LOVE Spelling Power! I also kept super simple. Did placement quiz, then started on correct level and used sticky bookmark for each child and my own notebook paper at each bookmark that I dated and noted which words they needed to study and we would start next days quiz with those words. Only takes a few mins and helps build good spellers! Win, win!!! Thanks for sharing this review :-)

Rachel Gillard just to clarify, each day you were quizzing a list of words? Either a new list or the words missed from the day before? You didn’t do any of the extra activities? Or stick with one list for a week? I’m also wanting to keep this super simple. Thanks for your thoughts!

Thank you for sharing your perspective on Spelling. We use CLE for Language Arts and it works very well for my children. I love your name, my daughter's name is spelled Micaela. Blessings to you and your family

Hi! I just found your channel while looking for reviews on Spelling Power. Fortunately for me, you reviewed the two spelling programs I am considering! I'm leaning toward Spelling Wisdom and using it along with their Using Language Well program for my girls, going into 7th and 5th grade. Do you thing I could start book 1 half way through the book for my 5th grader? I also have an 8y.o. son who is a struggling reader, so I'm afraid to start this with him, but I'm not sure what to do. My 7th grade daughter really struggles with paragraph composition, mostly intimidated and struggles a bit with the physical act of writing. Any tips are much appreciated! I'll check out your other videos and I've subscribed so that I don't miss anything new. Thank you so much!!

I have really enjoyed all of your reviews. They are all about the not so popular ones we see here on YT, it’s a nice change. I’m interested in your opinion on the Queen Language lessons vs the MFW language lessons, and adding in Spelling Wisdom? I’m wanting something light that gets done, and that also encompasses writing. Spelling is a bonus to me :)

So glad you're enjoying the reviews! Queen Lang has more content in general because there's 180 lessons and it requires writing in the books.... MFW Lang Lessons can be done primarily orally and has a smaller number of lessons. Both are casual/light/flexible compared to traditional programs. Both would be great with Spelling Wisdom, however, both have passages already included that you could create your own dictation/spell lists from if you want to take the time to do that.

Grace and Glory Home Schooling Thank you for clarifying that for me. Which program would you say has a better emphasis on writing or teaching how to write? What program do you use for that? I wanted to just have the kids write a narration each day from their reading. I’d like more direction than that.

Hannah C Queens has writing. MFW has a separate writing curriculum from their Lang Lessons (I have not used it) but Queen does include writing instruction scattered throughout! (It doesn’t get serious though until older levels). I have used different writing programs for different kids throughout the years but I don’t have an absolute favorite because I adjust for each kids needs :)

I am thankful for your review. I am looking for a grammar and so Spelling Wisdom pairs nicely with their Using Language Well. Side note, you sound exactly like the youtuber from Home and Arrows. I had to go her page to see if you are the same person. LOL

Great reviews! Would you say the teacher guide is necessary for Spelling Wisdom? Do you only do one lesson per week?

Yes, I found the teachers guide helpful. There are multiple lessons per week :)

Loved this review!! You mentioned using the two programs together. How do you do that?

Thank you. One uses spelling lists, one uses prepared dictation, so you just alternate days ☺️

I really like the idea of spelling wisdom but am hearing a lot about spelling power. Will have to check this out too. Thanks for your response!

Can you do the spelling wisdom without using their language arts curriculum?
