist was like "oh snap" but the scene that haunted me when this came out was when Cole got locked in the cupboard or whatever. The screaming he did there was phenomenal acting
7:23 Malcolm died by the hands of a patient he had failed. In his last moments, he was wondering what might of been if he had properly helped the patient, and had nothing but regret. Cole has the same exact symptoms that the other patient had, if you pay attention to the conversation with the killer and read the notebook when Cole is introduced. Malcolm's ghost is doing what he pictured himself doing in his last moments of life. The other ghosts were suddenly killed, like the kid shot in the head, the abused wife, the bicyclist, and some others I'm probably forgetting, which isn't true for Malcolm. The extra time gave him time to think. Just a thought though.
So many years later, and it remains impressive how bloody good Haley Joel Osment was in this movie -- and how well he anchored it all. He really should have got the Oscar that year, rather than Michael Caine for Cider House Rules.
I remember watching this as a kid and that scene with the kid saying “hey come on I’ll show you where my dad keeps his gun” stuck with me for a long time 😳
I tear up when I see that scene every time. Also the scene where the little girl asks "Is Kira coming back?" gets me too for some reason even though she's not even an important character. A random 3 year old girl who wishes her sister was alive. And the sister clearly loved her back.
Actually, I thought that Cole knew all along that Malcolm was dead, but he liked him so much because he wasn't like the other ghosts. Malcolm was like a father figure that Cole didn't have, so he didn't want him to go away. He doesn't bother to try to tell him he's dead at first, because: A. He doesn't know how to deal with ghosts, to him they never go away, and B. He realizes later that Malcolm has to do something before he can go on. Basically, Malcolm and the other ghost have to accomplish everything they need to accomplish and then they will realize they are dead. When they accomplish their tasks, they will be READY to see they are dead. When he tells him to talk to his wife while she's sleeping, it was after he realized this. And that helping him was part of Malcolm's tasks that would allow him to realize he was dead. Then, after Malcolm succeeded in helping him, Cole realized that he needed to talk to his wife before he could finally move on. So, he told him to talk to his wife while she was sleeping, not because he thought that Malcolm was alive and his wife was ignoring him, but because he knew all along that Malcolm was dead and he guessed at the end that Malcolm's wife might be able hear him in her dreams. And when he talks to his wife, he sees the signs that he wouldn't have seen before because his business was finished and he was READY to see them. The idea that you are more open to spirit communication in your sleep is an old one.
+Nathan Wubs I still think his acting was good in those movies. The writing and his characters were not exactly top notch. You can't put the blame on him.
The Rue Morgue ready player one was amazing. Easily one of the best films this year in my opinion. And given the films rating I'd say the public agrees
The Rue Morgue I respectfully disagree. I think its amazingly done. Decent story most gamers should be able to relate too. Imagery is stunning. And dialogue is actually pretty accurate. Most people aren't witty, highly intelligent. Most people are average to varying degrees. I think the script was written with the average typical individual in mind so it didn't have to be hyper intelligent. All in all I really enjoyed it. And no my description of the films target audience is not reflected on me. If I'm being 100% honest I think I have a biased opinion simply because the nostalgia factor is strong lol. Nostalgia gets me every single time so I may not be the best judge. And yes rotten tomatoes gave it a good rating but so did most critics if I recall and its reception was well received by most audiences.
The Rue Morgue The way you used quotation marks was incorrect. Never use them to emphasize something, because then it looks like you are being "quite" sarcastic. Yes I am a grammar N.A.Z.I.
yeah, thought that was kinda funny - "he should be feeling acceptance here" doesn't mean he's also not worked up - he's not raging and flinging shit around the house like a poltergeist, no, but doens't mean he's not feeling stuff enough to chill the air.
I was in line with a few friends to buy my tickets for this movie the weekend it came out, knowing nothing more than Bruce Willis was in it and there was a kid who could see dead people. As we're waiting the side doors open and out come the people who just finished watching their movie. A young couple, maybe in their early twenties walk past and I overhear the guy say to his girlfriend "I can't believe Bruce Willis was dead the whole time?" I didn't think much of it because like I said, we didn't know too much about the movie. This was back when the only place you see trailers was on TV and they didn't include all the good parts of the movie. Apparently no one else in my group heard the guy. We got our tickets, got our popcorn (the drinks and candy were in the girls purses) and found our seats. The movie starts, Bruce Willis gets shot and it hits me like a ton of bricks. This movie had been ruined for me. I'm still optimistic and I'm thinking maybe it's revealed early on and then I will be able to enjoy the movie as much as everyone else. Nope. As the scenes go by I'm just in my head screaming furiously. Everyone else is going to get a great reveal, it's going to be a part of cinematic history. Everyone will remember just how much of a watershed moment it was for them. If I ever see that guy again I'll staple his lips shut.
