Willow Wood Bowl - Woodturning

- Welcome back! This is just a short video on turning some willow wood into a wood bowl. Willow wood is very light. A little warning if you get any wet, let it sit outside for a day or two. You'll thank me later lol. The wood loves to suck up water as willow trees love wet areas. It has a sour smell and oozes the water out, making a mess, a big one. Looked like someone poured salt on a giant slug.
I sanded this one to 800 grit and finished with two coats of danish oil. Nothing to fancy, one of many twice turned wood bowls you'll be seeing. I recently did a small arts festival and needed more inventory.
Thanks for watching!

Danish oil for the win! Pretty bowl man, nice one!
I’ve got a total of 8 more bowls coming your way while I get this organ bowl done. Had a failed casting 🤬😂
I always wondered what willow looked like, it falls down all the time around here, Nice looking bowl Mike, Thumbs up as always !
If you decide to get some, if it’s wet, let that crap sit outside a day or two. Loaded with water. Soft and light weight. Loads of colors in it though!
Lovely work and magnificent piece of timber
Thank you Robert!
Beautiful willow bowl.
Thanks Jack!
Very pretty, that has some great colors in it. Now I want to find some😁
I was lucky enough to have a buddy to contact me when he cut this one down. I have some rather nice blanks of it. Light and soft so be easy with it if you find some.
That turned out really pretty, Mike! Very nice.
Thank ya much Billy!
Very nice, I was offered black willow but never got the chance to pick it up, your piece makes me wish I had.
I always welcome the chance to mess with a new type of wood. Just never know what’s inside of them. Trees can vary from location and type of soil they’ve grown in from what I’ve seen.
