Just subscribed yesterday and enjoying your content. Looking to pick up either a 2006 GS430 or 2008 GS460 in the next few months after I sell my 2013 ES350.
Any tips or suggestions for or against choosing the GS460 over the GS430 ?

Thanks for the support, Stephen - much appreciated!!
Ref your Q; If you can find one, the 460 would probably be preferable - more power, slightly better economy and will hold value better. I assume as you’ve got a 350 not a 350h you’re in the states, or at least not in the UK, which is good, as 460s are a lot more common there than in the UK (only 40 UK 460s, I believe).
That said the 430 is a great, proven, reliable engine, so you’re not being short-changed! Plus you can’t LPG convert a 460 (but I suspect that’s not your intent...).
The problem you’ll likely have is finding a good one. They’re old enough now to have had owners that neglect them and cars in areas that salt their roads are more likely to have rusty rear subframes etc so worth checking before buying.
Good luck in your search - hope you find a nice one!

Just to add, the 460 being Direct Injection means it's also worth checking if there's any carbon buildup - especially if it's got some miles - forgot about that! It's an issue with the GS300s of that era and I'd assume the 460's could suffer from it too.

@@MikeMacful yes I’m in the USA, just outside of NYC in Staten Island NY.
I didn’t know the 460 has only Direct Injection similar to the 300 ! Wow. Yes I just heard yesterday on another TH-cam channel that the GS300 has carbon build up issues on higher mileage engines. (Over 100k).
This will now definitely make me look more for a GS430 instead. Nice to have that extra 40 horsepower but if it’s got possible carbon issues is it worth it ?
I’m not a mechanic by any stretch, I can do basic stuff like oil changes, brake pad replacement etc. but I won’t be opening up cylinders. How does one get an inspection for carbon buildup. Can An advanced scan tool measure this ?

      @@stephendibari5010 Guessed it! :-D
Ref Carbon - the only real way of checking is physically getting a scope into the intake ports on the heads - not casually DIY'able! You could use a 'guideable' scope through the spark plug tube to look at the back of the valves when they're open, which would be easier, but that wouldn't show you the intake runners.
I think the main symptom is loss of power and poor running. It might be worth checking what a shop would charge to clean them up - might not be too much? It's certainly a common procedure on all other DI engines.

@@MikeMacful awesome 👏. So sounds like don’t entirely rule out the 460 ? If needed I can always get a shop to clean out the cylinders. Thank you so much for this invaluable info !!

I have this problem, also says Bank 1 (oxygen) Sensor 1 heater control unit. We replaced the sensor and still shows that.

      Possibly a wiring issue then