Damn man, same thing happened to me but in a different way. I watched oceans thirteen a couple of days before i had seen this movie and Matt Damons character spoiled it for me when bruce willis had a cameo. movie was still great tho
The sin of the ghost in the cellar can be easily explained. The crazy dude who will show up shortly was a ghost magnet. His presence in the house attracted nearby or ghosts within the house itself which explain the cold. Which will happen later with the kid later like when he saw the hanged people in school corridor. Pay attention Cinemasins :D
she's got her on record poisoning her, so instead of dying and moving on, her ghost stays because she's trying to save her little sister from being poisoned to death as well. Did you even watch the movie?
How did she know her mom was poisoning her & secretly record it, yet still drink the poison & die? Even if she had some reason to suspect her mom was poisoning her & her sister, wouldn't she stop eating anything the mom made until she knew, then tell her dad?
buffypython She was filming the puppet show before her mom comes in. When her mom comes. she accidentally leaves the camera on and the entire poisoning thing gets recorded. She didn't purposely record it
Cant believe he didn't removed a sin for that car scene. That was such an emotional pre scene for the actual twist. I was crying from that car scene and then the very next scene i was so surprised and mindblown from the twist
for the cabinet opening scene, it being silent was done on purpose. I don't know if you noticed but that was a single very long shot in which people were trained to go on set and open most the cabinets silently while the camera was facing away
I remember being at a friend’s house one night a long time ago, going through the TV channels. We stopped at the middle of this random movie already halfway through, and I recognized the child actor. I said "look, it must be A.I." So we decided to sit back and watch. Right away, something seemed off. There was this scene with a boy turning his back on Cole, and showing a gaping bloody hole on his head. And then there was THE scene under the blanket. Man, most traumatic childhood experience.
The reason why Cole suggest talking to her when she sleeps is because the souls of the dead are said to be able to talk to people in their dreams. So, by the end of the film, he did know Malcom is dead.
Sure we are crazy Nathan because we talk to dead people. Great assumption. I don't care if you believe or not not my business. But I have seen spirits and I know when I do and when I don't. But I'll leave it there.
+Eduardo “Eddie” Alvarado Guzman I think ranquli was talking about in the show this was the reason it would work. Not sure about him thinking it happened in real life.
I was responding more to Nathan. Ranquili is right that is the way the movie's universe works. I was only commenting on how my mom and myself do, at rare times, dream about a dead family member talking to us. It has no similar relation to the movie just adding that both of us experienced this before. With Nathan's comment I was only putting into perspective.
Exactly. This movie is a product of it's time, and couldn't possibly find a new audience today sadly. The twist is just as well-known today as a certain twist in The Empire Strikes Back
*Sandeep Balachandran* Eh, that's only kind of true. You would've never expected the twist, if you were watching it at that time... but only if you hadn't watch a lot of Alfred Hitchcock and/or David Lynch, otherwise you _could've_ expected it.
When it came out in '99 I was told by a friend who had seen it that there was a secret in the movie, but they wouldn't tell anyone what it was. I immediately guessed the secret (that Bruce Willis's character is dead). I don't recall any reviews from the time that I saw/read mentioning "there's a huge twist! Don't tell anyone!"
M. Night always puts symbols in his movies; the color red was the big thing in this movie. Red doorknob, Anna wore a red dress to the anniversary dinner, Cole wore a red sweater at the party, Lynn wore a red sweater when Cole finally told her he could see dead people, etc. But yeah, she seemed like the type of mom who would wear red at her own daughter's funeral, like she was celebrating.
Huh.... that is food for thought. As many times as I have seen this movie, my impression is that it is somehow colorless. All the days are gray like under a heavy filter. Even Sunshine seems watered down. I guess I always thought it was meant to be looked at like "ghost eyes" or unconscious mourning, but I really hadn't noticed how much red there was scattered through.
People at wakes are mourning and paying respects; its not that hard to believe that they don’t immediately start interrogating a little boy who shows up about if he was invited and probably just assume he was a schoolmate or a neighbor since wakes aren’t usually places where 8 year old kids show up to sell drugs and stir up trouble.
Has anybody ever thought about how they'd react if, at their child's wake, they discovered that their spouse had poisoned them? Murder. Murder is what would happen. Knife block, stab, dead. ...and you wouldn't go to jail.
