I love this idea! I'm currently in 11th grade. I come from a family of seven kids, but only four of us are still in school. I've been having a hard time lately with my school and was looking around for some help when I found your channel. I need to tell mom about this idea. Mom and I haven't really been able to spend a lot of time together because she's so busy with the younger ones. I didn't really know what I've been missing until I watched this video. I think I'm going to go ask her if we can do this. Here's to hoping this helps!
Yes! Ask your Mom, have her watch the video and set some time up to do this. It will help both of you keep tabs on each other. Good luck with your HSing!! Thanks for watching. 😊🌼
This was SO helpful! Thank you for sharing! I have been homeschooling for 13 years. Although it took some time, I feel like I have a good grasp on homeschooling elementary years, but teens...oh my, a whole new ball game! We have three teens this year and also have our first graduate. I can completely relate to some of the mistakes you mentioned. There are definitely things I want to do differently with the rest of our kids after having homeschooled one through high school. The mentor meeting concept really makes sense. Definitely taking this advice!! Thank you!
You are so right! High School is a whole new ball game- a different beast for sure. Blessings to you and your teens doing that HS thing! I hope they realize they won the Mom lottery❤️! Thanks so much for watching and commenting. 🌼😊🌼
So proud of you! Eight years!! Yes , you are rocking it. You got the high school years. Thanks for watching and being a sub!! Blessings to you and your family 🌼😊🌼
I would have to say that my favorite way to HS high schoolers is to do an eclectic style. Meaning finding individual curriculum that fits the needs of your teen. But if you are looking for a HS program the ones I’ve seen that are online programs are Power Homeschool, Study.com, Time 4 Learning, Khan Academy. Some of the box curriculum are Abeka, Sonlight, Apologia, Oak Meadow and Calvert Education. Hope that helps. 😊🌼
I really appreciate this video, We live in japan and Im just beginning high school not really knowing if I’m doing the right thing? Lots of changes as you said . Thank you thank you thank you for this tips🙏blessings
Thank you so much for taking the time to share what is working with your teens, that's so kind of you! Currently struggling a bit homeschooling my teens. I've been homeschooling for 10 yrs but it really is an entirely different ball game now that they're teens. Praying for a miracle 🙏🏼😅.
You are doing great! It’s always a bit rocky when you travel new terrain. And high school is a different vibe. But you can do this! Give yourself some grace, don’t expect perfection, and learn all you can to make it work. I’m so proud of you!! Thanks for watching🌼😊🌼
Just found your channel! Homeschool mom of 10 years here. Oldest two kids will both be in high school next year! Things are going well so far, but struggling to come up with a plan for science. Would love to see more videos about some curriculum options for science in the high school years that have worked for you and your teens. Thanks!
I’m new to your channel. I’m looking into the journey of getting of teen into homeschooling. So this video was helpful. I can’t wait to catch up and watch more 😊
Thank you! I currently have a weekly review to check that their work is done but it’s not really a mentorship time. I like the idea but how do you follow up on work and grade if not during this time? First year homeschooler of 5 - 3 in high school and grading - checking work and having them redo or review it again to be sure they know takes up a majority of my day. 🤪 thank you for your help!
@sarahmadden5733 thank you for this awesome question that I’m sure a lot of others have. 🌼If you are grading your teens work and want them to see how to improve, maybe you could set mentor meetings at a different time and have them be something totally different. If that doesn’t work and you only want to meet with them once, split your time up in one meeting. First half be the planning and mentoring stuff and the last half be going over their work. Or visa versa, which ever one works best for you and your teens. 🌼If it was me, I would split them up into two different times and days, as to be really careful not to have them dread the time. I would do mentor mtgs at the beginning of the week and then going over their work at the end of the week. 🌼I hope this helps! You are a brave and courageous MOM! You can do this❤️! Thanks for watching!!😊🌼
I agree you have your mom try this. It doesn’t have to be very long and you can set up a time that would be good for her. Start out easy but try and be consistent. You are a rockstar taking steps in finding resources to help you solve problems. Way to go!! Thanks for watching and for sharing. 😊🌼
I want to try this, but when i ask my 13 year old daughter what she thinks and when i ask for suggestions to make things better for her, she just shrugs her shoulders 😮💨.
