We love Spelling Wisdom / Using Language Well. This is our first year using it and it works so much!!!!
Yes!!! 👏🏻👏🏻 thanks for sharing your feedback!
I really enjoyed seeing this! I can’t wait to use it with my daughter this fall!
Oh great!!! So glad it's helpful!
I have never seen a live lesson for this curriculum. Thank you so much!
Me neither! So though it wasn't the best filming haha, hopefully it was helpful!
@@hannahgravelle it was very helpful! I'm really enjoying your channel and trying to keep myself from binge watching your videos. Haha Thank you again. ❤️
Thank you for this! You've solidified my LA curriculum choice for next year!
I'm so encouraged to hear this! 😍
If it wasn’t for your SIL, I probably wouldn’t have discovered CM when I did and I’m so grateful that she took the time to explain it to me 💛 I love seeing Adelaide in her lessons. She’s always so excited to explain what she’s doing and I love that 🥰
She's very much like me and I'm sure will love having her own TH-cam one day haha 😄
Thank you for this video the live lesson was a added bonus. We are using this curriculum this year literally just came in the mail
How exciting! Yay! Hope you love it as much as of us! No fuss language lessons 😍
This is all good to know. I have learned so much from Charlotte Mason! Good job mama. Thanks for sharing 💗☺️
Me too!
Even though we have used level 1 for a. couple of years (going slowly ;) ), it was really helpful for Lily and I to watch your live lesson! Thank you!
Yay, thanks for watching, Ruthie!
We love USL/SW from SCM! We are going into our second year. I also pair it with Riggs phonics flash cards so that we get a little more phonics basis for spelling. I’m also going to incorporate Fix It! Grammar because I think my rising 4th grader could benefit from identifying grammar elements more consistently. I’m a language nerd and love editing so knowing all the “whys” of LA gets me excited 😆
Oh flash cards sound fun!! I think those can be useful just for the fun of it!
You’ve convinced me! I was debating between Sonlight LA, SCM, LLATL and other… SCM paired with AO is what I’m thinking. He’s a rising 4th grader, and I plan to also use IEW All Things Fun & Fascinating, Vocabulary from Classical Roots (1x week) and maybe Easy Grammar/Daily Grams. Also using Pathway Readers ❤️ would you think doing Book 1 over one year or two would be best (starting in 4)? I think he could handle 3-4 lessons a week but I’m not sure if it’s necessary 😅
Is he a pretty good speller and reader? The first half of level 1 might be too simple! I think they have some sample pages online to try and dictate!
Would you advise using this with a curriculum like TGTB language arts level 3? Or is that overkill? Thanks for your video!
I have only flipped through the TGTB that a friend owned and I think adding this in would be overkill 🥰 less is more!
Ok, I rewatched with the curriculum in hand this time 😂 I think I’m going to start Book 1 with my current 4th grader this summer since the lessons will be simple for him. Maybe then I can do 4 lessons a week until it gets to lesson 40 or so when the passages are longer.
Yes!! I think that's a great plan! 😍😍 can't wait to hear what you think!
Have you heard of the curriculum learning language arts through literature, like the yellow book and the red book? How would that compare to this?
I haven't! Do you have a link? I can take a look and tell you what I think!
I'm curious how this compares to LLATL as well. I picked up the red book and we only got through 6 weeks (at a snail's pace) and then put it away for the year.
Do you think a 5th grader will need book 1? He’s not the best speller but is familiar with parts of speech. Do you do narration writings also?
Yes, I think he would benefit! The first half of the narrations are short so he could even do 3-4x a week and pace it from there. 🥰
Do the Language lessons line up with the spelling wisdom lessons? If so that means you need them both? We have spelling wisdom and are using that for dictation but in using something else for language lessons so I’ll curious!
Yes, they line up and the language lessons are short which I love & they pull from the dictation example! This is the only grammar/language/spelling curriculum we use!
@@hannahgravelle ok great, I never realized that! We only just got started with it so I can still add it, thanks for showing us how nicely this works!
@@christiethomas6905 you're welcome! We started level 2 this year with my 10.5 year old! I just love how it teaches Grammer with ease -- how I loathed that subject as a kid 😅
Do you use a writing curriculum or add extra copywork during the week?
Yes we also use Simply Charlotte Mason’s copybooks and love them! Simple and effective 👌🏻 no extra fluff! 🙌🏻
Would you say this is a solid writing curriculum?
Yess! We're half way through book 2 with my 10-year old and she is picking up the grammar in her free writing! Also we have started written narration which is the basis to learning to write! 😍
Would love to see a review of book 2 :)
@@rachaelpierson3470 I added a little bit in our next "full homeschool day" video! But I'll make a more detailed one!