Well there is a decent chance you would get off, it's happened plenty of times. Plead temporary insanity or something of the sort. Because I mean seriously, can one really be expected to be in their right mind or in control of their actions if they just found out their child they are in the middle of grieving was murdered by someone they trusted who is right there in front of them. I know I personally would go into a blind rage. I would be utterly unable to think of the consequences in that moment, it would just overtake. It obviously depends on the specifics of the incident but in many cases he would indeed get off.Edit: Probably would have better chances though if he just beat her to death with his fists instead of going for a knife because that seems to indicate some level of awareness and planning as opposed to flying into an uncontrollable rage.
I never understood that part of the movie, there was never a toxicology report showing the daughter was poisoned with fucking pinesol? maybe they just didn't care since it was Mischa Barton
I've never seen this movie. I was actually planning on watching it years ago when I was in high school. But then a girl was giving a speech in my English class and used this movie as an example (can't remember exactly what her speech was about), but she goes something like, "it's just like the ending to the movie The Sixth Sense, where we all know how it ends with the main dude ending up being a ghost the whole time," and then the whole class freaked out on her like, "Spoilers! How dare you!" and she shrugged and said, "I thought everybody had seen this movie." So I didn't want to watch it after that. But maybe I could give it another shot....
I didn't actually watch it until I found out he was dead, and then I wanted to see how he made you think that it was the wife that was dead. Turns out, I had no idea what the movie was about.
Agreed, best reveal I've ever seen in a movie, I remember getting about 20 minutes into the movie wondering when things were gonna kick up a notch, I was truly getting bored, but by that time I already found it compelling, so decided to stick it out for the rest of the movie, and I'm truly glad I did, for me, there has never been another movie the managed to stay with me the way this one did.
This whole film is viewed as Cole’s journey. It actually is Malcolm’s journey. So he goes in and out if reality since being dead. And it’s his journey to come to realise that he is dead. And it happens via the agent Cole ! And in some way it also helps Cole to deal with his super power.
The scene where Cole proves to his mom he can communicate with the dead via dead grandma/mom conflict story brings me to tears every time. So emotional. After this, "Unbreakable" and "Signs" M. Night lost his movie mojo...
Do you know what Im afraid when Im alone? Because Im afraid Ill find Donnie Wahlberg in my bathroom, and no not his character in this movie but Donnie Wahlberg playing Donnie Wahlberg.
+Chris Stalbe I think I'd rather have Donnie Wahlberg, The Happening Mark Wahlberg, and actual cannibal Shia Laboof in my bathroom then loony bin Jenny. Unless its younger playboy posing pre-crazy Jenny McCarthy then I might not mind so much for some reason.
+Spike Powers How was that even allowed? It's not like only hardcore fans of the cartoon said the first one sucked hard, but... well... evrybody who saw it and even everyone who didn't see it agreed on its suckyness. I guess even Night hates it.
Just did... Fuck, you aren't kiddintg around.... And I see the problem now: M Night said he did the first movie for 9 and 10 year olds, so he clearly doesn'tr understand the source material, I mean: I watched the show when I was like 12- 14, but after all the cartoon consists of Genocide, war, dealing with personal problems, crises and there is a full episode about wheather or not Aang should kill the Fire Lord. A film can only work if it either captures the tone of the cartoon perfectly, but then again: Why does there need to be a film? The cartoon is alright. If they told a new story it was fine, but just retelling and shortening the original is kinda lame. Another way would be to go full DrakKnigt oin the material and make it a dark, gritty world for adults, but I don't see the need at all. So to sum it up: second movie will blow. I can't be objective with this, it's just to obvious, that Avatar can not be made into a a good real- life feature film and shouldn't be anyway.
+akrybion If you think that Avatar cartoon wasn't gritty and dark in some parts you really had missed the point of the show, Avatar is like the old Batman The Animated Series, that have some serous and dark themes in it, and never the less, the plots were really good, maybe you need to see that even that are cartoons, they aren't aimed only for little stupid kids.
The best one was about her staying in the house. Many movies overlook that it would be beyond overwhelming to be reminded of something like that everyday....
The scene where Cole gives the father the box with the videotape where the mother was poisoning her daughter is so well done. The tears and emotion in the father’s eyes always make me emotional, but to me, the mother in a bright red suit with the bright red lipstick is so a red herring, ironically.
M. Night either makes the most amazing psychological thrillers, or the weirdest ones with extremely laughable plots. Either way he makes all my favorite movies.
+Riley Riley Hahaha, once in school we were allowed to watch a movie, the teacher had The Sixth Sense but didn't know it. I mixed it up wuth The Fifth Elemnt and encouraged everyone to watch that movie. So we watched the whole movie. I think that was a bit to scary for some of us because we were like 13 or so. Thats the only time I saw that movie.
this was one of the best movies i have ever seen. in fact, even in this video alone the big reveal still brought that same exact chill i felt the first time.
The end mostly. It's like Velcoro on True Detective going to his son's school instead of fucking run away immediately. Pacino's victory piss me off in that movie.
The ghost haunting Olivia Williams in the first scene is the ghost that has arrived because Vincent Gray is upstairs, and he has the same gift as Cole, so naturally they flock to him. Great touch imo.
This movie is brilliant! I watched it about half an hour ago and what I found so amazing was that it's right in front of you but yet you can't see it! M.Night your a genius!!!!
You gotta admit, this is a pretty unique movie and makes you feel lots of feels for a "horror". Too bad he kept trying to do the same thing over and over, to varying degrees.
Happened to watch The Sixth Sense by chance on a holiday to Gran Canaria in 2001. Was eating pasta on a balcony with my then girlfriend at about 10pm looking at the tv inside the apartment, before heading out. Thought is was one of the best films I'd ever seen. I still remember everything so vividly.
I just realized a thing...after years this channel has still no video about the Alien, the sequels or the crossover. There is only a really old Prometheus video...and i'm not ok with it.
DakStoSha I love the first 2 movies and the 3' is a guilty pleasure for me (there is Tywin Lannister!!!!) but cinemasin already sinned both good (terminator 2) and bad (terminator 3) movie. So all the alien saga could be sinned.
I went through a bit of a Bruce Willis phase a couple of years ago and found out my girlfriend at the time had never heard anything about The Sixth Sense. Didn't know the twist ending and was apprehensive of it because Bruce Willis was the main actor. But holy shit, I'm glad I got to watch even one person's reaction to this movie. Fucking priceless.
venger I do and I also know that there is no reason as to why the opposite side of the road is blocked as they should just be fine, perhaps they are slowed down and there's a traffic coordinator, but they definitely shouldn't have been stopped.
They would stop traffic if allowing traffic to travel in the opposite direction would disturb or contaminate evidence or if it was dangerous to do so. Also, we didn't see the other end of the road where the fatality took place, so we do not know if the vehicle was blocking the road. Also. How long was the road blocked for? it may be a temporary situation until the traffic police can created a contraflow or traffic light system.
I have NO CLUE where to leave this so why not here. PLEASE do The Ninth Gate. It’s one of my favorites and I need the Cinemasins versions in my life. THE NINTH GATE!!!!
+MrWhitman Kid today with social media. The case with the Wonder Woman lunch box. It was reported on, even though it was proved fake. A lie spiraled out of control.
+rangerreview geekdad.com/2015/08/wonder-woman-lunchbox/ There's no real way of knowing with clear certainty that the lunchbox story was fake. However, I know what you mean. So many "news" outlets run with stories now without even the slightest fact checks.
I was so shocked when it was revealed he was a ghost... I had to rewatch it one second time in order to get all these clues.. One of the best movies ever!
What I love about "Everything wrong with..." is that you do pay respect to good storytelling by taking sins off once in a while... just like in this one. Kudos!
He did run from him when they first met but the difference between Malcom and the other ghosts is that Malcom isnt mad, upset or scary looking like the other ghosts
Huh, kid in Sixth Sense, one of my favorite movies, is the voice actor for Sora in Kingdom Hearts, my favorite game series. Is this the work of EL DOGGO QUE SE LLAMA EL DIABLO?
No matter how much Shyamalan continues to spiral downhill, this movie will always be his best. I still love it and enjoy it immensely every time I watch it.
+Something Cire Movies Yes, they can. There's already an Honest Trailer for MM Fury Road, so there's no reason to think that these guys couldn't do a video, too.
+Trepur349 Just a theory: I think the reason he could enter is because it is never implied that ghosts can't enter. The kid likes the church because the ghosts aren't acting "bad" when they are inside. He knows Willis character is dead. But he isn't scared of him. Maybe there are other spirits that enter and we just don't see them because they are good and not relevant to the story. And also, he likes the church because he believes saints can protect him from evil spirits. But again, who am I to know? I really like this film though...
though as was established by the movie, most of the ghosts weren't intending to be harm, but wouldn't go into the church (that's why he liked hiding in the church he made)
But the Latin phrase he learned, wouldn't he have heard it precisely in the church? It's a place where the ghosts, just like people, look for respite. They aren't going to be hostile.
CatMuto I️ just watched the movie for the first time last night and I️ had no idea that he was dead! It was a total surprise to me. Then I️ watched the sins video for it right after.
I think the movie works great. Remember the Ghost rules; 1)they don't see each other, 2)they don't know they are dead and 3)they only see what they want to see! Sure, you can pick it apart if you want to be totally cynical, after all there are no ghosts and nobody can talk to the dead, all fiction baby, but somehow it worked and became the highest grossing horror flick of all time.
I was soooo waiting for CinemaSins to play some NKOTB at the end while showing the Donnie Wahlberg in the bathroom scene. That would've been HILARIOUS!
That one is hard to fake... unless you can do "ambidextrous". I can hold a pen in my non-dom hand- but I cannot make legible letters with it. Bruce Willis also shoots left handed; my brothers have commented on this from his many Die Hard films. We wish there had been actual fight scenes in that one with Samuel L Jackson so we could see him "boxing" left handed
My dad was ambidextrous, he could write beautifully in print or cursive with both hands, but the handwriting was very different depending on which hand it was.
+E-Man5805 I've thought about that but I don't even think a great child actor like Osment could redeem "Yippie!" and "I'll try spinning, that's a good trick!"
ThisName DoesntMatter You must be new, in the Star Wars Fandom, C3PO and no Jar Jar is credited to be the most annoying character of the saga, and at difference from Jar Jar, HE NEVER SHUT UP.
ThisName DoesntMatter Racist? I wonder who slipped the stereotype in the beginning, because the other Gungans are much more intelligent than Jar Jar. I wonder that stupid excuse of the stereotype is just another excuse to hate the Phantom Menace when being really fairy, Jar Jar was the only stereotype, compared to the dozens or hundreds of stereotypes in the Original Trilogy, that discounting the stupid plots, bland characters and horrible dialogue, even worse than the prequels.
Cole actually does run away from Malcolm the first time he sees him. So he's acknowledging he is a ghost there.
@@marianoyuba3736 but this kind of line would create a bunch of other plot holes, such as why would the boy then tell Bruce Willis things like 'I can see dead people', 'all the time', just doesn't make sense, why would you tell a dead man you are able to see dead men) If the boy knows Willis is a ghost, why is he not scared of him like of the other ghosts? nariman41 ‘Main ones’. What does that even mean?
The scene in the car with Cole and his mother makes me cry every time. It's so moving and well acted and scripted
right omg
same here!
Me too😢😢😢
In the first scene when the wife heads down to the basement, she feels the cold. It's not from husband, it's not from the guy upstairs either but it IS from the ghosts who haunt the guy upstairs. He was Malcolm's patient as a child when the ghosts started haunting him and the ghosts are still haunting him wherever he goes as an adult. Malcolm wasn't able to help him and that's why he is there in Malcolm's home ...to let Malcolm know that he was still being tortured by visitations and he blamed Malcolm.
great response!
Now _that_ I never would have figured out. Great catch! 👍
Man when I was a kid that scene under the blanket fort was the most terrifying shit I ever saw.
Same! I went a long time before I ever re-watched the movie just cuz I remembered being so scared of that scene. xD
I agree. When the clothespins came off I put myself in his position and had two heart attacks
fr though
@Fat Pie same she freaked the crap out of me
YES IMG IM NOT THE ONLY ONE...... I LITERALLY HAS TO SLEEP WITH BLANKETS OVER MY HEAD AND TUCKED UNDER MY FEET
If nothing else, Toni Collette's performance in that scene in the car is pretty great.
Oscar worthy
I guess I am in the minority..."look at my face!"
*UGH*
Damn she is good she should be a full on A lister with her skillz
Couldn't agree more! I can watch this movie again and again and that scene makes me cry every time! She is incredible
Jonathan B yes!! I always thought that. It seemed like her real life.
I always thought it was hilarious that Bruce Willis' character didn't think much of nobody reacting to him at all for days or weeks on end.
And then he can't believe he's dead at the end lol
Also did he not have to eat or drink anything the entire time or if he did, did he ever go to a diner and get upset that nobody would serve him?
Hey!👍
I can say as a parent of a young kid, that you would be SHOCKED how your ear can pick up the sound of your childs voice, especially when they're distressed over general noise. Sometimes you don't even really HEAR it so much as you feel your ear react to something and you get an instinctual surge that says your child is potentially in danger. Her reaction is very authentic, you're not sure if you heard something but your maternal spidey senses go off.
It's like we hear their blood flow.
You know it's a great movie when there are 2 sin reductions scenes.
+realjaypea So did Jurassic Park 2
Completely agree.
He even took off 5 at one point, this looks like a really good movie!

+Eve Sav Oh you didn't see it yet? Well, after this spoiler-rich review, you can never enjoy the movie to the fullest.
Btw Cole already knew Malcolm was a ghost but he wanted him to find out for himself. He's given hime clues
Clues? He practically beat him over the head with it but Malcolm wasn't getting it.
Why isn’t cole afraid of Malcolm but he is of the other ghosts?
@@ineffablemars Not all ghosts are scary. In fact we find out later that grandma has been visiting (and moving her favorite necklace around).

4:22 i just assume that where he is sitting is "his spot" and so his wife never sits there as a way of keeping his memory with her
haleypotter417 Also, I think that ghosts’ perceptions aren’t supposed to be very accurate. Remember, they only see what they want to see. I think that also means they remember what they expect to remember. That’s why he doesn’t realize he hasn’t eaten or driven a car in months. He just assumes that he has.
Yeah, this movie is about "clicking in"

I think it’s a fine thought.
So many years later, and it remains impressive how bloody good Haley Joel Osment was in this movie -- and how well he anchored it all. He really should have got the Oscar that year, rather than Michael Caine for Cider House Rules.
I agree, although Caine was good enough, too.
I remember watching this as a kid and that scene with the kid saying “hey come on I’ll show you where my dad keeps his gun” stuck with me for a long time 😳

Yeah the mother was really well acted. You couldn't help but get emotional when she realizes what her son has been going through.
I tear up when I see that scene every time. Also the scene where the little girl asks "Is Kira coming back?" gets me too for some reason even though she's not even an important character. A random 3 year old girl who wishes her sister was alive. And the sister clearly loved her back.
A sin taken off, but then a sin added for movie tricking me into feeling things.
Sins should NEVER be removed.
"Brian Shaddock would be very good at CinemaSins!"
Best child actor of all time.

Amazing flick. If M.N.S. had made just this one film and disappeared forever, he'd be a legend now.
The Rue Morgue
The way you used quotation marks was incorrect. Never use them to emphasize something, because then it looks like you are being "quite" sarcastic. Yes I am a grammar N.A.Z.I.
Add Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom too - Spielberg hates the film with a personal grudge, little wonder - it is racist as hell.
@Nick Fanchette jesus, i swear After Earth has to be one of the worst movies i have ever seen
I think Malcom's emotion at the end was shocked. It's pretty upsetting to figure out you're actually dead :p
yeah, thought that was kinda funny - "he should be feeling acceptance here" doesn't mean he's also not worked up - he's not raging and flinging shit around the house like a poltergeist, no, but doens't mean he's not feeling stuff enough to chill the air.
Imagine if he was only hanging around to find out how Game of Thrones ended.
I feelbit gets cold when they show strong emotion. Which is why anger and comfort or shock would also affect the temperature.
I was in line with a few friends to buy my tickets for this movie the weekend it came out, knowing nothing more than Bruce Willis was in it and there was a kid who could see dead people.
As we're waiting the side doors open and out come the people who just finished watching their movie. A young couple, maybe in their early twenties walk past and I overhear the guy say to his girlfriend "I can't believe Bruce Willis was dead the whole time?"
I didn't think much of it because like I said, we didn't know too much about the movie.

No he just made up a ton of specific movie sins that are impossible to know unless you watch it multiple times.
She didn't purposely record it
K.G. Exactly
I got a question, since I don't remember the details very well now, did the movie say why the mom wanted to poison her?
Cant believe he didn't removed a sin for that car scene. That was such an emotional pre scene for the actual twist. I was crying from that car scene and then the very next scene i was so surprised and mindblown from the twist
for the cabinet opening scene, it being silent was done on purpose. I don't know if you noticed but that was a single very long shot in which people were trained to go on set and open most the cabinets silently while the camera was facing away
God, even the Cinemasins version of this movie gives me goosebumps!!
I remember being at a friend’s house one night a long time ago, going through the TV channels. We stopped at the middle of this random movie already halfway through, and I recognized the child actor. I said "look, it must be A.I."
So we decided to sit back and watch. Right away, something seemed off. There was this scene with a boy turning his back on Cole, and showing a gaping bloody hole on his head. And then there was THE scene under the blanket.

Dang that held up really well on the sin counter...for good reason too
The reason why Cole suggest talking to her when she sleeps is because the souls of the dead are said to be able to talk to people in their dreams.
So, by the end of the film, he did know Malcom is dead.
+RanquliTehGamer Correct. Infact my mom and I sometimes have ghosts talking to us in our dreams. Usually family related but yeah.
+Eduardo “Eddie” Alvarado Guzman yeah your mom and you are crazy. I suggest you seek some medical help.
One of the BEST movies made in the last 20 years
It is a 1999 movie and you will never expect the twist if you were watching it at that time ..THe sixth sense in 3 second-->best movie
Exactly. This movie is a product of it's time, and couldn't possibly find a new audience today sadly. The twist is just as well-known today as a certain twist in The Empire Strikes Back
Stigma yeah but if that movie came out this year, and you saw it for the first time you wouldn't expect the twist.
Don't tell anyone!"
unfortunately, i saw it today. and guess what. i was fucking shocked at the end and i was like, "HOLY FUCKING MINDFUCKING SHIT." i'm still in shock
Notice how Kira's mom was wearing RED to the wake?
She's not her mom...she's the father's wife
@@beastongaming1866 She's still her father's wife. She was poisoning her ffs, not every woman a father marries would deserve to be called 'mom'

CinemaSins: "Fired"
Freaking lost it when you said that Jeremy. I thought the same thing when I saw that scene in the movie 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Has anybody ever thought about how they'd react if, at their child's wake, they discovered that their spouse had poisoned them? Murder. Murder is what would happen. Knife block, stab, dead.
...and you wouldn't go to jail.
Wow... you may be in for a surprise if you act on your advice.
Caleb F TRUE! You would still probably go to jail though....
Caleb F
Agreed. Whatever means, that spouse is dead yo.
It’s worth watching, even spoiled.

Here is a sin, M. Night has set release date for *AVATAR THE LAST AIRBENDER 2*!
+Spike Powers How was that even allowed? It's not like only hardcore fans of the cartoon said the first one sucked hard, but... well... evrybody who saw it and even everyone who didn't see it agreed on its suckyness. I guess even Night hates it.
akrybion It is, look it up
+Spike Powers Wow, you aren't kidding, he really would go trough this.
I agree, but maybe she couldn’t afford to move?
The scene where Cole gives the father the box with the videotape where the mother was poisoning her daughter is so well done. The tears and emotion in the father’s eyes always make me emotional, but to me, the mother in a bright red suit with the bright red lipstick is so a red herring, ironically.

And I'm OK with that. And I am NOT OK with that.
+BelleOfTheBlox Ding!
+Francesco A Or even a Predator video :(
That's because Alien is amazing. The sequels however... The lack of sinning is sinnable. Ding!
Cinima Sins, sin 87 at 10:37 is wrong as there is a car and a van on the other side of the trafic that is blocking that side
+OfficialPirateFraser Yeah, but why are there cars there blocking the road? The side doesn't need to be blocked off.
+DaveyDDial1 Obviously you have no idea how a fatality in a street works.
venger I do and I also know that there is no reason as to why the opposite side of the road is blocked as they should just be fine, perhaps they are slowed down and there's a traffic coordinator, but they definitely shouldn't have been stopped.
+OfficialPirateFraser Exactly, jesus have you people never heard of gridlock?
I have NO CLUE where to leave this so why not here. PLEASE do The Ninth Gate. It’s one of my favorites and I need the Cinemasins versions in my life. THE NINTH GATE!!!!
I dunno, "Fired" wouldn't happen in MY life. I had teachers who called me worse and did worse and they didn't even get a slap on the wrist.
+MrWhitman Kid today with social media. The case with the Wonder Woman lunch box. It was reported on, even though it was proved fake. A lie spiraled out of control.
+rangerreview geekdad.com/2015/08/wonder-woman-lunchbox/
There's no real way of knowing with clear certainty that the lunchbox story was fake. However, I know what you mean. So many "news" outlets run with stories now without even the slightest fact checks.
+Greyghostvol1 Yeah, im not reading all that. Could you sum it up for me.
silverdragon122 Just skim :l
They probably get a book thrown at them
I was so shocked when it was revealed he was a ghost... I had to rewatch it one second time in order to get all these clues.. One of the best movies ever!
His best movie. However uneven his subsequent films this really is ingenious. I remember the feeling of shock at the end.
6:35 these silent shots were probably my favorite in the film, and this scene in general with the ghost jumpscare is when i really got invested
What I love about "Everything wrong with..." is that you do pay respect to good storytelling by taking sins off once in a while... just like in this one. Kudos!
I just wanted to point out that exactly SIX Sims were removed in this movie. CX
*sins
im pretty sure there were seven sins removed
Six Sims? So that's the whole Goth family, and the Newbie couple?
Seven*
scam basturd
I would've just dinged at 1:52 for "Discount Poltergeist". It's the exact same scene as the chair stacking, minus the difficulty of chair stacking.
I’ve always wondered why Cole isn’t afraid of Malcolm if he’s afraid of all the other ghosts.
He ran from him when they first met
He did run from him when they first met but the difference between Malcom and the other ghosts is that Malcom isnt mad, upset or scary looking like the other ghosts
When Bruce Willis died at the end of dicht sense I JIZZED IN MY PANTS
+Watervalgast1 That's not really the kind of reaction I expect to hear about watching this movie...
+Something Cire Movies But it is what you can expect to hear from someone with a single digit IQ...
+Watervalgast1 But he died at the beginning.
+Mohammed Al-Kooheji its from a song dude lol
damon braithwaite OHHH Lonely Island! How did I not notice
This is only my second favorite thing that Haley Joel Osment is in, the first is Kingdom Hearts.
But of course.
+SkaiCyan Artificial Intelligence, the flawed masterpiece about the future of mankind.
Pablo Podhorzer Oh, that's a good one. One of my favorites actually, made me a Jude Law fan.
What bout Forrest Gump?
Nick Barrie Was he in that? I think I last saw that when I was 5, I can't remember anything about it at all.
This is my all time favorite movie. I screamed in class when this was uploaded:')
+Confidential “Secret Identity” Name Here in Sacrameto school began last week.
+Confidential “Secret Identity” Name Connecticut :( tenth grade
Donnie Wahlberg makes it doesn't he
+Lauren Neal One of my favs too!
+Lauren Neal you need to see WAY more movies
Huh, kid in Sixth Sense, one of my favorite movies, is the voice actor for Sora in Kingdom Hearts, my favorite game series. Is this the work of EL DOGGO QUE SE LLAMA EL DIABLO?
No matter how much Shyamalan continues to spiral downhill, this movie will always be his best. I still love it and enjoy it immensely every time I watch it.
Good news. He's bounced back.
Hey Jeremy, instead of saying "Taking off a sin," you should just say "So this atones for a sin."
Too much work.
BelleOfTheBlox But it would work, for instance "They did this, and that atones for one sin"
Bryce Scott
Bryce Scott ex-machina. *ding*
BelleOfTheBlox
'Using another persons quote to get the point across' cliché *Ding*
Pfft. That isn't even a cliche. *ding*Bryce Scott
Everything wrong with...Mad Max Fury Road? *runs and hides in the corner*
Sin #1 generic action flick
+CaptainTalon448 I don't think it's out on DVD yet so they can't really do that.
***** Oh, I think you're right and it did come out. Oh wow, in that case I really want to see that video too lol.
+Kyle Smith no it's not.
+Something Cire Movies Yes, they can. There's already an Honest Trailer for MM Fury Road, so there's no reason to think that these guys couldn't do a video, too.
"Why didn't we see the Signs in this guy's Unbreakable movie recipe way back when they were Happening"! Nicely done!
My dad made me watch this when I was eight, it ruined me for years. I am still thankful, though, as nothing can compare to this date!
You forgot to sin how Bruce Willis can enter the church despite being dead but non of the other ghosts can.
It's because he doesn't think he's dead. He still believes he is alive, so there is no reason, in his mind, that he can't enter.
He can touch things that our red
I hope nobody watched this unless they've seen the movie
i havent seen the movie -- but now I want to watch it, it looks really cool
It's like watching the Titanic movie. Or Citizen Kane. It's become pop culture general knowledge that he's dead.
CatMuto I️ just watched the movie for the first time last night and I️ had no idea that he was dead! It was a total surprise to me. Then I️ watched the sins video for it right after.
i havent it but ive seen so much video about it that i have the feels to have watched it already
AmazingMinecraftians Same, I had no idea either. I did the exact same thing you did.
Ngl, I still teared up when you were reading sins over the scene when Cole was telling his mom about his grandmother
Wouldn't it just be NKB because you don't use on the as acronyms?
@@maxhydekyle2425 they actually went by NKOTB when they tried to be more "hard".
'Malcolm' writting with his right hand. Bruce Willis is left handed.
Okay, but he's not playing himself though.
Poltergeists don't open drawers like that because they're looking for something. They do it because it's unsettling.
I'm gonna adore a collaboration with NerdCubed.
+Zepherus Wait, what? Dan's gonna collab with Cinemasins?
Repeated Steak Yup, hopefully: twitter.com/cinemasins/status/638589316143296512
Zepherus Hypehypehype
I can't wait!
Fuck yes
I wonder how different Phantom Menace would've been if Osmont was in it. Probably not much.
+E-Man5805 I always wonder what would happen if the Originals Star Wars were such arrogant pricks and crybabies.
I wonder that stupid excuse of the stereotype is just another excuse to hate the Phantom Menace when being really fairy, Jar Jar was the only stereotype, compared to the dozens or hundreds of stereotypes in the Original Trilogy, that discounting the stupid plots, bland characters and horrible dialogue, even worse than the prequels.
that moment when cinemasins removes multiple sins from an M Night Shyamalan film
Damn, this channel never gets old... and your subtilties are what make it funny for me.... do you write this all yourself? You are a genius.
